It shits from great heights all over the manga and the original anime run.
Aside from the animation getting worse as the seasons went on it totally butchered most every event it covered from the story.

This was almost my introduction to Berserk. I stopped after the first episode and read the entire manga within the next two weeks.

I will never understand why Berserk just can't get a proper adaptation. There's always something wrong with the ones we're getting.
The 1997 anime? Let's cut out a bunch of shit that's actually important to the story and focus on the characters. Good plan, right? Oh wait the series ends on a cliffhanger and leaves the fate of certain characters up for question wtf. "Please read the manga!" the anime.
The movies? Oh look here's this awesome 2D animation, beautiful stuff. But battles? They're too hard! So let's CG it and have them look like shit!

What the hell was that final GIF? I have no idea what any of this is and now I've lost interest.
When I saw them I laughed until it hurt. I haven't seen the show, so some of these other gifs are great, but nothing matches when I first saw those people inexplicably getting closer to the edge of the frame without either them or the "camera" moving.

Were the Hellsing Ultimate OVAs a failure? I ask because there's no reason why Berserk shouldn't have gotten the same treatment.
