I learned something interesting the other day, know how the irish and itatian policemen became a trope? They came here with nothing and were treated like shit, alot of them ended up on the police force cracking black people's heads and earned their way into whiteness
Happens so often in history that the oppressed become the oppressors, we're a fucked up species.

You see it happen with Jewish people as well, a fair amount of Jewish people that vote Republican/have far-right beliefs and look the other way on the obvious antisemitism. (Disclaimer: am Jewish.)

Maybe he can further specify it for the people at the back. Europeans, rich and christian I think?
Y'know, just in case they still can't hear the goddamn bullhorn of racism in their face....

Also, who the fuck are the "poor and tired who can stand on their own two feet"? That's the rich and comfortable. Unless he means he literally doesn't want people who have any kind of disability coming to the US, which wouldn't be surprising, but either way it's just fucking gross.

USA in the 19th century is pretty damn racist againts Southern Europeans, Eastern Europeans and Irish people.

They just dont like non germanic people. Its even worst for non-white people. If you're black or asian you will be treated as second class citizens.

I wonder what openly racist thing Trump and Co. will say next week that his supports will pretend never happened.

"Cuccinelli", huh? Sounds Italian.

That's funny, because 100 years ago this guy would have been in a slum, not allowed access to the highest ranks of American society, for being the wrong kind of "European".

Damn, Cuccinelli just gave up on the dogwhistle real quick, didn't he. Then again I suppose blowing an air horn requires no stamina.

Also yeah, as many have noted, once upon a time Roman Catholic Italians weren't part of that precious "E U R O P E A N " class. And guess what? If push comes to shove, evangelical America ain't saving you.

I don’t feel like looking up the numbers, but quite a few people of European descent live south of the border...

This is an important moment. Any cloak is being cast off and you now have open, virulent, unabashed racism by senior officials. The racism isn't new at all but the brazen depravity is. It has been normalised at the highest levels and things have worsened that much. It's important because this process won't stop; everything will get worse unless it is actively stopped by the American people. What's worse, the window for stopping it without actual war and living through the destruction of your country is closing fast.

Are you comparing “European wave” discrimination to how blacks were/are treated in the USA?

This is the part that PoC that stan for this party choose to ignore right? Here it is laid out in the open...they don't want you if you aren't white.

Also as if the statement was indefensible and racist enough on its own, let's not ignore this gem
“They certainly are. Give me your tired and your poor who can stand on their own two feet and who will not become a public charge.”
Which is even more racist when combined with that idea

I was in NY for a few days until today, back in Dublin now. Yesterday, I was having a conversation with some Latino friends in Brooklyn about how angry it makes me that Irish people who are illegal in the US get granted status all the time while brown people are held in concentration camps at the border.

Fuck this mentality.

Because it was never actually about them being illegal. Keep in mind a lot of this shit is also happening to asylum seekers, which is a legal process. So legal latino asylum seekers= bad, but Illegal European Immigrants are just fine. Shit's fucked up

Yep, I'd be willing to bet that the illegal Eastern European population in the US is pretty significant. But I doubt any of them are targeted for deportation unless they're committing serious felonies.

Well I'm more about the fact theres "European hierachy" where Nordic people are the top and the rest are treated as "not white enough". Its pretty much the mainstream topic in the United States back then.

But this is really tame when compare to that crazy lynchings of african americans just because they are black.

Man this dude is digging a ditch fast. First it was about those who are self-sufficient, and now it's about the European?

I wonder, what color are Europeans on the average...

These racist nincompoops just can't help themselves... This reminds me of their American Cuban support down in Florida. What are those people thinking now?
