Yeah, the only great boss in the first half of Dark Souls 3 is the Abyss Watchers. Iudex Gundyr and Vordt are okay, but the rest are pretty poor.
Gimmick bosses are okay if you spread them out, but there's too many early on. Crystal Sage, Deacons, Wolnir and all of them terrible. Crystal Sage feels incredibly out-of-place.
I am about half way through Dark Souls 3 and this game is REALLY starting to grow on me. If the game can keep up this level of quality it will be my favorite Souls Game. The entire series is starting to become my favorite series. Dark Souls 1, for all its strengths and weaknesses didn't really do all that much for me. I heard that Dark Souls 2 was not very good but I loved it. So when Dark Souls 3 is in the humble monthly bundle I purchased it without hesitation. Dark Souls 3 level design is some of the best I seen in a very long time.
I think the Crystal Sage would look better in a darker environment.
All these boss fights are a-ok with me though, I like Crystal Sage, Wolnir, Deacons. I enjoy the variety.
I wouldn't disagree with that. I remember on my first plathrough enjoying the boss a lot because of the great design and also I thought it was the best iteration yet of the Dragon God/Bed of Chaos type boss fight. For me, Wolnir is just a waste of a really cool looking boss. It would be fine if attacking the bracelets was just its first phase, but that's the entire fight. It can be over in a minute if your weapon is strong enough.
I don't get the love for the Abyss Watchers. They're basically a poor man's Lady Maria.Yeah, the only great boss in the first half of Dark Souls 3 is the Abyss Watchers. Iudex Gundyr and Vordt are okay, but the rest are pretty poor.
BB's second half is saved by the trio of Logarius, Ebrietas, and Gehrman, bosswise (along with OH).Out of place in what way? Lore wise, I think it makes sense. I can't really think of any other way for the Sage to be out of place. I think the early game bosses are decent enough, being the early game and all. The game gradually builds up in difficulty like any good video game. Dark Souls 3 is probably the most consistent in its boss quality. There is a good balance of weaker and stronger bosses throughout the entire game. Much unlike DS1 where it takes a steep dive downhill after the half way point, or BB where the quality of bosses slowly decline after Amelia. And DS2 is, uh, well, they're all just forgettable save for a few.
I have a question in regards to Bloodborne. I just heard through the grapevine that the more insight you have the harder the game gets. Im at the Blood Moon phase in the game and currently have 49 insight. Should i spend it? This is my first souls game, so bare with me. Im new.

And I actually kinda like how easy the first Gundyr fight is, since it lulls people into a false sense of security during the first half of the rematch, before promptly beating your ass in the second.

Executioner's Chariot down:
What is the deal with the NPC that you find in this area? I can talk to him, but then he pretty much tells me to leave.
Which is?You have to have the item that his covenant uses as reward tokens, then you can talk to him .
Purchased the season pass for DS3 yesterday and i love Dark Souls and all, but why do i have no ingame notification how to access the new areas?
Don't remember if Bloodborne had something like a notification for the DLC in order to access it without looking for help in the web.
Logarius and Gehrman, sure. But I never understood the praise Ebrietas got. She swings some tentacles around and smashes her face into the floor for a minute and half and then she is dead. I remember on my first playthrough all I did was get behind her and she was helpless. Was pretty disappointed.
But yeah, Old Hunters makes up for the second half of BB stupendously. Hands down the best bosses of the whole franchise.
How can one mention awesome new weapons and not mention the Bloodletter? The Old Hunters has
- Some of the coolest looking areas in the series (Research Hall, Astral Clocktower, Fishing Hamlet)
- Some of the coolest lore in the series (OoK washing up on the shore of the hamlet, the experiments happening at the Research Hall)
- Ludwig, Maria, Laurence, and Orphan of Kos, four of the best bosses in the entire franchise
- Cool characters like Simon and Yamamura
- Awesome new weapons (the Whirligig Saw and Kos Parasite being the obvious highlights)
Best DLC in the series easily. One of the best DLCs ever.
Cool design, but probably my least favorite Bloodborne boss. The camera is a bastard, and there's no good place to lock on. It resulted in too many whiffs when I should have been in a good position to land a hit.
You pretty much need a weapon with a good over head attack that can reliably hit his head.Cool design, but probably my least favorite Bloodborne boss. The camera is a bastard, and there's no good place to lock on. It resulted in too many whiffs when I should have been in a good position to land a hit.
and that jump and drop attack that loops constantly when you are close to Amygdala is annoying as hell
Rakuyo thoughHow can one mention awesome new weapons and not mention the Bloodletter?
If locking on you should always, always lock-on to the head. Sometimes it's necessary to lock-off and manually adjust/reposition but only lock on to the head and stay in front of it. Bait its attacks, after it's tone trashing about or doing whatever it does, the head lowers for a 2 second or so window and you can get 1 or 2 hits on it. Rinse repeat, you'll get a visceral opportunity on the head at some point too.Cool design, but probably my least favorite Bloodborne boss. The camera is a bastard, and there's no good place to lock on. It resulted in too many whiffs when I should have been in a good position to land a hit.
Yes that is also good. I'm just new to the Bloodletter because my skill and arcane builds couldn't use it and it took me forever to deal with the DLC on my NG+ skill/bloodtinge character.
That's the best attack to kill her!and that jump and drop attack that loops constantly when you are close to Amygdala is annoying as hell
You should be able to find a dungeon code that will guarantee a Blood Rock instead of farming for a chance.Speaking of Blood Rock, is it worth farming depth 5 dungeons for a chance at a rock?
I really wish there was a dupe glitch, I understand having to make a choice on what weapon to max but man, come on. I guess you can buy for 60 insigt but that takes an ridiclous amount of farming.
Or at least sell them for like 1 000 000 blood echoes each
I know its mid FebI can't believe they haven't even shown yet a single screenshot of Dark Souls Remastered.
Whirligig sawI really like the Burial Blade transformation animation.
What are your guys favorite?
The basis for these vids is that he's been using nothing but the stuff that comes with the starting build. No rings, no dropping armor, no new weapons, nothing but what comes with the build. He's been beating the game in under three hours for these runs, he's done a bunch. Some have drove him crazy-ish.I only watch ENB on YT not on twitch, but I think he's been doing casual DS1 runs with each class, and this is just follow on thoughts from that on which classes starting gear is best to use throughout the game, without switching to other weapons or armour. I think it's also a bit of a tongue in cheek dig at some other Souls YTers who churn out these kind of videos.

Whirligig Saw is one of my favorites, that and I've always liked the Kirkhammer's.I really like the Burial Blade transformation animation.

Hi all,
I'm replaying Bloodborne, just took out Logarius, contemplating when to jump into The Old Hunters for the very first time. I know beating the last boss will fuck me, but, other than that, is there an event that will lock me out of the DLC?
I appreciate any... insight.
Nope - nothing blocks you from it, apart from the final boss. Even that doesn't really block you, just means you have to do it in NG+ - which I wouldn't recommend for a first time - I jumped in around Level 70 or so first time.
In these games? Absolutely hahaha
