It would be funny if that for so much people lusting over her in the end she doesn't make so many appearances which then again it would be bad considering she is the main antagonist but im tired of everyone going "big woman steep on me"

TOR has by far some of the worst writing for romances, at least when it comes to male PC and female NPC, I've seen in games. For the unaware, the woman in the picture is setup for her dark side route. She pretty much worships the ground you walk in this route, in addition to being your apprentice. That same class can flirt with their literal slave woman, which is optional to free and I don't know if that's a requirement to romance her.

Some other standouts, to the best of my memory, include a defrosting ice queen that pretty much follows the trope step by step, turns out all along all she needed was marriage to make her happy. Another one can best be described as the stereotypical irrational woman. Who while being in a relationship with, will blame you for anything the Sith Empire does. They're all awful.

Been playing through Nioh and have an urge to dive into other Soulslike games. Code Vein is still deep on sale on Humble so maybe I'll pick that up? I know there's a lot of anime bullshit in it, so maybe there's Nexus mods that add less revealing outfits and...oh it's all nude mods and jiggle physics and body sliders. Maybe another game then.

Yea the re8 thing is just out of hand now and really obnoxious. The "we're sexual by nature" thing somehow being allowed to be used as an excuse feels like a steep slope to threads like these just happening for any character people think are hot now.

Yeah the design is fine but people are going insane, like I meet people on Youtube and Discord that are going crazy for her in a horny way!

The thing about fetishizing something online or in social gatherings, and I am guilty of doing this in the past, is that it's often not done for the sake of actually fetishizing. It's done as a joke and people want to feel included in on the joke/meme. I can guarantee that a sizable portion of the people obsessing over a tall vampire lady in Resident Evil wouldn't be interested in a very tall woman if they came across one in real life. Tall women aren't their fetish or preference, but they will pretend it is online. I've been people here post about male asses in gaming, movies, etc. but the majority of those people probably aren't women or gay men. It's mostly straight dudes just trying to be funny. Regardless, it's still a problem.

There are definitely people who are really into the Resident Evil lady. But based on my personal social circle, the friends who are into her have been part of the gothic sub-culture for most of their lives. They love her design and her being tall is just one aspect they like.

Most of the comments in the RE8 are harmless but then you got the people saying "sit on my face" or "mommy milkers". That's just gross.

And no that's not being prudish. No one wants to hear your fetish. If people are against that, then I guess all fetishes are allowed. Hope people are fine with furry, inflation, and vore fetish posts.

I don't know why people say things like this and I wish they wouldn't. It's like people who keep yelling about thighs with Atelier Ryza. Like maybe it's just some dumb meme but could they just not?

I admit it was funny at the start but now I just can't stand it. Everywhere you go whether on reddit, twitter or youtube you have people talking about her that way.

Heck not only her but her daughters. They did a good job designing the characters but I am not going to lie it is starting to make the mere mention of RE8 toxic as hell.

Hopefully this dies down in a few weeks.

I feel like maybe capcom and their tall lady are getting a pass in this for not purposely sexualizing her, and i'm not sure they deserve it. She seems pretty heavily inspired by the hachishaku-sama creepy pasta that was fairly popular like a decade ago, and that much like sadako from the ring before her, she generated a lot of fan media and eventually sexualized fan media which was noticed by corporations which used the fact that she was an urban legend with no direct copyright owner to make their own professional, for-profit media including pornographic depictions, both live action/cosplay based and episodic animations.

Which is to say, while I couldn't say how much capcom was banking on the known draw of just the creepy pasty origin of the character rather than the media that followed it, i would be shocked if the reaction they're getting from fans that have probably already fetishized this character in pornographic media for 5+ years isn't at least partially what they hoped for by making such a direct reference. Like if nintendo came out with a game where you can play as bowser and pick up a peach crown power up, that wouldn't be an accident, they'd be purposely banking on the horny bowsette fans.

Hey everyone, long time watcher, first time poster (Ignore my last post on the previous page. I just wanted a bookmark to remember what Ocean's Heart was lol). Can't say I have much to contribute, but this thread and the one before this one has opened my eyes to a lot of things that I usually just...didn't realize. Keep doing what all of you are doing!

Since the discussion has been on Capcom, I wanted to gank a pic I saw from the "Capcom Needs to include more women" thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Revelations took place out in the ocean right? So that might excuse the pseudo-scuba-gear look but.....She missing a leg for what reason? :|

Heels also perfect for swimming, I guess.

