This is just more fodder that his idiot followers will eat up, especially now that they're squealing like frightened pigs over the protests. Nothing will come of it like any big dumb trump declaration

Wait so if you are designated a "terrorist" don't feds lock em up indefinitely at places like Guantanamo??

edit meaning they can start accusing whomever they deem an enemy "antifa" and just lock them up without a trial etc.

Seems like we're only one step away from "anyone who doesn't vote for me is a terrorist." Sadly, I have a feeling his base will lap this up.

"AntiFa" isn't an organisation. 45's ban isn't about stopping terrorism, if he did there's a whole load of white supremacist organisations with actual membership he could shut down. No, this is to ensure that any protest against fascism (himself) can be shut down.

As an aside, Hitler's first targets were political opponents. Socialists. Communists. Trade Unionists.

Edit: Watch him use any excuse he can to either - block election or refuse to step down if he loses.

Very intentional. Protesting a thing the state supports? Well we can claim you are part of a terrorist organization and throw you away without due process.

I think the genuinely frightening thing about this is how the US government has historically treated people suspected of being "terrorists" (with no real proof)... Are they gonna start sending any progressives they don't like to black sites or shit like that?

yeah this is worrisome, since any protest could just be slapped with an ANTIFA label no matter what it is.

"They declared the war on drugs like a war on terror
But what it really did was let the police terrorize whoever"

Just wow. Just keep on diggin'. This shit will spiral out of control soon as hell if this keeps up. This will give the powertrip-hungry police all the justification they need to label protestors as terrorists and justify even more brutality.

I find it weird as fuck as to why risk whole nation rioting and in the worst possible scenario even civil war, instead of just getting into the root of the problem and bring justice to the people that caused all this shit. I might be also misunderstanding something since I'm not American and haven't followed this stuff that close, but damn, things really are fucked up there.

I feel for you people, I really hope for the best. Stay strong and make your voices heard, whatever it takes.

I hope this blows up in his face.
Better if it did so literally.

Ah, I see that at least 394,000 Twitter users are just as fucking stupid as the President, if not more.

Now designate the Proud Boys as a terrorist organization. What's fair is fair:

'Double standard' is a charitable assessment. It's white supremacy in action. The FBI has had 100 years to do anything about the fucking KKK.
AOC has a keen awareness on how to challenge the brazen injustices in America's system in coded language without calling them out for the monstrous things they, in reality, are. Making charitable assessments are what allow her to remain a crucial advocate for human rights in the House.

I don't get it. Why would it be bad to be against far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power and forcible suppression of opposition?

I thought America was about freedom, which is kind of the opposite of fascism?

Wouldn't want to have funded, represented or helped organize for a local antifa group right now. A whole bunch of stuff that was legal in the past could now be used to lock people up, put them on lists, stop them travelling etc.

Wouldn't underestimate the potential implications of this

My friend is actually the CEO of Antifa. I'll have to let him know to lay low for a while. Really glad I turned down that CIO job

Because that's increasingly where the GOP is heading, and because Antifa is largely comprised of socialists/anarchists/communists so it makes a good boogeyman.

I'd say it's about time we started labelling the World War 2 allies as Antifa. Because that's literally what they were.

Look at those terrorists.

Would love to see the right's decades worth of trying to convince veterans they're on their side go up in flames
