By Nintendo you mean Netherrealm / WB who are the ones making and delivering the trailer, right?

You know Nintendo doesn't make third party trailers, right?

You mean NetherRealm.

Though both them and Nintendo probably should've people double check the video before it gets approved.

The Sexy Brutale, a notoriously bad port early in Switch's life, uses Xbox/PC screenshots on the eShop (LT button prompt on the bottom right).

The Sexy Brutale for Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Official Site

The Sexy Brutale, a never-ending masked ball featuring intrigue, murder and the quite possibly occult. Relive the same mysterious and murderous masked ball as the story unfolds in real-time. You must find answers to every enigma and end the loop, to save…

The evil influence that Microsoft is having over Nintendo is starting to show. Only a day after knowing that Spencer wants Nintendo to launch their games on other platforms this happens.

Aside from the Steam Achievement giving the game away, the visuals look really good and it's running at 60fps - I'm assuming there is a big difference in visuals & performance vs. how it actually runs on Switch?

Deceptive marketing sucks, no matter who is doing it.

And you can stop defending Nintendo. There's so many games on the eShop using crisp, supersampled screenshots for marketing while the actual game is a blurry pixel soup on Switch. And Nintendo has done nothing to stop deceptive mareting. They are fully complicit.

I got fooled by this with Tunic. Looks amazing in the screenshots, in-game it looks like there's vaseline smeared over the screen. I was so disappointed.

Calm down. Nobody are defending Nintendo, only that they are not responsible for this trailer.

I'm calm, you seem to be agitated at your favorite corp receiving some well deserved flak.
Erm....I have all consoles, but I haven't touched the Xbox for years, the PS5 for 6 months and haven't touched the Switch for 3 months. I'm playing Diablo 4 and Cyberpunk on the PC on an RTX 4070. So, like I said calm down, take a walk outside and breathe. You sound so mad.

Also, wouldn't it be the publisher/developer's responsibility to upload screenshots to the shop?

And no, whilst I love my switch, I'm not a Nintendo shill before anyone says, I just think people's anger is misguided.

not by Nintendo but there probably should be guidelines somewhere about not publishing videos/screenshots from other versions in the eshop.

Maybe said guidelines are already in place but not heavily enforced and checked in such a way that "mistakes" like that happen.

Reminds of the fact that Nintendo does provide template as to how make game icons for the home screen on Switch but since those are just suggestions you still have some devs/pubs doing dog shit.

Nintendo does not provide images/video for store pages of third party games.

Nintendo allowing those images/video to go up and remain on the store page, means they're also complicit in engaging in and profiting from deceptive marketing tactics.

No-one needs to run defence for any corporation here, they're both culpable.

Trailer work like this is almost always outsourced to third parties. While it's certainly bad that at the very least no one thought to check this and make sure the gameplay shown was accurate to the platform, it is not necessarily an attempt to swindle consumers, rather just a few people who don't know any better thinking "it makes no difference what version I use to get the footage".

Who could have predicted that the Switch 2 would be getting Steam Achievements!

It's the same trailer as the generic Launch Trailer, just with Switch specific bumpers.

Not to say it's to be excused, but I have a hard time believing this is being done on purpose. It's just a cost/time saving measure. I don't think it's Doctor Evil rubbing his hands together saying "We'll make people think the Switch version looks like the PC version to deceive the general public! It's genius."

I remember this with the Art of Rally eShop page too. Showed screenshots from PC (or other consoles) when it really looked like this on Switch at launch

They fixed it eventually!

No Steam Achievement in this one. The Switch version might've been an earlier cut they forgot to skim through

Or possibly just a different cut, but both using the same capture. When I said it was the same trailer I was only really looking at the first 45 seconds. Perhaps the Switch Trailer was thrown together as an after thought.
