if it had a punchline, if they were going that route they should have did something like showing a board room full of old out of touch white dudes saying "nailed it"

"Hey guys we have nothing to show you but since we're being cute about it it's ok."
It all felt a bit toothless overall. I appreciated bits and pieces but there was nothing that really sticks with you. Still cautiously optimistic. If this game is actually balanced to be a challenge, and make choices meaningful, I'll be all over it.
In the original no matter what choice I made with my build I could get past pretty much every check, was flooded with cash and items, combat was ridiculously easy... Loved the rest, hopefully they do those parts better this time.
Not even close, so lets not go there.

I had fun watching it. I'm sorry you didn't. 🤷‍♂️Kind of shocked how easily impressed some of you are with being shown nothing.
The writing wasn't up to snuff from what people associate Obsidian with. They can use a budget well, hell they used Gamebryo to make New Vegas- but that game's strength was the writing and quest quality. Having more bells and whistles won't translate into quality automatically unless they are up their quest design and writing. I think the Outer Worlds DLC showed a little more promise in that regard.Hopefully the Microsoft budget can allow them to better realize the game's potential. The first one was good, but a bit disappointing as well.
The hooks are there, but like you said, the 'corporations' involved in the first game IIRC only bought that one galaxy.
Which means there are room for more/others to pick up the slack, I suppose.
Yeah, the companions, on the whole, were a bit limited by how tied into they were into the world (aka the corporate ideologies), curious to see how they revise that with either new companions in 2, or if some of the ones from the first tag along again.
(Assuming it's even the same player character, or a different blank slate)
I did have some issues with the writing, to be honest Parvati is the only thing I remember from that game. But a lot of my gripes with the game had to do with the scope as well. It's a game that tried its best to be Fallout in space, but just didn't have the scope to pull that off. So I believe budget can help it as well. The writing wasn't up to snuff from what people associate Obsidian with. It was just very poorly balanced. If they hadn't messed that up it could have been a lot of fun.I never played the first one because the people who's opinion I trust indicated the game was a dumbed-down not very good RPG.
But hey, I am open to this being a lot better.
If the game is better less people will have issue ls with it? Nothing to do with budget though, really.I am hoping the bigger budget will be put to good use shutting up those people talking about how terrible the first one was and how Obsidian has clearly lost their magic.

At least it's not bloated as shit. It was nice to have a 30-40 hour experience in the RPG space again. It was just very poorly balanced. If they hadn't messed that up it could have been a lot of fun.
Couldn't make it past 10 hours with the balance issues that made gameplay and choice feel utterly pointless, so can't say I agree. At least it's not bloated as shit. It was nice to have a 30-40 hour experience in the RPG space again.

Strange how that works ..
I don't know about, I think out of all my problems with the game, Balance was probably the least lol.It was just very poorly balanced. If they hadn't messed that up it could have been a lot of fun.
Na. Majority of complaints were about legitimate issues the game had.Please. Half the complaints were from people bitching that it wasn't the Fallout killer they hyped themselves into believing it was going to be. When everyone, including Obsidian, told them not to expect that because it won't have the budget for that scope. The other half were crying it didn't have the amazing writing of Disco Elysium.
It was the most glaring issue imo. Made it feel pointless to play.I don't know about, I think out of all my problems with the game, Balance was probably the least lol.
I'm... not sure that it's a good idea to compare this trailer, which had nothing politically controversial, to when people are racist and it actually causes harm. This trailer doesn't do that.
