What gets me is adding the 'and beaches' part.

This topic deserves incredible nuance past 'Women have the right to do what they want with their bodies' (which at the very least Twitch is rightfully sticking to, even if their wording about it is a bit awkward) but it's in the air if Twitch will meaningfully address this further.

I don't really expect it, so it'll be interesting to see what'll happen in this new memeland going forward.

Good. Let titties streamers get their money. I'll make my own channel when my beach body is ready.

While obviously some people will still have a problem with these streams for whatever reason, it's a good move.

What about those that stream while they're sleeping? where would that go?

There's a sleeping category, but some choose not to stream under any category while sleeping as well.

If you don't think they read far worse shit daily than do a hot tub stream, you're fooling yourself.

Giving this subject its own category is the move even people who weren't wild about it actually wanted.

Now to see how it gets abused to high heaven...

A good long-term solution for Twitch IMO would be to branch this off under a different site and brand (that might still carry the Twitch name in some respect, but clearly being a separate thing - separate visual identity, 18+ age limit, rules that don't have to be skirted around etc.). Gambling, hot tubs, basically any subject that could be seen as controversial for a 13+ site would be moved there. That way, the content creators can make money, Twitch can make money, the advertising can be better directed, and the brand is better protected against possible controversies. And the concerns about things affecting ad revenue for other categories of streamers would be addressed.

But there are already a bunch of streaming services that allow adult content like that without fear of an accidental "whoops this went too far." Also, I think a lot of these streamers don't want to go topless and stay suggestive and Twitch just doesn't treat them equally.

There's clearly an audience for content that is suggestive but not nude or pornographic, since Amouranth makes $35-40k/month of Twitch ad revenue - on top of her 20k subs, which, if my Twitch math isn't off, translates to a minimum of $100k/month.

At this point just make a twitch after dark and allow nudity but no sex acts. It would bring in a SHITTON of money and those people can make a killing without it being turned into a porn site. The people could do suggestive poses and talk while topless or whatever and take in donations, twitch gets a cut and everyone wins.

It goes without saying it would have to be a separate site and not show up on twitch's front page. Would be a boon for sex workers so they don't have to keep skirting the rules. Just imo.

So we getting some sweet beach streams soon? Like every week a new beach?

Yeah but those Are straight up porn sites. This wouldn't be that.

Seems like a temporary solution. People will chase more money and envelopes will be pushed. At least they admit that it was all about the advertisers, but I doubt trying to sequester the advertiser unfriendly streams to a single category is going to work long term.

Are they going to unban all the streamers that have been banned in the past for showing sexually suggestive content? The hot tub meta wouldn't be as big of a deal if they were actually consistent with the enforcement of ToS. Free Velvet_7!!!

This seems not a bad way to handle it, and I would think is what the "They need to clean up Twitch from all these women doing these hot tub streams!" want: Put it in a category they can just ignore.

Twitch hasn't been exclusively a gaming streaming site for a long time. The fucking political debates were streamed on Washington Post's Twitch Channel. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has a Twitch channel that sometimes she uses for video games, other times for political things.

That blog post makes a good point:

Second, while we have guidelines about sexually suggestive content, being found to be sexy by others is not against our rules, and Twitch will not take enforcement action against women, or anyone on our service, for their perceived attractiveness.

If women on these streams wear bikinis and chill in a hot tub, I don't see a problem with that. If they started sucking on a dildo or similar object or something, then I bet Twitch would probably shut that down. It's not "Twitch turning into OnlyFans/PornHub/whatever".

By the way, there's a list of banned games from Twitch, and I am not familiar with all of them, but the ones I have heard of I totally get why they're banned. You know what series is NOT banned? The Dead or Alive Xtreme series, aka the ones with the girls in bikinis playing volleyball or racing on jetskis or whatever. They even have it listed as a game you can stream on Twitch.

This is probably an irrelevant opinion, but I think they'd just be better off by doing an announcement releasing parental controls + an adults section on the website and clarifying the ToS after having banned people who made +18 streams. Instead of a "Hot tub, pool and beach" category.

i think people are underestimating how much of twitch's viewers are children. it is an odd situation all around
Hot tub streams are a drop in the ocean of what kids shouldn't be exposed to on there. If people underestimate it, it's because no one has cared to bring it up as a problem until now.
