Got paid and looking for something to buy. I was put off by the lack of single player and content at launch. And how different it was compared to old games. Have things changed for the better or worse?

There's a lot to do single player, and I think it's actually pretty well-designed. But they still haven't patched it up to where you can get that classic type of experience. It's really hard to say. I think you'll be taking a chance with it, but a worthwhile chance.

don't touch it. i regret buying it. it's boring and super locked down. to be fair they do update it a lot but if you have an xbox/PC you might as well go with PC2/Forza 7 which are far far FAR superior games. well PC2 is on PS4 too...so yeah don't buy GTS.

Yeah it's a pretty good racer now and the online mode is the best in the business when it comes to clean racing. The game has a lot of class

This is still nothing like the older Gran Turismo when it comes to offline single player content I'd say no. I regret buying this game

I bought it recently, and I'm not into online racing and I've really enjoyed it. But it depends on what you wanna do. For example you can't just pick any car at the start and race on the Nürburgring. You have to level up to gain more tracks to do that. But you can level up by playing the sp stuff.

It is basically the best racing game on consoles right now... it got more updates that imo add nothing (I did not play the new GT League)... it is really great in Sport Mode and the original Campaign mode holds you for 30 or more hours.

The cars and tracks are absolutely stunning and that is the best part of the updates... there are over 250 cars and 3 mores tracks now.

In my personal opinion, it's excellent.

You start the SP with a low level car. You complete the driving school and the GT league to earn in game currency to get more cars and upgrades.

The driving school teaches you how to drive/race properly. The GT league provides the more traditional races of GT.

I've put about 30-40 hours into the single player campaign and I have enjoyed everything thus far.

Edit:

The on track driving experience is amazing. The sounds and the visuals are top notch.

Just get it dude. If you're a technical car guy GT sport will tickle your navel with a Michelin feather

In regards to online I know a guy that ignored multi and focused on getting every car possible in the game

Go for it, it's on sale at the moment (EU sale) and it's a great racing game with fantastic graphics and solid 60fps performance. It's the most polished GT has ever been.

They have added Single Player Championships / Cups now and the Campaign Mode challenges are really good and addictive, so plenty to keep you playing.

The online Sports mode is really good too and should definitely be given a go.

I would wait for a sale I think. I missed out last time and been waiting since then for $19.99.

I think the GT league mode is really fun. It definitely reminds me of classic GT with better, although still not very lifelike ai.

The progression is a little messed up because of all the cars they give away just for logging in though. And overall, these menus of races are not tied together the way the old GT mode was. And that's too bad, because it seems like they could have if they wanted to.

GT league is still fun in its own right, though. It just ties in with the rest of the game in a different way now.

Sport mode is fun, but everything else is lackluster. It's probably the best racing title out right now but at the same time it isn't worth more than $20. It really should've been to GT7 what GTAO is to GTAV.

You should have played the open beta. I skipped GT6 but GTS was an instant buy.
Sport mode, mission challenges or whatever it's called, driving school and circuit experience are great.
The SP campaign cups they added with braindead AI and no progression system at all are pure shite, I hope we never see them again like this. :)

Don't be fooled by the "so many updates for free"-messages. These were only because the game was lacking content at launch and now they are still trying to get content in in terms of cars and tracks. Also there is still no dynamic tod or weather like in GT6 but at least there is hope left.
All in all game is not bad, it controls nice but the main focus is to make you a better driver, according to guys on this forum its not for noobs.
Just don't expect it to be like the old games.

I was just checking PSN and it's currently...

13.99€ with Gold.

13.99€

*

Missing it would be criminal. It's a great game, with free content being thrown at you every few weeks. Heck, its presentation alone is so stylish and beautiful, at that price it would be worth it even as just a acreensaver or small car encyclopedia.

* That's in EU though.

My first GT and my first racing sim. Enjoyed it lots! Probably put in 20 hours on the single player content. They were a bunch of challenges and taught you how to drive.

Another 20 in MP which was pretty fun.

Well worth a purchase.

It's an excellent game and there is a good amount of single player stuff to do. Not playing online kind of cuts out half the game though.

Of course, I'm always plugging the motion control steering. Try playing the game with the gyro steering. The game has super nice control and feel, and I think the gyro option successfully bridges the gap between are controller and a steering wheel, which makes it even more enjoyable.

At 14€ it's a must have.

Just get ready for a loooot of frustrations, infuriating game design decisions...and some fantastic races.

It's a good racing game. I like it enough but it's not really like the old GT games. There is single player content but it's very much built around the online racing. It doesn't have that many cars or tracks but they're adding more all the time. It's had 8 months or so of free monthly cars/tracks updates and it's still nowhere near what the old games offered or what the competition offers in that regard. Don't read 'it's had tons of free content' and think that it's ballooned into some massive game. It very much feels like they held content back to keep the content updates coming monthly. It's still very light car/track wise. You can get it for so cheap now though, so might be a good price vs content for you. I got it for £17.99 and it feels good for that price. It looks *amazing*. I play Forza on the X and GTS on an OG PS4 and I still might say that GT looks better. It's a *very serious* racing person game and makes you watch some videos about why racing is serious and why you should be a respectful driver and then sign a 'i understand' form and give them your email address before they let you race online. I'm still not over that, it's absolutely hilarious!

