I moved to work at another country this year. I'm in academia so I'm very used to working in international groups, but I had really no idea of all the shit you have to go through to do it. You have to relearn how to pay taxes, how to go to a doctor, how to rent a flat etc. That's a lot of extra hassle and red tape on top of the usual pressures of starting at a new, more demanding job. On top of that, you don't know anyone to hang out with and it's harder to make new friends as you grow older, so you have to rebuild your social life as well. I have a whole new level of respect for anyone who moves to another country.
I had chicken tenders for the first time when I visited New Orleans a while back, and loved it. We don't have that at all in my country. Gumbo and po'boys were great, too, but chicken tenders are kind of everywhere also in my new country, and trying those for the first time really stuck with me.
