This was the big acronym debate of the past. Was GoW Gears of War, or God of War? Well, with Gears 5 it seems that Microsoft has thrown in the towel and given God of War the victory in the acronym wars!
Animal Crossing, Astral Chain, Assassin's Creed, Ace Combat and Armored Core are still going to have to battle that one out.
What about assassins creed?
God of War was always GoW
and Gears of War was always GeoW no ?
Now its Gears.
I've heard both IRL. It's only on the Internet that people are this adamant on calling it Gears. It's called Gears because that's what people call it IRL. Nobody cares what forum nerds call it.
First release: God of War; March 22, 2005
First release: Gears of War; November 7, 2006
There's no debate here.
Same. I've def seen both get the GoW treatment, but this GeoW feels pretty revisionist hahaGod of War was always GoW
I've literally never heard GeoW before this post holy shit lmao
It's been Gears
Yep MK still gets me, since I hang out in Nintendo circles but associate it with Mortal Kombat. This only proves that MK is the biggest acronym war that ever was
specially because the sentences in which they are used can work for both mortal kombat and mario kart since they are all games based on wanting to behead your friends xD
GoW has always been God of War. I think some people used GeoW to differentiate between them.
I have never, ever seen anyone use that before.God of War was always GoW
and Gears of War was always GeoW no ?
Now its Gears.
Spoken, yes. I've never heard anyone say GoW out loud, lol. On the internet people used GoW for both because it's shorter and both were correct, but it became a weird fanboy thing to get mad about it.Gears of War has always been 'gears'. At least among the people I talk to.
Death Stranding has always been DS tho
