I feel like Bloodborne demands a second playthrough with a guide if you blindly run in like I do with first time characters. So many of the quests and quest triggers are tied to the moon cycle, and I just discovered it's final phase. Brautiful, haunting, AMAZING, 10/10 game right there with DS1 for me....
Just wish I could see what collecting all the umbilical cords would result in, unfortunately I returned to the clinic too early. Ah well. NG it will be!
I swear, I must be the only one who had no problem with the SotFS Iron Keep. In fact I found it less annoying to go through, because in vanilla that archer on the side just annoyed the shit out of me, and he's gone in Scholar.
Alonne Knights are easy to kill. Why are people bitching so much about them? They die in like 2 hits from the average weapon. If you have trouble staggering them, the Stone Ring fixes that instantly.
...Do people not use the Stone Ring or understand how it works? It's a really useful ring that makes a big difference, y'all.

I haven't used Stone Ring for a bit. I think I use the ring that decreases the health you lose when you die, ring of blades, Chloranthy and some other thing over it.
I'm just about to wrap up this Bloodborne playthrough . It's my first time doing the dlc which is phenomenal . Stuck on Kos... boy makes Ludwig look free .
Well I don't know what to tell you, other than I never had an issue with those knights and neither did most people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Change of subject: this topic came up on another forum and I was wondering what SoulsEra thought :)
1. What Soulsborne boss (you can also include Nioh or not, if you want, I don't mind) has killed you the most often in the entire series?
Optional additional questions:
2. What about biggest death count per game?
3. What about optional vs non-optional?
4. Which boss(es) have never killed you, not once? (For those who do repeat playthroughs, multiple characters/builds and so on)
(You should specify if you used summons or not, too, probably...)
For myself: I haven't kept track of my exact # of deaths across all games, obviously, but out of curiosity I did keep track for Dark Souls 3. For the rest, I'm going by memory.
1. Either Manus at SL1 in Dark Souls (probably close to 40-50 attempts), or the Iga-Style mission in Nioh (no idea of the count but it must be up there). For Manus at SL1, I estimate based on the number of green blossoms I had in my inventory. I started at 99, popped one before every attempt, sometimes popped a second one (often died before even doing that). I was down to under 45 blossoms by the time I won, IIRC.
2.
- Demon's Souls: Flamelurker or Maneaters. Can't remember the number, but they gave me a lot of trouble whereas most other bosses went down in 1 or 2 tries.
- Dark Souls: Manus at SL1. At normal levels/playthroughs, probably S&O, maybe Kalameet later on. Can't remember.
- Dark Souls 2: honestly, it's probably the vanilla Ancient Dragon, though now he doesn't scare me at all anymore. It might also be Smelter Demon or the Ivory King. I'm not entirely sure.
- Dark Souls 3: Sister Friede, by far. In the vanilla game, either Nameless King or L&L (probably Nameless King).
- Bloodborne: defiled Watchdog, defiled Amygdala
- Nioh: Iga-Style
3. Highest # of deaths from a non-optional boss for me... Manus at SL1, yes, but that's a specific playthrough. For regular playthroughs: Sister Friede. Fuck, she killed me so often it's ridiculous. If we don't count DLCs, probably L&L in Dark Souls 3, to be honest. No other mandatory boss killed me that often and still kinda scare me to solo (Flamelurker killed me lots as a noob, but I'd find him complete cake today) than these two.
4. A lot of it is from memory, but here goes:
- Phalanx
- Adjudicator (not 100% sure, but I think so)
- Storm King (see above)
- Leechmonger
- Dirty Colossus
- Old King Allant (not the False King, and yes I know it barely counts)
- Crossbreed Priscilla (not 100% sure, but confident enough)
- Gravelord Nito (see above)
- Pinwheel
- Last Giant (pretty sure)
- Dragonrider
- Flexile Sentry
- Mytha
- Covetous Demon
- Guardian Dragon
- Prowling Magus & Congregation
- Aldia (I think)
- Curse-Rotted Greatwood
- Yhorm
- Dancer of the Boreal Valley (except when trying to kill her early)
- Oceiros (not 100% sure)
- Cleric Beast
- Shadows of Yharnam
- Celestial Emissary
- Moon Presence
And I think every Nioh boss has killed me at least once (if not on NG then on NG+ or later) except Derrick the Executioner and maybe Joro-gumo.

