I just cancelled PC game pass. Seeing as Ori and the Will of the Wisps was the only game I really liked/finished since the PC beta started I figured ít was time to unsub. It was fine idling at €4 a month to try various indies etc. for a bit, but not €12. I find that my taste doesn't align with PC GP a whole lot as I always find myself playing games not on game pass.

Edit: The Windows 10 store is also a piece of shit. The past couple of days all my game pass game tiles and the xbox app tile on the start menu have been greyed out with a little exclamation mark on them. WTF does that mean? Today they're fine again though. Impressive that MS can't keep this shit in working order. They should throw it in the trash where it belongs...

I find the current PC GP library is improving, particularly with Flight Sim 2020 and Wasteland 3 just added. I don't think it is currently worth the £12 a month, but at the price I purchased it was good deal. For me, the value is in the upcoming games. Age of Empires 4, Fable, Hellblade 2, Psychonauts 2 and Avowed more than cover what I paid (£120 for 3 years). The addition of Bethesda makes sence, since I don't think it is very strong in AAA releases at the moment.

Incredibly impressive how quickly they've built out their PC offering. We're not quite at console parity yet but it's come on leaps and bounds over the last few months.

By the way, how come pillars of Eternity 2 is not yet on gamepass? I was wondering that the other day. I backed the game so I don't care, but I found it peculiar that a now 1st party studio had Outer worlds on gamepass but not PoE2

I'm always impressed with the range and balance for things for everyone.

3rd party Day 1 releases have been strong recently too.

Just subbed for 3 years of Ultimate and I don't even have a console yet lol. Can't wait for the Series X

Unlocked my live account for the first time since 2007 and started playing on my PC. I'll dive fully into it when my X arrives in November.

I've always skewed towards the PlayStation side of things (I wouldn't call myself a diehard, but I've basically enjoyed the vast majority of their first party output), but I'm most excited about the Xbox Series X out of the gate this generation, primarily due to Game Pass (and fuelled by the acquisition of Bethesda, possibly my favourite third party publisher).

Whilst I'm financially comfortable, I'm also in my 30s, and as my personal priorities shift, my comfort level with spending 70 GBP per new release has fallen sharply, and having a more wallet friendly form of access to this medium is always welcome.

Why is DQ11 up there? That isn't out yet...is it? On Game Pass I mean.

We need a thread like this for Stadia and PSNow. Pretty good selection of titles.

I honestly don't think the list is as monstrously more impressive than PS Now as some like to make out. If you're massively into MS 1st party and despise everything Sony outputs then maybe that sways you. PS Now has a similar looking lineup if I'm honest.

Dunno why bother with game pass threads now. All you get are PC people moaning about the store or how they miss out on the odd game whilst getting loads of PC exclusive titles.

The best gaming service there is. Prepaid for about $5/month until mid 2022, hopefully they'll have a similar deal available when it's time to resub.

Quite a library of games. I'm only using xCloud because my PC is broken but i find the games on offer still quite varied despite the selection being smaller. Thinking of getting a Series S or X down the line.

I've found PC GamePass to be OK and so I subbed to Ultimate when I preordered a series X. With the announcement of the buyout of Zenimax though it's become a much better deal. I paid about NZ$150 for three years which is the cost of about 1-2 new games. Hopefully it'll show it's worth continuing when I have to pay regular pricing.

I own most of these games on other platforms thanks to bundles and free (or twitch which isn't really free, but comes with prime) giveaways which is the better deal for me. I am still not in the mindset to subscribe to my games instead of "owning" them.

What's stopping MS adding all their 1st party games published games from XB & 360?

As someone who have used PS Now, I thought there's more. This thread kind of deflated the hype for me. Not criticizing the quality of games here but more on some of these games I don't really care about and/or are already on another competing service with their own exclusive lineup of games.

Question about Game Pass: If for example I have Game Pass and I want to play PUBG, do I still need Xbox Live Gold to play the game online?

Game pass is interesting for sure but I dont feel like it's really hit its stride yet. Honestly I feel like PS Now is the better service for price for value with something like 700 games on the service. Microsoft absolutely has some potential next gen which is why I bought a XSS. But not much about the current Gamepass lineup actually compels me at the moment.

With the acquisition of Zenimax though Microsoft really seems poised to make some moves and shore up its first party lineup which is where it was undoubtedly the weakest last generation.

For me as someone who is a major fan of games and subscription services game pass got me right away where PS Now got better when it added downloads but still isn't anywhere near.

Day 1 releases have been increasing for game pass, its not just first day but amazing 3rd parties that I'm discovering with friends in playing. I think last month alone there were almost a dozen day 1 releases, & for less than thr price of the cheapest one I got to play them all for the month.

Changed my mind about upgrading my gfx card. Gonna get a Series X instead. Game Pass was the reason. Have already upgraded my PC Pass to Ultimate. The value is simply insane.

PS NOW doesn't come close when it comes to new indie titles launching on the service. Most indie titles on PS Now are pretty old, Gamepass has been getting multiple day 1 releases every month for a while now.

Off the top of my head

Game Pass Ultimate £10.99/$14.99
Comes with:
  • Xbox Cloud Streaming
  • Game Pass Console
  • Game Pass PC
  • Xbox Live Gold
Game Pass Console is £7.99/$9.99

That's not bad at all. Hype back and hopefully the turn around of 1st party game releases will be faster.

I've had gamepass ultimate for just 3 days but I'm so incredibly impressed already that I made my decision in regards to next gen thanks to it and will be getting a series X and probably not spend much money on standalone games, there's plenty i want to play on game pass for me.

Since XGP hit PC (in June 2019 I believe) , I've already downloaded to either give it a try or play:

A Plague's Tale (currently playing)
Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
CrossCode (next on my backlog)
Darksiders Genesis
Flight Simulator
Forza Horizon 4
Gris
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
SpiritFarer
The Touryst

It's not much, mainly because I've been focused on a few Switch and Steam games meanwhile, but hey, that's almost one "free" game a month. And considering I'd buy some of them on day one at full price (Ori, for instance), I saved pretty much the same as 2 full years of Game Pass already. Quite a deal if you ask me.

There's so many games on here I wanted to play but skipped due to time constraints. I hope they don't leave the service before I have a chance to play them all... 😅
