STREET FIGHTER LEAGUE
Street Fighter League: Pro-US 2020 is a new 3-on-3 Team Battle tournament series featuring Street Fighter™ V: Champion Edition. Six teams comprised of three players each will compete over the course of one year to determine who will take home the Street Fighter League: Pro-US 2020 Championship. The pandemic being what it is, this is essentially the only chance to watch in-person tournament-level play of SFV this year. No netcode shenanigans here.

In contrast to the previous two seasons, this one is an international affair, with teams with players from all over the world (except Japan), definitely making it a more exciting event. It's no small-time tourney anymore, SFL has multiple Capcom Cup and CPT champs!

The teams this season are:

BIOGRAPHY
Derek "iDom" Ruffin reigns as the 2019 Capcom Cup champion thanks to his dominance with jiu-jitsu master Laura and a surprising secondary in Poison. His Grand Finals set against fellow East Coast beast Victor "Punk" Woodley left the crowd gripping their seats in anticipation — especially those who had watched Season 1 of Street Fighter League and witnessed the thunderstorm of pwnage that electrocuted his opponents when Laura was finally freed. We can thank SFL's character ban system for iDom's Poison, a brand-new fighter he might not have otherwise chosen, for leading him to victory against his longtime training partner, Punk.

Captain:

BIOGRAPHY
Victor "Punk" Woodley is largely hailed as one of Street Fighter V's greatest players. Breaking into the competitive scene in 2016, Punk dominated the competition in 2017 and then went on to obliterate it in 2019 by racking up a record-breaking 4,815 CPT points. He even scored a spot in the Grand Final of CAPCOM Cup 2019. Woodley's winning ways with Karin and Kolin decorate the standings of the SFL as well. He took Team Inferno to first place in Season 1 and a strong third in Season 2. Will Season 3 see him pull out another pocket character to demoralize the opposing team? Watch and find out.

Captain:
s3-dy-smug.png

BIOGRAPHY
Bryant "Smug" Huggins is a famously skilled Street Fighter player with rich history throughout the series' competitive lifetime. Hailing from the East Coast, Smug was forged in the fires of New York's Next Level Battle Circuit and became synonymous with pugilists Dudley and Balrog. While he has since picked up G in Street Fighter V, Smug's history in the franchise cannot be understated, with the pro having competed in the Capcom Pro Tour since its inception in 2014. He debuted as captain of Team Pyscho in Season 2 of Street Fighter League and is ready to pass out scoops left and right in Season 3.

Captain:
s3-nasr-bigbird.png

BIOGRAPHY
Adel "Big Bird" Anouche stands near the top of the global CPT rankings in 7th place. Best known for using Rashid, Big Bird's near-surgical playstyle has propelled him to the summit of SFV's competition. Hailing from the UAE, Big Bird put his region on the map in a huge way by making Grand Finals at EVO against none other than Masato "Bonchan" Takahashi. Then, just two months later, the Middle-Eastern pro made a massive splash by taking both the European Regional Final and the Open Premier in mind-blowing back-to-back victories. His dominating performances throughout 2019 will make SFL Season 3 that much more exciting.

Captain:
s3-ps-hotdog29.png

BIOGRAPHY
Yeh Man Ho, better known to fighting game players as "HotDog29," has been competing in Street Fighter V since 2017 — but his breakout year occurred in 2019. Famous for using Shadaloo dictator M. Bison as his main character, HotDog29 notably shook the table against Zangief main "Kichipa-mu" at China's PPL Masters, where he took a Premier win in spite of what he deemed to be an "impossible" matchup.

TEAM UYU

Captain:
s3-uyu-oil-king.png

BIOGRAPHY
Li-Wei "Oil King" Lin is known for more than his short shorts: UYU's top Rashid player has also proven to be a serious threat in bracket, scoring 12th place in the 2019 Global Rankings. Hailing from Taiwan, Oil King took top placements throughout the season, most notably at Final Round, EGX, and Canada Cup. His final performance in the 2019 CPT was to tie for 9th at Capcom Cup. Having competed in the Capcom Pro Tour since the beginning of SFV's lifetime and chosing his tag as a means for fans to remember him by, there's no way viewers could ever forget the King of short shorts — nor his tournament results, for that matter.

Note: Originally ProblemX, Infexious, Phenom, NL and NuckleDu were going to be in Season 3, but due to COVID-related reasons had to withdraw or decline, and were replaced by JB, SKZ, Caba, MenaRD and Gamerbee.

This was great, I really missed watching tournies this year and this has been the closest to that. CPT Online just doesn't cut it for uh obvious reasons. :P Capcom really upped the budget and overall presentation quality, really felt like a pro event. RobTV is great as the host and TastySteve is always awesome on the mic.

Updated the thread with a bit more information about SFL. If there's enough interest I'll try to keep the thread up to date as the season goes on. :p

Seth is the main or go-to secondary for so many players here it's kind of ridiculous. Guess if CPT was a thing we would've heard lots of calls to nerf him by now.

Street Fighter League Japan Season 2020 is done (for now).

Ended with a classic match up, Daigo vs Tokido. Also, both of their teams qualified for grand finals alongside Nemo. The top 2 teams will face off against the eventual top 2 teams from the US.

Just finished binging the US SFL from week 1 to 7.

Didn't realise the Japanese version is now translated. Need to watch that too as well.