Excellent idea! I'll preface my answers by saying they're all from memory, and I've not played the entire series... But it's still a fun exercise regardless! I've only played DS1, DS2 with its DLC but not Scholar of the First Sin edition, and am 3/4ths of the way through Bloodborne right now.
Nioh, DS3, and DS2 Scholar are all on my to do list though!
1. Blue Smelter Demon aka Blueberry aka just fuck off.
2.
DS1: Havel the Rock- I must've thrown myself at it fifty times the first time I played, trying to get that sweet, sweet armor.
DS2: Blue Smelter Demon.
BB: Easily Rom the Vacuous Spider at an easy thirty deaths, probably closer to forty plus. Two hits kills from the spider slashes? Blue homing missles that can one hit kill? The thrashing? If I didn't summon others, the bastard bled me out as I sprinted-slashed-back slid one hits at a time. Wonderful encounter, but infuriating sometimes. An Undead Giant in an advanced chalice dungeon is giving me an awful time too.
3. Optional bosses always have some extra special sauce that absolutely wrecks me- the three piece hit squad at the bottom of the Sunken King's DLC in DS2 halted my progress entirely as I cannot defeat them, even with both NPCs. Kalameet destroyed me, I haven't tried since my first attempts years ago. That will be most interesting to do in Remastered I think. Same with the invisible cat in DS2's icy DLC, never got past it. Smelter Demon? Forget it. I was so fucking pissed at the end of all of these events that I've calmly walked away to enjoy other games.
4. They've all slayed me more than a few times, hahaha.

Just completed Dark Souls 3 and loved every second of it. My favorite Souls game of the trilogy. Some of the best level design I have seen in a very long time.
Basing it on my faulty memory and not counting the chalice dungeon crap or Nioh because that stuff is just BS:
1.
It's probably Orphan. The only boss that I still die to numerous times on a playthrough.
2.
For DS1 it was probably Kalameet. I first jumped into the DLC at a higher NG and the black dragon wasn't very forgiving. Considered him an arch enemy for a long time. Now I just kick his ass though and it feels good.
For DS2, hard to really say because it's DS2 and all. Maybe Ivory King? It's the only boss I've ever summoned for so I assume he probably killed me most. It's a fun fight to coop though.
For BB it's Orphan.
For DS3 it's probably Gael. Only boss in that game that actually frustrated me. That was a sweaty night.
3. Guess I'll just say Orphan again for non-optional. For optional it's probably Kalameet.
4. Honestly, I've died to just about every boss save for some DS2 bosses that are unmemorable. Even the likes of Pinwheel and Celestial Emissary because I think I was fucking around a bit too much. Ah, actually the fat tree from DS3 has never killed me. Yeah, there is something.

1. Orphon of Kos, took the most time out of any other boss.
2. DS1: Ceaseless Discharge. Getting the timing down on the exact iframes needed to dodge his two attacks took forever.
DS2: Elana, holy shit the adds made this fight such a pain in the ass.
DS3: Midir, first fight that I actually felt I went up against a dragon that moved and acted like one.
BB: Orphan of Kos, because that's going to be everyone's response.
3. From the above list, it looks like the optional bosses kick my ass more.
4. Nobody is going to believe me but, Ornstein and Smough. I one-shot them in my first playthrough of Dark Souls and never went back. Also. Four Kings, Gwyn, Nashandra, The Rotten, Guardian Dragon, Dragonrider, Demon of Song, Scorpioness Najka, those three guys in the Sunken Temple, Abyss Watchers, Deacons of the Deep, Kiln of the First Flame.
(I just realized I never died to the final boss of any Dark Souls Game O.o)

1. Easily Dancer. I threw myself at the boss at least 50 times to get her down on my first playthrough.
2. Nioh > DS3 > Bloodborne > DS2. Ironically DS2 is the only one I've finished so far. I am getting absolutely wrecked in Nioh, but the game is a lot of fun once you get into the swing of things.
3. Old Demon King put the beat down on me as an optional boss. I kept getting tangled up in his weapon/legs, so I died like 15 times to him.
4. A bunch in DS2. Outside of that I can't really think of any in DS3--I have played through the first half or so of the game like 3 separate times and died at least once you every boss I think. Funny enough, I beat Rom first try in Bloodborne, and apparently a lot of people struggled with that fight at first.
I saw a vid. I have dumb luck though and like no endurance. I think mine is about 8 End, not that it really matters. I sure hope I don't need heavy armor at some point in this game.

Funny enough due to the bullshit that is the second half of Iron Keep I'm starting to want to put more into dex for my bow or int for hexes/magic. What are the soft caps? 40? I have 22 faith and 20 into as well as I think 29 or 30 dex.

