Ironically, I think Tokyo might be the city where I have had people walk directly into me the most.

Japan is funny because they drive on the left, but the side you stand in escalators and suchlike varies regionally from left to right. Depending where you are, you get funny instances of peoples wires crossing one way or the other.

Seriously? I live here and I think the opposite unless you're in Shinjuku station all the time. People tend to notice others a lot further out.
Obviously, no stats, just personal experience. So objectively, everywhere is probably about the same.

But compared to other big Asian cities I've lived in, that's been my experience.

Wait why would they hit each other if they're both wearing one. Isn't the prerogative to blast to the right of where you're facing - so the person coming headon would seemingly blast to the left and thus out of the way?
