Wait, why am I just now learning Digimon designs were inspired by 90s American comics?

Digimon is cool. I loved the series up to and including Frontier.

I know it's part of the charm for some people, but as a non-American, I partly blame the series' lack of huge western success on the cheesy English dub and awful-yet-catchy English theme song.

Don't get me wrong, the dub was actually pretty solid. But it made the series and characters tonally off compared to the original, IMO.
