Still doubt the new rumor. If Sony wanted to buy the ips, making new versions of them that revitalize the series before buying them will just increase the cost to buy those ips

Konami already did that.

What I meant was that there are games in all series that are considered PlayStation classics, and have a lot of nostalgia associated with them. Capitalizing on the nostalgia factor is in Sony's wheelhouse. What I can see happening are remakes for Metal Gear Solid / Symphony of the Night - and what we already have heard about the plans for Silent Hill.

I mean when viewed through the lens of this rumor, the release of Requiem could be seen as Sony testing the waters. Sony did the work to port it, and this may be why.

Bruh, this happening, there is no doubt in it:

www.gematsu.com

Masahiro Ito working on new title as core member

Silent Hill series monster designer Masahiro Ito is working on a new title as a core member, the illustrator said on Twitter.

All hints converge to it:

Sony Settling Kojima/Konami Feud To Revive Silent Hills On PS5, Says Reliable Leaker

I don't get how Masahiro Ito's talk and a random youtube video points to Sony buying half of Konami's IPs though?

here
The price of those 3 IPs combined wouldn't be anything to scoff at, especially when said company is already in a financial positive position. They hold all the cards when it comes to selling as they have no reason to.
those three would still be a lot cheaper than buying konami outright, especially when they are still investing heavily in gambling

unless sony wants to get into the casino business

looking at konami's website, they are still cranking out casino games

That threadmark update man, wow... I'd definitely take Sony buying those IPs (or licensing them) to make great entries rather than not having shit. Sounds too good to be true though, we'll see.

This rumor thread has spiraled so far out of control. Guys... Please, not everything is connected. Sony getting a hold of Konami's IPs is not something you need lots of originality to think up. That 4chan rumor somewhat lining up with Golem and RelyOnHorror means nothing. I am chosing to believe Golem and Rely on Silent Hill, but come on. Konami without MGS, SH, and Castlevania has close to no worth left. The amount of money that Sony would need to offer up front (Konami would still not sell) to get those big 3... At that point they might as well buy out Konami in full.

Oh, nah I get that. I'm just saying the price of buying those 3 would likely be so high that at that point you might as well consider buying Konami and getting into the casino business lol.

Sega goes multiplatform and Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft. ANYTHING is possible in this busisness.

Now: If Sony indeed bought those IPs, the amount of money in the transaction might be massive, because even if the sagas are dead, Konami knows its value.

Half Of Konami's IPs?

It's just Silent Hill bro not the other IPs.

Also if Dusk Golem and relyononhorror are highlighting this, then I can guarantee you that you must take this for granted.

Edit: why the title is talking about other Konami IPs????

Where is the threadmark? Did anything enw happen?

Edit 2 : NVM I saw them.

No wonder everyone keeps saying this, you're trying to make a point with a mobile game lol

Y'all say Konami is doing nothing, but this is an in-house Konami game.

"Konami has done nothing at all" isn't a correct statement to make, which your post implied. It would be better to say "Konami hasn't made anything I've been interested in since Lords of Shadow 2."

They have been doing stuff for a few years now that fans have picked up on.

- The series has a new series producer, for which Konami is hiding the identity of; they don't do this for one-off projects
- There is interest within this new producer to get Michiru Yamane involved in some musical project related to the series
- Grimoire of Souls has brought back Ayami Kojima as character artist
- This new producer is a producer on the Netflix show, uncredited for reasons above

Something's brewing there. The first implication of this should be the fact the mobile game is bringing back a key figure of the series and is set back in the original canon. You don't bring back a specific version of a fictional universe that's been dead for 10 years on phones after you went all in a reboot to call it a day.

Yeah, the explanation on licensing makes more sense. Like Konami did with Nintendo on MomoDen 3DS.

The Castlevania rumor specifically still reeks of fanboy bs though. Like why would Iga sign on to do a Soulclone series reset? It sounds like someone with zero familiarity with either Iga or CV dreamed it up.

Wonder if Bluepoint's title is one of these.
MGS1 remake is real. 😦

One night, I made a spiteful sentiment of Sony just buying Konami as a form of revenge. The actual likely hood of all their IPs actually being utilized to their fullest extent again.

