This is an updated release of Ougon Musou Kyoku: Cross, which was in itself an expansion of Ougon Musou Kyoku. Cross adds Rosa, George, Bernkastel, Lambdadelta, and Black Battler, along with a full story mode and tons of amazing music from the series.

Not sure I'm gonna pick it up (I imported both OMKs and played them way back when and don't have time to mess around in a fighter right now), but it's a lot of fun if you're a fan.

How good is the story? Melty Blood is pretty much the only fighting game I ever liked because it had a long storyline :)

Entirely dependent on your familiarity with the VN. It assumes you've played both the question and answer arcs of Umineko. If you don't know who the characters are, you'll be pretty much completely lost.

If you like the VN, it's fantastic. Equal parts drama and comedy.

And Black Battler... wow. Talk about pushing the envelope.

Did I miss something? I thought this came out so long ago. Mind you if this is more like the "official release with English Subs" then I can understand. Either way, it was a nice little fighting game when it came out and definitely will be fun to revisit.

This game is from like 2006. This is the first official release. The fan translation came out around three years ago, but no one cared because we didn't do Cross, lol.

Also considering the devs had NO FIGHTING GAME EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER, I think they did an amazing job.

More like 2010/2011- I'd be a little surprised if the game somehow predated Umineko proper, hah.
