I thought about getting this on the Melee thread but I think it's cool enough to get its own thread.
It's no secret that the Melee community has been modding the game for years with the goal of making it more competitively viable. Things like the Universal Controller Fix, freezing stages like Pokémon Stadium, the addition of netplay and eventually rollback netcode with Slippi, but we haven't seen a serious attempt at adding new characters to shake up the game until now, with the addition of Wolf O'Donnell!
The people behind are known as Team Akaneia, they shared their announcement on Twitter and made a YouTube trailer for it
This is a quick clip of Wolf in action, he's obviously very similar to the other spacies (Fox and Falco), but signature moves from future games like his angled side B are present.
Pro player Lucky is currently streaming some Wolf gameplay if you wanna check it out.
The new mode is basically volleyball, which looks like a TON of fun with Melee's movement. You can juggle the ball technically four times but if you hit it a fifth time, it will automatically explode.
Look at this shit, lmao
More fighing games deserve the love the Melee community gives theirs.
