I am surprised they didn't invest in sony and PlayStation instead .
Nintendo barley has any presence in the region compared to PlayStation.

I believe they already invested in Sony during the PS2 days

Though I may be misremembering the situation.

It is literally just a purchase of publicly sold stock that anyone could buy. Why are people having such a hard time wrapping their heads around this?

That's what I'm saying. This is a company based in Saudi Arabia purchasing Nintendo stock. It won't mean anything in the long run as I'm pretty sure that a majority of Nintendo's stock is held by employees and the Yamauchi family.

This is not a corporation receiving money directly from a nation's government that has been involved in the kidnapping and murder of its citizens and journalists.
