The PS4 Pro when outputting at 2160p renders at a resolution of 3200x1800 using what appears to be a form of checkerboard rendering. When outputting at 1080p the PS4 Pro version downsamples from a native resolution of 2240x1260 to 1920x1080. The PS4 Pro when outputting at 2160p has noticeably worse depth of field than the PS4 Pro outputting at 1080p.

The Xbox One X version seems to render at a resolution of 3840x2160 and also appears to be using a form of Checkerboard Rendering. There does appear to be differences between the two implementations with the Xbox One X version showing more artifacts, but they shouldn't be intrusive on either platform.

Average framerates.
Pro: 59.96
X: 59.85

Glad the update finally came to the X, the frame rate is much improved over the one. The boost in IQ should be massive as well over 900p.

If I didn't already have The Evil Within 2 (which I still have to start with, thanks MHW, lol) I would've bought this game.

Kinda odd that there are artifacts though, no?

Well It has to run at locked completely locked 60 on PS4 for VR, so although assets etc might be a bit different, it s general target they needed to exceed.

OP left out this info -

"There is strange color banding in the sky on Xbox One X. This is not present on the PS4 Pro. This also appears to be present on the latest version of the base Xbox One, but not on the unpatched Xbox One version."

That's a huge IQ upgrade on the X going from 900p to CB 4k.

You actually had the first part, my bad.

Ok, but what's happening now with the new SS system option?
It's the same as before or now the game downsamples from the 3200x1800 CB rendering?

This game is amazing. I wish they would remake RE3 using this engine and with a first person perspective.

Yeah I noticed the colour banding in the video. Very strange.

Textures look sharper in the Pro version too, looks like the X version is fucked tbh.

Hmm, just to clear a bit of misinformation in this thread, if I remember correctly, the XB1 version renders at an interlaced resolution, so 960x1080 native, not 1600x900 (900p)

I'm on a 4:3 layout monitor, so it's not the best reference point, but looking at the fan on the table at 2:02 (and to a lesser degree the flowers at 2:18) I'm seeing IQ difference in favor of the 1X. They seem more like what you get from a resolution difference than checkboarding.

Yea and at the beginning of the video I can see aliasing/jaggies moving around at the table with the light on the other side of the room in the pro but none on the X.

Sorry, my bad. I thought it was 900p like most other AAA third party games, especially with it being an impressive looking 60fps title.

How accurate are these guys usually? I prefer to wait for DF or NXGamer's analysis.

Nice. I might buy the gold edition on Xbox if I can find it cheap somewhere. Still keeping my Pro copy for VR in the future.

Huh ?

Did the game get patched to increase resolution some time recently ? Because as far as I remember, the game renders at 1260p on a Pro at 4K TV up until the good part of last year.

From the original DF article from last year:

The game sees a small resolution boost from 1080p to 2240x1260 with the machine set to 4K output.

Its possible, nobody has checked on it since. Maybe check the latest patch notes.

That's the thing, I played the DLC when it came out last December, up until then there was nothing like this in the patch notes, nor did any website or any pixel counting source (on Reset Era, GAF or otherwise) report an increase in resolution.

Well am sure DF will take a look at it with the deployment of the X patch. We will get an answer then.

Jesus the comments. Anyway, this game is one of the best of this gen and also runs at 60fps. I would recommend everyone to check it out.
