I should say there are a lot of nasty people who share revenge or child porn. I'm not talking about these assholes. Nor am I talking about people who post their own homemade consensual stuff. I get that impulse. I'm talking about people who find a picture of a woman's big butt then they go and post that pic elsewhere on the internet. An internet forum or a chan or /r/booty. Why do they do that? And, running the numbers, there must be thousands of people spending their free time posting free pornography. Why? Is it porn altruism or do they get something from this exchange. What is that impulse?

For the same reason one would share anything else they like. What you like says something about you, and when you share what you like you're sharing a bit about yourself.

The same reason people share anything else I imagine. Because they like it and think maybe someone else will too.

People like having their opinions validated. You see porn that you find to be amazing and you want to see if other people also find it amazing lol

This isn't something I have done since I was a teenager and it was new and exciting. There shouldn't be a taboo about normal, not dangerous porn though.

If people still share porn it's just that is something they enjoyed and want to share with their friends, like sharing a video from Instagram, YouTube or Facebook (again talking about normal porn that is legal and shit).

Why ... woudn't you share?

If no one shares then how would anything get around?

Also, MANY women take nude selfies for the propose of it being shared.

One time in college, the class was a complete mess - it was late, everybody was talking loudly, and the teacher had basically no authority -, and this one dude in the back row started telling everyone around him about this great porn video he'd seen. Literally shouted the name of the vid out loud, with no consequences lol. Teacher didn't even notice I think, plus she wasn't a native speaker anyway. Good times.

I obviously memorized the title and watched the video later that day. Was alright, if not mindblowing.

Why did I not get the memo on this?

Seriously though, I have never shared pr0n vids/pics with folks I personally know. That's awkward AF.

The same impulse as admiring someone's artwork and wishing to share it with others. (preferably done with permission/publicly available)

What kind of question is this?

Especially when you're talking about specific places designated for sharing that material. People are there to find things in that interest and want to share with others what they think is neat. Objectification exists, and is pretty healthy plenty of situations when done legally.

Why aren't you all deeply ashamed of your sexuality like I am, what's wrong with you.

Because they consider it an act of solidarity, a communal experience, and also because some people simply value that kind of stuff and that process -- same way you'd share a cool combo video or movie scene for the emotion it brought you, do guys (and ladies) relay to others what gave 'em a tickle. *eats prudent pizza*
