Crazy how fast this game is blowing up! I wonder how many views this will end up in the next few months as we get closer to the release date.

I wouldn't exactly call it "crazy". It's one of the most anticipated games of 2020 of course it will get a lot of YouTube views and social media interaction.

When you compare the amount of views that all the trailers got, the latest State of Play was basically the 'The Last of Us Pt 2 + A Bunch of Other Things' edition.

You can call the performance crazy even if it's a highly anticipated title, like when it sells 20 million that would be the definition of crazy but at the same time not surprising.

Is it really shocking? It's quite arguably THE game of 2020 (only challenged by Cyberpunk) and looks to be an amazing sequel. Of course it would have a lot of views.

Not surprising at all. People have been waiting 3 years for this and tlou1 is one of the most loved games last gen. Yet people say ff7r would hurt its sales. If anything ff7r would be more of the one hurt.

What's crazy is we only had ONE game so far in the franchise and it's this popular.

Is there a place were you can see the numbers per hours or something?

It is just an informal take from me. I am analyzing based on social media interactions and views. The only game that gather more attention than TLOU2 outside of E3 is Cyberpunk.

Now when you put E3 on the line is a whole different story since ganes gets some kind of "forced exposition" there. But still, if you look at E3 2018 stats the pattern is the same. The most viewed trailer was CP2077 followed by TLOU2 gameplay.

It's "The Last of Us" after all.... a name with one entry only had established itself as one of the finest names in the industry.

I'd reckon the next game that takes YT world by storm will be GTAVI and GoW2 trailers. Also, congrats to ND.

BTW, do these views counts take into account duplicate uploads from other channels as well as reaction videos?

And people are still surprised why Sony is spending less and less money on doing conferences. Nowadays they are basically useless.

These numbers are great for a trailer that came out just a few hours ago. The gameplay reveal has 14M after 1 year and it's already the 8th most watched trailer on Playstation YT channel. All videos ahead of it are from 6, 4, 3 years ago.

Crazy numbers for The Last of Us.

Uh huh.

It was revealed on SoP to hundreds of thousands of viewers. Then shared on YouTube, the WoM started spreading even before SoP ended.

This is their new format, it works for them because their content is king.

TLOU 2 was the main reason people were excited for SOP, it could have been the only thing shown and it'd have the same metrics.

One of the best selling new IPs of all time created by a world acclaimed developer that's getting a sequel soon now revealing the release date in a new trailer after a long period of no new media has high views? How unpredictable.

(I'm excited for the game, just I feel this is pretty much expected.)

It's number 1 in trending under gaming now. More surprising is that it has more than twice the number of views as Call of Duty Modern Warfare's story trailer, which debuted at the same time.

They could just release the trailer and it would get approx the same amount of views.
Exactly. Without TLOU, that State of play would have been complete dog shit. They need to work on the format and the presentations. Don't hype up an event when it's 90% indies that no one has ever heard of

This is the perfect trailer for people who decide to go on media blackout. Teased a lot, didn't spoil anything major.

You set yourself up for disappointment because we knew beforehand that tlou2 is going to be the biggest game there.
