Retro! You have been great to us, please still hang around and maybe play a game or two?
Again, thank you for you support and the love and good feelings you've given over the last few years. I'm not leaving the community - I'll still be around, I'll just be more in the background.
I'm eagerly awaiting sign ups with my 'I Survived Volcano Island' T-shirt on.For the many, many people who have been wanting Volcano Island 2 or Harry Potter Mafia 2 - Go check out Heroes vs Villains.
HVsV is for 24 players actually, for some reason I kept saying 23 and forgot it was 24.With Main Season games done and Buck Bumble well underway, it's time to announce our two Mid-Season games! For our Mid-Season games were are letting Gamerunners pick the Day/Night Phase schedule they with to use. Also a note to our New Players this Season, the Mid-Season games are a lot more experimental than what we open with. Different roles and mechanics are often tried in these games and they can give some interesting results but like anyone here will tell you they are often a ton of fun to play in.
Sign ups for these won't begin until this coming Monday the 19th but here is a little sneak peak of what is coming. :>
Sneakers Mafia by gir
Players: 16
Day/Night Phase: 48/24
Complexity: Normal
Heroes vs Villains Mafia by Geno
Players: 23
Day/Night Phase: TBA
Complexity: Bastard*
*Note from Retro: Please note that this is a very complex, advanced game - for those familiar with prior games, this game is somewhere between Harry Potter Mafia and Volcano Island. This game may include multiple special roles and/or mechanics, and is not recommended for beginners.
I plan to do a strawpoll for the players to decide if they want 72/48 or 48/24Will this survey be impacting this midseason?
Edit: lol ignore this I should've refreshed
Which one is scum? Is the Hecht method a neutral?72/48 vs 48/24 mafia.
Game schedule switches depending on whether town or scum got lynched.
I'm still a newbie as well but I'll be signing up for it. Would love to play with you faircure! Despite playing so little, I really liked your playstyle in Buffy!I was just skimming Volcano Island last night since I saw it mentioned as a wild game so often :o
It seems like it'd be fun to participate in something like that, but I'm very unsure that I have enough skill or experience to handle it. Good luck to everyone who does sign up!
Aw, thank you! It definitely gives me confidence that there'll be other people new at this. I'd love to play with you too, whether in this game or sometime in the future!I'm still a newbie as well but I'll be signing up for it. Would love to play with you faircure! Lol, I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but lol either way
You'll never go wrong with Times New Roman, *Splinter.

I do not care at all about sneakers but that banner made me almost interested for a second.
Since I missed all the wild games of yore, I'm interested. For the many, many people who have been wanting Volcano Island 2 or Harry Potter Mafia 2 - Go check out Heroes vs Villains.
faircure - if you're not sure, you can do sneakers, too! Smaller games can be a nice way to get to know more players, too.
Also, is there going to be one spec thread for both games again? Just curious.
Heroes vs Villains Mafia by Geno
Players: 24
Day/Night Phase: TBA - Strawpoll to decide
Complexity: Bastard*
Thanks, although I went with Monospace. It's like you're talking slowly
The bastard complexity sounds like so much fun! Does it only works with big games or is it possible to have smaller ones with it?
Lol, I'm not sure if this is a joke or not, but lol either way
It's definitely possible. There are a lot of reasons why a game might be rated as a Bastard game. For example (and to be clear, I'm saying nothing here about Geno's game, one way or another,) any game that requires the Gamerunner to actively lie to the players would immediately be rated Bastard. So something like an insane cop, (who is given false information by the gamerunner) would be a Bastard role.
People have different definitions of bastard, the strictest definition could include fairly common roles like Godfathers and Ninjas, typically it's just applied to very unconventional games.
This one game the dead could talk... defeating the whole purpose of killing them :p

What's the name? Was it enjoyable? Did it get a good reception?
