I always thought the 2021 gameplay demo looked a little "off" with Senua's skin rendering and eyes. It looks much better now, I think. The 2023 TGA gameplay also looked like a big step up from the 2021 demo.

Expecting a masterclass in graphics. This game is going to be a graphical and emotional tour de force. I really hope Ninja Theory nails it.

yea that 2021 video did seem to have a worse senua model than the rest of the footage

I bloody well hope MS give this a big push as we get closer, as they seem to be doing bugger all right now. Nice to see things get better close to release rather than the more common downgrades.

I find it very easy to see the difference in skin shading, self shadowing (like her ear), the added detail like the rain droplets coming off her face, the leather headband material rendering.

Yes, it's a difference in cutscene direction with a change in lighting, her "wait" animation, camera movement/framing, but the visuals look way more cohesive and realistic.

And Senua looks pretty fantastic. I haven't played the first, sound design being a particular aspect of games I enjoy makes me think I should probably just buy it.

That's the problem. I did build a PC and have a 144 Hz 32:9 1440p UW display...

Does she have different face paints on? She also had a different paint for the original reveal trailer. I wonder if we can change the face paint, would be real neat collectables.

The newer footage looks a lot closer to the live action bit Melina Juergens did for a commercial.

I am very pleased with Senua's facial upgrade, I was one of those who criticized the old model in the first trailer, it was low detailed and soulless. Great job Ninja Theory.

Is the model actually different? Shadows not really looking good on faces trips up so many games.

The 3D model itself looks the same or mostly the same. It's the layers on top that look improved (material rendering, skintone, shadowing, subsurface scattering, particles, facepaint, etc).
