Ah OK. I wonder why he forgot all that lol. I'm so glad we don't have PAL 50HZ anymore. Those were dark days.
Anyway, talking about the soundtracks, I watched X-Files a few years ago and there is a scene where music plays in the background and I swear it's the exact same track that plays when you are on the island in RE4.
I guess it's a royalty free track or something.
I've been looking into RE Revelations for Switch and was surprised to learn that only Revelations 1 is included on the cartridge, and that Revelations 2 would be a digital download. Does that mean that if I were to sell the cartridge, the buyer would only be able to play Revelations 1? Or is it a situation where whoever possesses the cartridge can download Revelations 2 and play it? I tend to sell my physical copies once I'm done with them so this is actually an important consideration for me.
Rev 2 is a code for Eshop.
So yeah if you sell Rev 1 that's all you're selling.
For what it's worth, I think Rev2 has better characters and a better script. Rev1 is kind of a dud.Right so I just finished RE: Rev 1 and I'd give it a 6/10. My biggest complaints being the bland as hell enemy design, with their stiff animations, the comically bad script, the serviceable at best voice work and the clunky controls. The shooty shooty bang bang (Thanks Jim) was fun and kept me playing until the end. I feel there were a couple of enjoyable sections but most of it just felt so generic and phoned in. Also, I really hate how cut up it was, some sections were literally 2 - 3 minutes long, plus can my partner stop shutting the damn door in my face lol. I guess I'll still buy Rev 2, it seems people can't agree on if its better or worse, hopefully I fall in the better camp, if it can rise to 7/10 I'll be happy as that's a good score on my scale.

I have something to confess: I like Rev1 better than Rev 2.
Am I evil, RE Era? :(
I think what draws me to Rev1 is the setting, characters (some look ridiculous, yes) and art direction. Although it really feels like a handheld title It was a milestone having Chris an Jill together again since RE1.
Rev2 is alright, but secondary characters weren't that interesting to me, and the fact most of the game is set in forests, rocks and rusted metal felt more like silent hill at times.
One thing I think made me not appreciate Revelations 1 as much honestly is I had played Cold Fear a bit before I played Revelations 1. Cold Fear is a Resident Evil rip-off game that combined fixed camera angles with the RE4 behind-the-shoulder camera which takes place on a boat (and then on an oceanic oil rig). I think it has higher highs and lower lows than Revelations 1, but one thing it does exceedingly better than Revelations 1 is realizing its ship/oceanic setting and making a much better atmosphere, plus the monsters are more varied (even if a couple of them can be a bit annoying).
Revelations 1 has its unique appeals I like, but I feel weird I think I overall ended up liking Cold Fear more than it.
Interesting you mentioned Cold fear, I will go further back in time and present you:
I had this one back then, and it's funny in the sense that it's basically what you described Cold Fear to be, but this time it uses the classic RE1 formula only
I wonder if these games are related in some way, even the title is similar
I wish we'd get a new Extermination game.
So forgotten Sony doesn't even know their own it.
that looks good. lemme grab this title for JYP Saturn since i just got a system. thanks for posting this =)Interesting you mentioned Cold fear, I will go further back in time and present you:

oh no! thanks, can't get enough of these classic looking Re1 style games. i picked up Martian Gothic for ps1 a few months ago.Ahaha you're welcome. I feel Golem and I opened a Pandora's box with this
shoot! more? keep em coming! thanks!!!So one of the better Resident Evil clones I've played while we're on that subject:
Kabus 22 is up there on my 'Resident Evil clones' chart.
It was a Turkish PC Resident Evil clone from 2006/2007 that was apparently made by a 5-people team over the course of three years, and though Resident Evil is the main thing it riffs off of it's not the only source (there's also some stronger Silent Hill and Devil May Cry influence, I'll explain in one bit). In the game you switch between playing three characters, one is a woman who is more puzzle focused, one is the 'main character' who's a Chris Redfield knock-off and plays like a Resident Evil character, and the final is a guy who looks like Leon who plays a bit more like Dante and DMC than anything.
Now in fairness, the characters were originally bigger rip-offs than their final versions, here was the original art for them:
The final versions look like this:
The game has some laughably bad acting and writing, but it's with its charms. Do not play this game for its story, as it's kind of a clusterfuck and frankly the final boss is bad and the ending is literally like 15 seconds long (you can tell it was rushed at the very end), but despite this it's actually a pretty enjoyable Resident Evil clone.
I actually wouldn't recommend playing this game on Hard, I did it and I think it's a case of a game that suffers some frustration if you play on Hard and would recommend Normal, but I really enjoyed it still. A number of fun locations you explore, some unique enemies that are somewhere between Resident Evil and Silent Hill, some fun puzzles, decently well handled back-tracking element (the fun kind fortunately). The best summary I could give is this silly video I made after playing it for 5-6 hours. It doesn't include footage of the final location, which I ended up loving since it kind of is like a mixture of a Silent Hill-esque church and a Resident Evil mansion, but it's a decent demonstration of the game I feel even if a sillier video:
This game I hope comes to Steam eventually, it was Greenlit forever ago but nothing since then. It's up there on my Resident Evil clones list for some creative mix-ups, good locations/enemies, and with some fun pacing/puzzles.

I'm actually jumping into Cold Fear this month and damned if now I'm interested in Deep Fear! You all are great.
Ahaha you're welcome. I feel Golem and I opened a Pandora's box with this
The soundtrack by Ghost in the Shell composer Kenji Kawai still remains one of the top soundtracks of gaming. Never seen a game that doesn't deserve such a good soundtrack more.

Yes they are! Cold Fear has been on my Steam Wishlist for a while, maybe this will make me finally buy it. How do you feel about the fixed camera movement + over the shoulder shooting? The "hookman" RE4 prototype was like that and that's something I think they could try with REmake 2 as kind of a compromise between classic and new RE.
The ship was great! It was nice to play in a confined space again.Locations were pretty good in my opinion. The ship was fantastic.
I thought that was cancelled.
I never finished Rev 1, just hated all the character designs and also the plot was too stupid even by RE standards.
a completely identical duplicate ship? and what the hell was with that one legged diving suit?
Ships are very often made in pairs, triplicates etc all identical.
how about Deep Fear, did you like that?I think the problem was that it was identical in all aspects, not only rooms and decorations, but also environmental damage, rubbish, monsters location etc. It was a really cheap plot twist. Successful, on first playthrough, but really cheap.
And about Cold Fear, I remember not liking the game. The setting was cool and how the ship was roaming on waves (which actually affected your aiming) was an interesting gameplay mechanics. I don't remember exactly why I didn't like the game, only that it was frustrating and the story had some major plot holes. Oh, and the Marlin Manson song used during credits was repeated like 2.5 (or even 3.5) times; it was playing on a loop and then, when the credits finished, it just suddenly ended.
But back then I was a huge RE fanboy so I also viewed this game as a RE rip-off, which probably affected my views.
I finished episode 2 of Rev2 and wow, love it. I can't believe I nearly skipped it because of Rev1, I'm so glad I didn't. I just love everything about it so far. I can tell it's going to be very short though, even for me and my ideal length is 8-10 hours but I'm knocking out an episode per hour ATM. I'm wondering how the DLC is? I'm not interested in raid mode or any of that jazz, just more campaign or stories if possible.
The Bonus chapters are awful and a waste of time imo. I didn't enjoy them at all.
Breaking my damn heart there buddy, I was hoping to get another couple of hours out of the game with the DLC, speaking of DLC, the alternative costumes are hilarious, just so unfitting for a more "serious" RE title.

Oh daymare, forgot about that one. Hope it turns out good.
