Plus seven million since last data we've had. XVI and the Pixel Remasters probably a huge chunk of this increase.

The greatest gaming series ever created imo. The series completely paved the way for my gaming life.

SOP sold about 1.9m copies, hopefully that is good enough for a sequel. Thank you for sharing!

My favorite franchise period. Heck, my wife and I probably wouldn't even be together if not for FF.

Huh. Biggest shocker here for me is Assassin's Creed's numbers.

I would caution against using this too thoroughly. It has FF7 Remake at over nine million. It isn't.

Amazing series. One of my favorites in gaming, even if they're not all the same high quality. I would have to look through my collection to see how many of these games I own. I triple dipped on a lot of them.

My life was never the same after my cousin convinced me to play FF4DS.

My favorite series along with Resident Evil. I kind of hope XVI isn't the future direction of the series though. :(

Please bring the crystals back!
I'm guessing you haven't played XVI because the crystals play a very critical role in that game. They're clearly going nowhere.

And the future looks bright under the 2 divisions handling the main games currently. XVI just released (and is great), FF7 Rebirth isnt far off (and looks great) and we arent that far away from seeing the FF14 Expansion.

Why did we never get an update on 7 remake sales?
Probably hasn't hit a milestone worth tweeting about, also being on ps plus after just a year probably affected legs. All we know is it's somewhere between 5-10 million, since I'd imagine they would have said if it hit 10

And we know this how?

Here's a link to a post from Alex Donaldson this past January (who I'm not tagging with his user name here since he's a busy fellow) gauging FF7 Remake's sales as somewhere between 6 and 7 million. Feel free to dismiss this for any reason under the sun! But it's ample for me.

Furthermore, here's Square Enix's press release regarding FF7 Rebirth's Summer Game Fest trailer, which continues to cite the 'over five million worldwide' number that's been tossed around for three years. Again, I get if you want to dismiss this - and maybe I shouldn't have spoken so empirically earlier! IMHO, it adds up!

Entire FF franchise = GTA V
perspectives make narratives. This is one helluva milestone that doesn't need silly comparisons.

Mario has sold like twice as much as all GTA combined and probably something like Tetris as well. GTA6 gonna crush again, but you know, any dev would kill to have FF numbers, except for the rare and exceptional bunch that actually outsell it.

Because Square would be shouting about it from the rooftops if it did.

If it sold 7 million they would be doing that

It definitely sold more than 6 million, yet they didn't update.

I reckon they're waiting for bigger milestones like 8 or 10. With Rebirth marketing ramping up later this year, I imagine some more aggressive sales too and they'll surely hit at least 8m.

FF7 sold 7 million is the easiest PR ever

It's been 3 years if it has happened yet they would have said something.

Please bring the crystals back!
Counterpoint: excluding XVI, the greatness of each game has a negative correlation to the importance of crystals to the overarching plot.
2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 > everything else. (I haven't played 5 yet so can't judge that one).
