RUMOR: Red Dead Redemption 1 Coming To PC

I will believe it when I see it on the Steam store…too many false rumors of this highly lauded game coming to PC in the past.
Honestly, a very good question. Like I'd be happy to see RDR finally hitting PC, but why now? RDR seems to be a dead IP moving forward so why start porting it?
Because I just bought it on PlayStation thinking "Literally the only exclusive PS5 has right now worth playing is 60fps Red Dead Redemption"
So naturally, now they release it on my preferred platform.
A third party just ported the game to Switch and PS4. I can see them adding a PC version to the pipeline as they've already done a lot of work.
Because it's already been ported to modern platforms. This is in line with typical Rockstar strategy. Release on consoles first and PC later to get people to double dip. I imagine Double Eleven (the studio behind the port) will have had extra time to add some bells and whistles.
Sufficient time has passed that everyone who was holding out bought the console remaster instead, and will now triple dip. This is standard Rockstar operating procedure.
If they were able to get the source code into good shape during the remastering process for the new versions they just put out, it would make a lot of sense to put it on PC if they can get a decent version up and running.
I guess. I just wish it meant they had more plans for the franchise. :(

For reference, the original BLOPS on Steam is running for $40. That came out in 2010. Absolutely insane.

It's running well on Switch emulators even on modest systems. Makes no sense to keep a PC port back at this point.

if this pc port actually exists, you can bet it will exclusively be on the Rockstar Game Launcher initially. AND when it comes to Steam, it will require you to have the Rockstar Game Launcher running in the background
I never saw the point in creating PS4/Switch ports and not putting out a PC version. As for 'why now', no doubt to grab any double-dippers while finally serving the PC market. Glad I held off on grabbing it for Switch because I'd love to have it for Deck.
It'll probably be the recent conversion job that put it on the PS4/Switch just ported over (which is fine with me I guess).
