Timed exclusives are gross and easily my least favourite thing, hard lock it or drop it across the board
Honestly...people should be happy that this is getting a sequel in the first place. Switch is probably the right plattform for the initial release because of the momentum and lower PV expectations.

Absolutely. I will be playing it at launch. Can't deny that I much preferred my experience with the first game on PC, though, given how awful the performance was on consoles.

Most exclusives, timed or otherwise, do. You're better off accepting it will almost always happen and disregard user reviews on MC wholesale.

I mean, this is like the whole Activision/Sony/Crash thing, of course they won't say: "The game is coming to NSW at launch, 12 months later you can play it on other platforms"
They might be waiting to see how well it does. Here's hoping it does well enough to come to the other platforms.

Probably one of the most divisive games of all time. I thought it was jank, but others loved it and it has a cult following. I remain curious about the sequel though.

why? switch is getting a lot of late ports and people are excited about them. as long as the game comes, it doesn't really matter if you played it at launch or 6 months or a year later
having said that
i don't really like timed exclusivity deals, specially when they're not transparent about them. at least with EGS you know it's timed and will take a year. but i get why a platform holder would be interested in doing them.

Even Nintendo publishing isn't a ringer for permanent exclusivity. Nintendo published Octopath, which still came to PC a year later.
Great experience (story,characters,music) but dogshit gameplay.
Also first hours are a bit too much in terms of ripping off Twin Peaks but it comes it's own thing later.
i think if the publisher is a 1st party, the difference is it may come to PC but not other platforms. like nioh or octopath.
You're right, that is an interesting trend I had not picked up on (I guess Microsoft is the obvious exception here).

I mean, it's a bad game. And yet it's beloved for being so unbelievably quirky.

Ah but that generally indicates a distribution agreement rather than publishing agreement. A bit like how Sony "publishes" Nioh but outside of Japan. But it isn't a first party game in the traditional sense.

I own Deadly Premonition and might get around to playing it next year.
Playing on launch, or the year after launch, or the year after that simply doesn't matter.
That doesn't make sense. Not everyone owns every platform. It's not worthless for those that have to wait a while to play a game they want to play.
They can have as much fun as the players that got the game day one on a certain platform. (unless they get spoiled lol)