...I can't believe something like that might actually be happening.

Us fans of Konami games...this could be OUR Chapter 3...

The threadmark is talking about Castlevania, MGS and co. That's what my post was referring to.
Like, Sony is not buying back/licensing half of Konami's IPs like people are hoping for since six years. Silent Hill alone maybe, that's a possibility but that's it lol

That MGS rumor will melt my face off. Please be true, and what an stunning move by Sony. This is a megaton if true. Get him away from any experimental Death Stranding style games, imo it was a complete waste of his time. Of course, he should so what he wants, i pray he's now got that shit out of his system and goes back to narrative heavy stealth/combat games.

What he said! ☝️

Just let Kojima make weird new stuff like Death Stranding and whatever he comes up with. And if they do acquire Metal Gear rights though, I hope they give money to Platinum to make us another Metal Gear Rising. Pretty please Sony, and thank you!

Genuinely though, the only scenario I could see happening is that Konami could co-produce/license a reboot of Silent Hills to Sony, have it being done under Sony's first party studios and release it as a PS5 exclusive. It certainly wouldn't sell less than a Death Stranding nor cost more.

Well if it's true at least. I expect the whole thing to be fake tbh. But its not out of the realm of possibility.

Alright, let's see what happens. I loved both Lords of Shadow games so I hope we get another 3D Castlevania soon

This sounds like a slippery slope of bad ideas where these sort of IPs are owned by the wealthiest companies. Google will have a 10-year licensing deal with FIFA. Apple will buy Take-Two Interactive. All it takes is one major shift in balance and companies will panic. This mentality has to stop before it even begins.
Company that has been making games for more than 2 decades, is successful in it and is part of its primary business licenses famous IPs. Yeah, that's a slippery slope alright.

Please lets nip this shit in the bud. A third of Era legit thinking either Sony being willing to spend an industry shifting amount of money on those IPs, or Konami being willing to part with their 3 most valuable legacy IPs, making their existance pointless, is migraine inducing.

This clearly isn't happening, I mean I believe a joint venture between Sony and Konami for a Silent Hill Project. Both gain from that.

Sony buying their IP though sounds like huge amount of bullshit. I'd love them to bring Castlevania back though....

If Sony buys the IP or at least the license, you'll get the big budget games, but Sony devoting their own studios and money on IP's they don't own whilst Konami relaxes in swimming pools full of pachinko money feels wrong.

But if you have profitable IPs, that's what you do. Konami stunting. Smart business for Konami... Questionable for Sony

And to call into question the IGA reboot rumors.

- IGA said a year ago he'd work with Konami again on the original canon. He implied he owed fans two games, and fans knew he was referring to the events of 1897 and 1999.
- The series currently has a producer that isn't Koji Igarashi.

Why do they need him to reboot it when he has expressed interest to finish what he started? That part of the rumor looks to just be highlighting key staff that worked on Bloodstained. Shutaro Iida was game director to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

If it wanted to be more credible, it would have outed who the current producer of the Castlevania IP is, not notable staff from the most recent "Castlevania" game from ex-Konami employees.

I'm open to the possibility that Sony might want to make a Castlevania game if there's weight with them and Silent Hill, but none of the specifics we've heard add up. It tries to add weight by naming someone people are familiar with, who isn't in charge of the series anymore. But by doing so, it shows it's probably just a 4chan post.

You'd figure someone leaking from "inside Konami" would know the current producer...

God no. Kojima Metal Gear or just go home. A Platinum made MG would just sting thinking we could be getting a real MG instead.

I don't believe that Sony did the work on those ports. There's no link to prove they did, as you would expect from a news outlet making claims like that. The editor of that website says that they have sources close to Sony, which - again - is hard to believe as they have a history of making such wild inaccurate claims over Twitter. It actually makes me think that most of their reporting is actually not that reliable.

Makes ZERO sense for Konami to sell those IPs. If, and this is a big IF they are doing sonething, it might be Sony having rights to use Konami IP for game development (taking all costs on thenselves) but Konami is not walking away from that long-term money. If they can do fuck all but make money off someone else working their IPs, they'll take it.
