I can totally see RE8 following the same route and being a 3rd person game.I can only say if this game sell at least 5 million, expect RE8 to follow the same route.
Yeah, by the time REmake 2 is out, RE7 would be 2 years old and I recall reading that they started developing RE8 right off the bat.
They are like the only Japanese company i can think of that still create good quality console games since the 90s, meanwhile SE and Konami...How does Capcom shit out quality games like that? Best managed Japanese studio or what?
RE7 not selling great is a misconception, for the record RE7 sold over 5 million copies in a year. It didn't sell AS well as Capcom's top selling game of all time, sure. But it is in Capcom's top 5 selling games of all time. And it reached Capcom's top 5 best selling of all time in a year. People really like to downplay its performance for some reason.People say RE7 didn't sell that great compare to RE5-6 due to the bad reception of 6. But I doubt that is really the case, majority of my friends who love RE skip RE7 for the fact that it is FPS, most of them can't handle the camera angle due to motion sickness ( and they enjoyed RE6 ). I personally hate FPS and only play RE7 once because I am die hard fan. And apart from the new camera angle, the story and character has no connection to the past games also play the part, I mean there is the reason why Nintendo still keep using Mario until now, it's the icon, it's the thing that get people attention. RE7 promoted itself as a niche first person horror game ( only with RE name ) with no Chris/Jill/Leon, even if it has a very good quality, I personally thought it is lucky to sell that much. It is not about the game quality but purely marketing.
RE7 was good, but I doubt it sold enough to guarantee that FPS is a good formula for the main series. And while Capcom can have multiple teams working in parralell, lots of staff are still being shared within the company, and look at the quality of RE2 it clearly shows that it get the main staff working on it. So we can only expect RE8 to come out in 2021 at the latest. That is enough time for Capcom to rethink their strategy if REmake2 sell very very well. But again, this is Capcom we are talking about, RE8 might end up being RPG game or something.
In terms of single releases (not platform releases afterward), it is the third best selling RE game of all time (just behind RE5 and RE6).
Motion sickness clouds your judgement my friend. :pPersonally I am not sure about it being third with only Single releases , Since RE7 got Gold Edition which is as addition as Platform releases

Nah cyberpunk is right. Pretty sure RE7 didn't go higher until they included gold edition numbers into it.

The Capcom's Platinum Titles list lists every SKU as a different position. RE5 (PS3/Xbox360), RE5 Gold (PS3, X360) and RE5 (PS4, XOne) are all listed as a separate position on the list. And neither of them include the PC version.
And according to the list the standard version of RE7 (PS4, XOne, PC) sold 5.1 million copies.

I noticed in the reveal trailer that a woman is shown laying on a desk, wasn't that the mayor's daughter and that scene from Resident Evil 3?? .......

Gold is included with 7 or was implied. They said so in one of the reports. Cyberpunk will link to it.
Capcom does whatever they want. RE2 and 7 could've sold a ton and if they think they got a good idea. RE8 could still be an action game like RE6.
This is the first Resident Evil I'm genuinely excited about since RE4, which is my first ever Resident Evil game.
Is an Action RE8, a la RE6, possible? Yes
Is an Action RE8 most likely?
Given the positive reception of Rev2, RE7 and RE2Make, I think its fair to conclude it's not likely.
I'm not a fan of RE6, but I do think Capcom are missing a trick by not developing it into a new IP. I always could see how Dead Rising emerged from RE speed runs and mini games, although that's never been explained.
Played it, it's alright.
Not a fan of the UI design and the clunky combat. Also not a fan of the co-op.
Whoa thats one hell of a claim
I am currently working Through Rev1 so Im excited to get to it!

That's putting it mildly, last weekend I went to a restaurant for dinner and a couple tables away from me there was two dudes talking excitedly about the remake. Outside I was "huh that's pretty cool" but inside I was like:
This game will sell millions.
I'm sure this has been posted, perhaps more than once, but my word does the shotgun in this game look insanely satisfying.
That is amazing. What the fuck at the one with half its head blown off still coming at you and launching an attack though?
What about the one where the player used a defensive item to fend it off? That looked like an attack that would've done damage otherwise.Because it's weight still falls on you if you're near it? RE4 had the same thing, cool detail. Doesn't do damage btw.

For sure. It logically makes sense, but I vaguely remember a headshot being an instant kill in the original game. Sucks to see that go away unless your shot is absolutely perfect.Yeah its crazy to see some zombies can take a shotgun blast and still keep coming
I suppose if enough of the head is left and has teeth they are still a threat

Resident Evil 7 being first person had a lot to do with supporting the VR... REmake 2 success will guarantee that every RE game that follows main or sub will be 3rd person.
I hope RE8 is first-person. I love, LOVE, classic RE, but 7 was just so impactful to me. They did everything right (well, the ship section was a bit rough).
Revelations + Remakes being in 3rd person is perfectly fine. Hell, 9 going back to 3rd would be fine. Just give me one more cool, immersive (VR) mainline RE that follows Ethan/Mia, please.