Jessica is maybe one of the goofiest looking character designs I've ever seen in my life. At least in a game that ostensibly aims for a realistic aesthetic.

Jill wears a wetsuit in Revelations, and it's got V bikini outlines on it, for some reason.

667335ee3ad8512b5fe45d22a1135e41.jpg

Also Revelations was when they got rid of Julia Voth's likeness, but a lot of the fans complaining about RE3make didn't get that memo.

I believe even the designer of Jessica in REV 1 hates the design and feels really embarrassed by it when he looks back. I wish they realized before the game shipped.

Capcom's had some really weird... back and forth with regards to character design. It's very hard to figure their designs in the newer and much older Resident Evil games, and the stuff that's in-between and the current Street Fighter designs.

The RE team at Dev 1 (not Itsuno's DMC team at the same division) seems to be the only ones with the new mindset detailed in the leaked documents so far, as SF/MH are made at Dev 2. Though going by said documents, the other Capcom devs should follow suit eventually.

I'm convinced the starting idea for RE: Revelations was Jill's ass in 3D and then built everything else from that. I liked Revelations well enough but Capcom knew that they were doing when they picked Jill to be the protagonist and when designing her outfit.

Yeah, Rev 1 was a period when it looked like Capcom was trying to take RE in a more anime direction.

Code Veronica was honestly already a little bit 90's anime, 4 was sort of a temporary detour (it feels more like a take on American 80's Schwartzeneggerism), then 5, Rev 1, and 6 are where Capcom looked like they were dipping their toes into the otaku market. I think at that time Capcom had even announced that starting with Rev 1 they'd write the dialogue for RE games in Japanese first then translated it into English -- I don't even think RE games before then had Japanese voice acting. I think Rev 2 was the tail end of that direction (Moira's English dialogue is a result of them trying to translate a particular dialect of Japanese or something).

Obviously RE7 went in the complete opposite direction.

Yet if you point it out you're a "prude" or "don't understand that humans are sexual by nature."

I've never really understood how those people don't get that there are times and places for being horny. There's nothing inherently wrong in things like finding characters hot or doing thirsty fanart and such, but there are quite literally countless communities and webpages dedicated for that stuff where other people frequenting them aren't bothered or weirded out by it. Context of horny discussions matter, people certainly are going to be horny until end of humanity but it's just tacky as hell to to bring that stuff into casual discussions both in social settings and online.

Yeah I kinda doubt it. I've just come to accept that backwardness is part of Japanese video games and if it weren't for From Software they'd just be thrown out entirely.

She was telling him "how frustrating it was in this industry at the time to be a female and to only have roles come up so rarely that were fully fledged people," she explained. "It was hard for him to understand because, for him, it had always just been a given that that's the type of roles that he would get to play. I was always the wife, or the sidekick, or the chick that you're rescuing, or something like that."

"It's not about badass women, it's about badass characters, and it can be a woman," Bailey explained, though she said that she had seen some improvement in the industry. "I have seen a lot more roles coming up that are fully realized, they're completely three-dimensional characters as opposed to just 'sexy chick swinging a sword.'"

"To see the progression just in this last decade of the amount of roles offered to females has been pretty phenomenal," she added. "Abby and Ellie are such great characters because they can just be human."

I have a weird question: How well do you think Old Spice makes the distinction "what women want" and "what men want to be" with the 2 characters ?

cEWcmZO.jpg

Can old spice be .... educational ?

Serious question. For those strongly opposed to this sort of imagery etc in video games, is the only suitable solution that there are no overly sexualised female characters in video games ever again? Or is it more to do with how prevalent it is?

Perhaps perusing the OP would be advisable before dropping by to "just ask questions"?

The suitable solution is to stop treating oversexualization as the defacto standard because you think young boys and men are so stupid that they won't buy a game with female characters in it unless they're dressed up as on call sexworkers.

I'd love for games to actually talk about sex and it's surrounding topics more often, but let's get it straight, the gaming industry is SCARED TO DEATH when it comes to the concept of sex, so they try to conflate sex with titillation because most capital G Gamers have been conditioned to be unable to tell the difference.

I don't mind if a woman is sexy in a game, I just want them to be respected and fully realized characters. So far for me my favorite fighting game women are Skarlet from MK11 and King from the older KOF games.

Got back into Halo, played through the OG game's and watched Legends. For an anime, I really liked alot of the designs.