For when you gotta kill something without wading through an obstacle course or get ambushed you lob arrows at it till it dies. I think that stuff or at least the golems are weak to dark magic. Dark orb messes them up pretty badly or at least takes a decent chunk off. I really need to raise my faith, but I have no idea for what spell I need 40 faith for.
Only played Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 so far (planning to get Dark Souls Remastered for Switch), the hardest bosses for me are:
- Orphan of Kos; this bastard didn't let me finish the DLC, his second phase is too much.
- Ludwig; same DLC incredibly hard boss. I cheated and summoned.
- Sulyvahn; DS3 the area the boss the music, all fantastic, but he killed me countless times.
- Nameless King; didn't beat him, altough i haven't tried that often, he was optional so i tought i would try another time somewhere/somehow
- The Twins in DS3; they were an absolute pain in the ass.
Currently playing DS3 DLC Painted World of Ariandel. Maneged to get to Sister, who suppousedly is the boss of the area. Didn't face another boss so i assume she is the only one in this first DLC? Am I missing something?

1. Ludwig I'm pretty sure. Only boss that I spent like hours and hours on.
2. Of the games that I've played from start to finish
- Demon's Souls : Armored Spider
- Dark Souls : Kalameet
- Bloodborne : Ludwig
3. Dark Souls: Ornstein and Smough probably killed me the most among the required bosses
Bloodborne: Vicar Amelia probably killed me most among required bosses
4. eh, let's see
- Phalanx
- Leechmonger
- Pinwheel
- Fool's Idol
- Dragon God
- Dirty Collossus
- The One Reborn
- Taurus Demon
- Moon Presence
- Celestial Emmisary
- Moonlight Butterfly
- Adjucator
- Gaping Dragon
- Iron Golem
- Witches of Hemwick
- Micolash
- Ebrietas
- Penetrator
- Amygdala
- Old Hero
- Maiden Astrea
- Storm King
- Old Monk
............ dont let that list try to make it look like im good at these games.
I'm really itching to replay DS1, but I want to wait until the Switch version. So, I think I'm going to replay through SotFS, since I think there was 1 or 2 DLC I never completed and it's been a few years. Thing is, I've always been a garbage DS player. I tend to over level while tanking my way through everything and being slow as molasses. Instead, I want to try maybe a DEX build. I want to be more agile, so I can focus on timing and countering instead of just tanking hits while right bumper spamming. It's what I liked about Bloodborne and to a lesser extent DS3, but I remember the hitboxes and movement being kind of shit in DS2, to be blunt.
Any build ideas? Something that's not Havel'ing through the game.
Nope, I didn't venture much into chalice stuff at all. I usually have a giant backlog so I tend to just cover all of the important stuff and move on when it comes to longer games like Soulsborne stuff. I really probably just got lucky with some of those (I mean, I've had bad luck too. Like how I died to Sif like 20 times)
I assume that it's terrible though. Just watched a video of that Amygdala and it does NOT look fun.

Decided to play Demon's Souls one last time before the servers shut down. I was finally able to beat that tutorial boss without dying. Felt kind of bittersweet. Hopefully there's a remaster in the works.

There has to be. Probably going to use Dark Souls Remaster to gauge interest in remastering the older games, and go from there, but I find it hard to believe they would just shutter a game like Demon's Souls which lead to the most successful run From Software has had to date. I think because of Dark Souls, a remastered Demon's Souls would outsell its original release upwards of 2:1.
Also, Demon's Souls is (or rather was) on sale on PSN for $9.99. Might be worth grabbing for anyone with a PS3 kicking around.
Take back what i said earlier now SOULS III is my favorite of the SouldBorne series <3
Bloodborne has slightly better art direction (though they are surprisingly similar at times) and much more interesting lore (can't one bit of the Souls lore nonsense), but SOULS 3 is much more fun to fight, you can roll or use your shield, vary weapons or playstyles (though its limited on first playthrough) , it has has a much better soundtrack, more varied stages, ok framerate if you play PC, more weapons better health managment etc.
Its more linear but thats not annoying on this time of game imo, one question don't you guys would prefer if the series had more cutscenes or it would ruin the mood? I feel like a couple more won't hurt at all.

Have I missed something? I thought that a company called QLoc was doing the PC, PS4 and Xbox version, with a company called Virtuos doing the Switch version. From are involved but not majorly, as far as I knew.
Flamelurker (maybe? It's been so long), Ornstein and Smough, Fume Knight (CoC), Ludwig and Midir gave me the most trouble in each game. O&S was probably the hardest of them all, at the time.
Sister Frida is a great boss. It starts contemplative, but once you hit the second and third stage it becomes a spectacle.
How is the Ringed City expansion?
