I'm going to try under 50% for the next week or so and will report back. I've been at 100% since my first iPhone years back.

It might be different for other low brightness people, but I'm often changing the brightness depending on my surrounding lighting situation. The majority of the time I'm using my phone I'm inside where I can still see it at a low brightness. I never just set it and leave it.

Probably about 25% except when I'm outside in the day time, then I let auto brightness do it's thing, which usually puts it at around 75-100%. I use my iPad much more than a phone, and do the same thing with it.

Bright screens just kills my eyes indoors, like they literally hurt from being strained.

Lowest setting indoors, because my phone is quite old and the battery sucks now. Outside I bump it up to like 25%.

If I'm in a room without much sunlight it's at like 20%ish usually. Outside I'll crank it up as much as necessary.

If I'm trying to see all the details on my dragon porn I'm gonna crank that shit up though.

Automatic/lowest possible setting. Save that battery power but also need it low for most settings.

About 30% most of the day, no idea why/how people use 100, I sometimes bump it up when watching videos but that's about it.

I just manually adjust it depending on when I'm looking at it and if it needs it. It's like a swipe down and across. Adaptive brightness always seems to adjust it slightly too low.

I just keep it on auto with my iPhone XR and have never really had an issue. Will occasionally adjust brightness down lower in dark rooms.

I didn't realise people didn't use the automatic brightness settings. The only time when I manually change brightness is to lower it to the lowest setting when in a pitch dark room. Do people seriously use 100% brightness at night?

Do you also have your TVs brightness at 100 in a dark room? Hell I have automatic brightness on my TV's as well where it works well (Sony).

I can't imagine people are manually adjusting their brightness multiple times a day, auto brightness exists for a reason.

I have auto-brightness turned off, as I swear it was wearing down the battery faster. Probably because I must bump the screen on repeatedly in my pocket.

Anyway, outdoors I set it around 60-75% (or more if especially sunny, but never at 100% because it keeps throwing warnings at me). Indoors it's around 10-30%.
Outdoors at night it's at 0% and still way too bright.

Same here, Auto Brightness works fine on my iPhone.
I might reduce brightness manually when in bed or increase manually when there's some reflection situation happening.

It's so weird that macOS doesn't allow you to only activate auto-brightness when on battery power.
