like did people only find out how to kiss after the 1980s? I mean it literally looks like they're trying to choke each other with their mouths.

Sorry to break it to you OP but the 80 to now have a ridiculous number of examples of bad kissing in movies.

I think a lot of times it's to cover the mouths from shot so they don't actually kiss, unless its method or either actor has no objections.

Somewhere
French kissing was considered too obscene for media back then. So basically the actors just touched mouths like they do in old Disney films.

Just a good a thread as any to ask.. so I just finished watching the Outer Range (it was okay), and late in the season these two characters become involved; so, spoilers if you're planning on watching it. Anyway, it's.. bizarre. Their kissing seems to mainly involve jabbing tongues at each other and slobbering across chins. And I don't know if it's meant to be sensual, or comedic, or supposed to be communicating something else entirely to the audience (kissposition)? I am genuinely confused. It happens multiple times, so we're supposed to take.. something from it? I think?

kissing is a show of dominance, you need to suck all the air out of the other's lungs before they do it to yours. after the 80s the liberal cowards in hollywood started to hide away from showing this process in all its beautiful and natural truth

Honestly I think it was the Hollywood way of getting around the censors back then. They couldn't show tounge and sensual kissing was probably too risqué as well so more of an aggressive kiss was what was left to work with.

As bad as some of these are, nothing is bad enough to undo my memories of the Reylo kiss or more recently the Chainsaw Man kiss.
