Title says all. I'm really curious to hear if SwitchERA is picking this up as Dragon's Dogma is one of my favourite games ever and I'd love to see newer players get into it. IMO, I think it has one of the best magic systems in gaming and sublime combat for an open-world action RPG. With its WRPG influences taking inspiration from Oblivion and Fable II, I'd imagine this game would be up the alley of many people on here. I'm definitely getting it as Dragon's Dogma handheld will be great.

I think I will, I have just seen it on the eShop and am kinda surprised that the game is reasonably priced. Heard good things about the game so I am looking forward to it.

Have it on steam but this game would be a nice gem for people who enjoy handheld mode such as myself. At lease capcom didnt go crazy with the pricing of this game.

I will, but once it goes on sale. Got the Switch on black Friday and still working on BoTW, Odyssey, Mario x Rabids, and a few indies.

I've always heard good things about this game but I've never played it. Looking at that sword gameplay above it looks almost like Monster Hunter. Does it play like Monster Hunter at all? Is playing a bow user engaging?

It's honestly the closest you'll get to MHW on the Switch, especially with the mounting system. Dragon's Dogma feels like a precursor to MHW gameplay-wise.

I'm not 100% sure.
Capcom games are pretty clunky, MH feels really bad and DMC a bit stiff. An older 360 era game might be a bit rough but I also don't have much to play for the next few months and it's cheap.

I'll consider it

Yep! I've always been interested by people telling me that this is basically an ARPG(?) Monster Hunter game, and I missed the boat last gen and for the remaster. $39 (Canadian) makes it even more enticing. I REALLY hope the performance is good, cause that's the one thing that would kill my interest for the game.

I bought Dragon's Dogma on PC. The game is GREAT in terms of its combat system, but the story isn't working for me. The pawn system feels like a disjointed system leftover from the days when every game needed some sort of online connectivity and was ultimately shoe-horned in. If they'd actually taken the time to write an engaging story, it'd probably be one of my favorite RPGs.

Yeah, but not until, like, October at the earliest. I've bought more games in the past six months than I've ever purchased in any given three-year period. Plus I'm a college student.

I'll live without for awhile. lol

YEAH, but I'll probably pick it up on sale in a couple of months. I've really wanted to play it since it came out years ago but never got around to it. Right now I have too many games I've started and should finish before I start another big one.

I got both versions on ps3 when they came out and loved them. I eventually bought the ps4 remaster when it was on sale one time, but havent started it yet. I have no desire to get the switch version since it will just look worse and run worse than the ps4 version I already own, and I almost never use the switch undocked. Still I hope it does well enough because more people showing capcom there is an audience for the game could increase chances of an eventual sequel.

This does remind me of dragons dogma online though, did it just get abandoned (I think there were complaints about lack of content)? I remember when it was announced hoping it would get released outside japan since it looked decent enough for a spinoff.

Previous owner here. I was offput by the lack of additions to what seems like a barebones port. I recently was gifted the PS3 version which made me decide to revisit it again. I'm having a blast, so I'm pretty sure I'll probably get it again later down the line on Switch if it drops in price.

Probably, if I am able to import a retail copy. Fuck Capcom and their digital only releases in Europe.

I played a bit on PS3 but it didn't click with me. I might try it again later in the summer.

It's doing extremely well in Japan and making Capcom bank. In fact, a new season got announced recently. I played it a few weeks back and it's so good that I wish Capcom brought it over here.

no. I have access to it through steam library sharing but from the 3 hours or so I've played of it, I dislike just about everything about it.

portable play probably isn't going to help

I'll wait until it's 15 or so, Capcom ports are not a thing worth caring.

I'm a Switch owner, but my plan is it pick up the PS4 version later this or next month. May pick up the Switch port instead if it's very good though.

Maybe but definitely not at launch price.

And no, it's not because of their recent statement: i think Switch users are sick and tired of hearing that bs, 2 years after launch.

Nope. Never played it and it doesn't look like something I'd enjoy. I know a lot like it, but being on Switch isn't enough to get me to buy.

Not day one. I would appreciate a demo too, I don't know anything about this game but... it feels so old, right now it's not appealing me despite my love for Action-RPG and open worlds.

Yup, this and darksiders. Which one would you guys consider to be the better game?
IMO Darksiders is the better game, but is less ambitious (GoW/Zelda inspired). Dragon's Dogma has good ideas but the game is REALLY repetitive (same voice lines all the time, going to the same city and the same places constantly, low enemy variety in the base game...) and the story is really bad. If you're into good combat and some D&D inspired action, go for it, but be aware that it has tons of flaws, some of them big.

I was planning to, if performance was sound.

But after Capcom revealed the prices of the upcoming Resident Evil ports, that consideration is no longer there.

I preordered it before my GCU membership expired last month.

The game looks janky as hell in those videos in the OP, but certain people have raved about the game so I'll give it a go