In short - yeah, it's worth it if you like racing, but don't expect a classic GT experience.

Look. When GT Sport launched it didn't have the most single-players content. Probably 10-12 hours. Today that's closer to 20-25hrs without repeating events. Myself, I've probably spent 30hrs in the livery creator alone and each week spend hours searching other user creation.

The Sport mode is the best racing you will find. Select an event, qualify (if you want), and have a 10 minute race. What's so difficult about that? With the ranking system you'll go up against equally experienced drivers so no worries about ruining better drivers races.

Bottom line is it's the best handling sim on consoles.

Everyone will accept content was lacking at launch. But that hasn't been the case since at least March-April time. There's been so many comprehensive updates since adding many dozens or cars, tracks, events and features.

I also disagree GT Sport is not for 'noobs'. If you have any concept of what a steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedal do, you'll be fine. Driving aids are comprehensive and the game teaches you everything from the very basics. More importantly controls with a DS4 are the best in the business. Even experienced drivers would struggle to get certain cars around a track in Project Cars or Assetto Corsa.

It's the best-feeling racing game I've ever played using a controller. Also, the UI is sublime. It's worth getting on sale for those two reasons alone.

I personally didn't see any difference from old GT games and I played all of them with some with over 600 hours.
It is like everything I played in olds GTs is there with the exception of B-Spec Mode (that was removed in GT6 not GTS).

What old GTs have?

- Arcade Mode? Checked for GTS.
- Split screen? Checked for GTS.
- Driving License? Checked for GTS.
- Missions? Checked for GTS.
- Circuit Experience? Checked for GTS.
- Car tunning? Checked for GTS.
- Photo Mode? Checked for GTS.
- Online Mode? Checked for GTS.
- Garage? Checked for GTS.

What is really missing? I can say maybe...

Old GT Campaign? Added in December.
Dynamic TOD and Weather? Yes it was removed.
B-Spec Mode? Locking but it was removed in GT6 not GTS.

What GTS add?

- Scapes
- Lively editor / Cosmetics tunning
- Online etiquete controller
- FIA Chanponships

I can't see how anybody that played old GT games will say it is different...

Yes is a great game right now.
I played the beta and while i loved the presentation and driving, there was very little single player content. Now the game has alot of single player content, they added a "carrer mode" called GT League in line with what old GTs had, and every update they add more cars, a new track popts up from time to time, and more rares are added to the single player modes.

I have been playing the game every day for the last month, i only play single player and im still far from completing all the races in the single player alone. And if ur in mood for an online race, its probably the best online races on the market with the system that reward clean racing, ppl actually try to drive as clean as possible. Its hard to come out on 1st tough ppl that play online has great driving skills.

Also all the updates has been free, and the livery editor where u can create decals and paintjobs, not only for ur car but since last update, u can also use liveries in ur pilot suit and helmet. Since the game has a strong online component, alot of ppl share what they create so its easy to find decals created by others ready to use, or full liveries just ready to be placed on ur car, helmet or suit.

The Sport mode is simple enough, but it's highly demanding. I think everyone should try it because if you don't bounce off of it it's totally sick... But I bet most people would bounce off of Sport mode.

If you've seen how good it looked just be aware that the latest patch has introduced a graphics downgrade.

I don't think it is possible to finish the original GTS single player content in 10-12 hours... I never played GT League and I did not finish the original content with around 30 hours.

Just the endurance races combined will take 10 hours or more lol

Sorry but I don't believe you.

Easy enough. When you play single player, the AI stil drives in a sort of steady line so you just do like the old games and pick them off one by one... Or failing that ran them off the road LOL.

I think it's easy to play still. I'm not particularly a car person and I'm fine with it! It's very car porn-y though. I think if you're a car nerd and enjoy the seriousness of cars in museums or whatever you'd get more out of it.

Things changed for the worse in my opinion. If you buy it, do yourself a favor and suppress the memories of all previous GT games, as Sport lacks in comparison to them.

Outside of that the game is cheap and you'll get enjoyment out of it.

OP if you like interested in starting to see what real life racing is like then this game is for you. There's no rewind or driving line turned on by default bs that actually won't make you better at racing.

I don't get the complaint about the car count. GT3 launched with almost similar car count, didn't hear anyone complain back then.

Got paid and looking for something to buy. I was put off by the lack of single player and content at launch. And how different it was compared to old games. Have things changed for the better or worse?

Gameplay, graphics and sound are all significantly improved compared to GT6. The game is incredible in those 3 aspects. It does not have a traditional GT campaign though. The GT league that they added in GTS doesn't win you any prize cars.

It's a cheap, online focused sim that's maybe a bit light on content, but does really nail the fundamentals for driving. It's an offshoot from what most people expect from GT, which sounds like it may be a snag for the OP. The AI for the solo races is pretty barebones, so if you've been playing other modern racers, this one may not hit the mark there. They've put tons of work into making a push for serious online racing, which is good for some, but off-putting for others. There's a schedule for races, rather than just ongoing matchmaking. It's really artful about its presentation, so if the price is right, I think it's worth at least trying out.

I liked previous GTs.
But this one is better than ever. The racing is just second to NONE.
I adored Driveclub before but going back to that now is just a joke.
