Ouch. Why's Darkest Dungeon so expensive on Switch? I'd consider it if it were the same sale price I tend to see elsewhere.

So close to sub $20 for gear club. I didn't like what I played of it on mobile, so I told myself I'd buy when it was cheap just to have a more traditional racer. There haven't been too many sales for it on the shop though.

Seems like Yooka Laylee might not dip under $30 for a while. I thought I'd save a buck waiting and my backlog was big during the first sale, but I'm in this time.

Yesterday Origins is tempting me at $14.99... But my backlog... If I manage to finish at least 2 more games before that price goes up again (which is within the realm of possibility), I'll bite.

PSA: Those discounts for Syberia 1 & 2 are really fucking scummy. Apart from the price being WAY too high in the first place, they are now "discounted" to 20$ each, 40$ together. Well, if you check another section of the store you'll notice that a bundle of both games called "Syberia 1+2" will be released in just 6 days for 35$.

I really love those games but wow, that publisher is just trying their best to rip people off.

How is Old Man's Journey? Tempted to get it.

It's simple, but I found it quite lovely. It has environmental puzzles and light platforming, and I had no trouble whatsoever with the touch controls. The most memorable thing about it are the visuals; they are often stunning. The story is nice, and it's a short game.

How is forma.8? Worth it at that price?
I enjoyed the game at full price, so I'd say yes, but you should try the demo first (even just a little) to see if the floating controls (which are imprecise on purpose) do not turn you off. I liked the mix of a relaxing atmosphere and some more tense moments here and there.

Also know that in order to get the "true ending" you need to 100% the game. Getting very close to 100% is achievable without some super effort, but I couldn't be bothered to find what the missing 1% was. That said, I think most people don't even realize they haven't reached this ending, and think what they reached was the ending, It's really not critical though to the enjoyment of the game, it's all about the journey...

Thanks! I'll try the demo then.

No. The vanilla game goes on sale for $7.49
Yeah, now that it's been out on those platforms for 2 years.

The Switch version came out this year and obviosly they aren't going to put on equal discount with the other versions because ports cost money and the Switch audience hasn't been exhausted at the current pricepoint.

If you want the game on the go for cheap just buy it on mobile where it's only five freakin dollars. That's not a sale price, it's the whole game uncompromised for $5. It controls really well with a touch screen, much better than with a controller.

I didn't realize it was on mobile. Actually that sounds even better.

Edit: It's for tablets.

Isn't it exactly the same price as it is on PC? Ancestral Edition includes all the DLC.

They actually pulled the previous Ancestral Edition from the eShop to add a new version with the new DLC to it, so anyone who bought it before now has to pay for the Colors of Madness (despite knowing it was coming for months).

Bit eeehhhh on that move.

Blame Nintendo as it's the way they've set up software bundles. Would you rather the Ancestral version never include the new DLC?

They could have flagged whoever bought the previous one and sent them the DLC somehow. Though admittedly, not sure the system would've been able to do that either.

I posted in the October thread about this, but feel it is still relevant.

I cannot recommend Unexplored on Switch. I bought it to play on-the-go, but performance is unacceptable. Low framerates abound and constant frame drops. Combat is heavily impacted due to the fact that frames drop and slow down increases in moments of action.

This game is awesome on PC, so I was really devastated and disappointed last night when I booted it up. Not to mention the world generates in chunks periodically, leading to further stops and stutters, rather than loading all at once or between levels like on PC.

Save your $10 for something else. They recently patched this in September, but hopefully they continue to improve and optimize as this would be such a great dungeon crawler to play on-the-go or in bed.

I thought I read today that previous owners will get access to the latest DLC, including physical owners.

Regardless, I am trying to determine if I go all in now, buy the Ancestral Edition, turn off the DLCs not the new characters and play the original campaign first and then add the dlcs, or just buy the vanilla game and get the dlcs later if I am feeling it.

I only have the base game so I'm going to pick up the Ancestral Edition on Switch for my triple dip. I've heard a lot of people don't like how the first DLC changes the game and some say it makes you too OP. I dunno.

I guess i'm saying you could just get the base game and cherry pick the DLC, all the individual DLC is also on sale.

Yeah I think that is my plan. I also don't want to fully invest and then have the game lose my interest.

I've watched enough and read enough to believe I will like it. Nice thing is it is on sale till the 25th so I may be able to sit on the decision a bit.

I'd say buying the Ancestral Version is still the best bet. The only DLC you might wanna disable the first time around is The Crimson Court, as everything else is worthwhile for a 1st run and The Color of Madness is mostly its own thing.

So you'd say that for the extra tenner for the DLCs will add enough to make the base game better?

I'd say so. The extra characters/bosses and stuff that comes with them is pretty good, QoL features like town events and buildings give you a bit more to work around/towards. Color of Madness is basically a standalone wave mode that gives you access to special trinkets, but adds a wandering boss to the main game that gives you the currency to buy them as well.

So i bought it and played about 45 minutes. So good. I know I am only on the easy first run but still. Very stoked to keep going

Gamers are enjoying the Steam version but sigh, looks like this port doesn't pan out. Many thanks for your impressions!

Gamers are enjoying the Steam version but sigh, looks like this port doesn't pan out. Many thanks for your impressions!
I've actually been playing more and after getting used to it being more sluggish I'm starting to enjoy and actually play it. It is definitely a different feel though than the Steam version.
