I played the intro to the Stellar Blade demo earlier, as my fiancée has downloaded it. Spent that whole fifteen minutes wishing I was playing as Tachy instead who seemed a confident and competent character even if she was still wrapped in latex. But...well, yeah.
Don't worry in 5 minutes she's impaled and has her arm ripped off as Eve lies completely useless on the ground. The second time a woman is impaled by an enemy in the opening 10 minutes. Wouldn't be worth noting much but honestly, with all the other sexist stuff it just comes off as 'whats sexualisation without a little trauma?'. Isn't me saying women can't get messed up in things either, people who know me know I like horror and female leads in horror. It's just when it's amidst everything else it's just an additional ick. Dolls getting pulled apart because.

The follow-up butt post especially looks... so fucking strange, dude. Not only that but the bodysuit just kind of looks like some sort of strange alien growth?
Again, I do just kinda wish we could just genuinely reach out to a lot of these people, just actually have an honest to God conversation about this sort of thing. But we all know that's hard for a laundry list of reasons, sadly.
God is something these people need in general!=O Or just help.

But yeah I don't think they can be saved at this point. It seems like they have to choose on what to do on that and they chose horny instead.

RIP somewhat competent sounding character.

Impalement is the sexiest form of female punishment tho. It can make the menfolk dream of ~other types impalements.

Yeah this feels more Tomb Raider 2013...just trauma and extreme death scenes clearly with a certain undertone.

I'm gonna just repost this here for posterity, but I've seen the "Eve's based on an IRL person!!" argument too much for my liking.

Cuz I'm not sure what they kept: Her face was crafted by the dev team and her body was clearly redesigned for way more curves.
It's makes me sad when, even outside this context, the models aren't good enough lol :/

Thank you. Nerds seem to think "ahem... she's based on a real woman actually" is their trump card on this. When uh, only her body was and it seems like all they kept was her ribs, waist and arms. So you have a model within the beauty standards of South Korea who still wasn't 'sexy' enough for the CEO and whatever fantasy of his this game is based around.

"Eve's Based on an IRL person!" goes hand and hand with "actually the director has been happily married for 10 years" as most common things I'm seeing over and over again with this game right now. Yes because saying that a person has never seen a real woman means literally and you sure owned them.

I don't even click these tweets so wish they would stop being served to me. I must have looked too long at some game related thing and now that's all I get.

Yep, the model being scanned is just a marketing stunt in the end (and possibly an excuse to have a lady in bikini in the studio). The game model doesn't seem to have any curve in common.

This is utterly ridiculous.

Maybe the gameplay is cool, yeah, sure. But there's no way i can accept such a ridiculous looking main character. And i'm talking as a guy who like sexy ladies (when it makes sense) : this is beyond obnoxious and pandering to the wrong crowd.

The scan would have formed a base that they worked off of. They still save time and get higher quality results by not making a model from scratch. More realistic skin textures is another benefit. Scanning is increasingly the norm. Platinum used scanned models for Bayo 3 as well, even though the characters in that have highly exaggerated anatomy. Scanning a professional model in a professional is still expensive, so they wouldn't have done it needlessly.

It would've been way more interesting if they went for a realistic look for the character, even with a sexualized character design. Most hyperreal games we see with scanned models star mostly white people or men, so it would've been cool to have a Korean game starring a woman in a realistic style.

Didn't I make this exact same observation way back when I posted the video of them scanning her? I feel like I did. It's honestly hard to keep track of with this game. I remember thinking that would be used as an argument against any complaints and lo and behold!

I just don't understand what was the point of using a real person as a model reference if they had no intention of basing anything beyond maybe a couple of body animations from the model directly.

I'm not one to usually speculate in this manner, but given the studio in question... having an almost naked woman around to ogle? Outside of that my best guess is maybe it makes it easier to rig the skeleton by having a base capture? This isn't my field so I have no actual idea, just a guess.

You're probably not far off from the mark in speculation. It feels like if all they needed was someone to motion capture, they could have just picked anyone off of the street honestly. I feel bad for the model doing all of that work in her underwear and not even having the character based off of her. There was nothing wrong with the model at all. :/

The opening kind of ruins that since she does the infamous comic book and ass shot, spines be damned in the first 2 minutes. Why even use a skeleton? Not to mention they clearly didn't use the model to do the really hard to animate parts like face emotes. God forbid the character shows an emotion that may cause wrinkles.

Here I was riding a high of orc girl in Dungeon Meshi too.

You did because I specifically remember asking you if the model would break if costumes took away her heels, since she was scanned in wearing them.

Just happened upon some of this Stellar Blade footage (haven't really paid attention to the game) and holy shit. I fucking despise when these games are designed this way. There are some extremely deliberate design choices as shown in the small snippets in this thread too. Every animation feels like they have been utilized just so there will be some jiggle or erotic poses or whatever the fuck. In fact I feel like these boobs and ass are just flopping around just being in a windy weather for some fucking reason.

Let me also throw a prediction that a big part of this game will be in rainy weather or somehow getting the sex doll wet at every possible occasion. Also it just feels like that main character is lacking any visible emotion, which of course is on par to make her feel more like sex doll. Why even bother doing any facial capture either way when you use every trick to direct the eyes in more important locations. Mind you I really haven't seen a lot of footage (and I honestly don't even wanna search for more) so I might just be wrong here, just my first impression.

So disgusted by this, especially so when I just read about the background of developers.

All of this jiggle physics -trend makes my skin crawl either way. In every single occasion I notice it I feel icky, like I'm being manipulated to look something that feels very forced and usually it's so unnatural either way. Like for in Genshin Impact I feel like when you're just walking and stopping, everything else stops into standstill but the boobs keep on moving, I hate it. But I also guess that's the selling point and why they are making so fucking much money with their characters too. Somehow it also just happens that pretty much everyone has big boobs, what a coincidence.

I hate everything about how women are being depicted in the games nowadays and it's hard to avoid it. Skimpy outfits here and there, jiggles for days. Well, it has been around for ages but with evolving tech behind the games now it just is being shown in even more detail than before. Fuck off with that shit already.

I mean an animation skeleton, not a literal one. It doesn't translate to a real-world bone structure as it's just a framework that everything else hangs off of that can be manipulated any way they want for movement. They'd have that regardless because that's just how computer animation works, but my guess is that by scanning a model they have a base from which to work off of that they can then tweak. That way they'd have consistent parameters to use in terms of height/overall width and limb proportions would look somewhat normal since they're taken from a real person.

How else are players supposed to identify her as wankable fem material? Bet you her ass is still visibly gelatinous once she turns too lmao

I must put on my armour everywhere but my breasts and butt. If I shake just right, I will distract all my enemies.

Setting aside the needlessly oversexualized garbage, who the fuck opens a chest like that? Nothing in that animation makes any sense at all lol
Probably an attempt at making her cutesy and in need of protection... Instead, she just looks like a bumbling idiot.
You are right that the chest-opening animation makes no sense, but you're being too charitable with the cutesy part. That animation is extremely sexualized and is there for the players to ogle her. She basically sticks out her ass the way a porn star would before... you know. Even moans suggestively too.

Absolutely no human being would lean forward and stick out their arse like that to open a chest. It's so ridiculous and absurd, but they 100% know what they are doing.

Apparently someone posted the idle climbing animation from Stellar Blade and, well...

Jesus christ the cringy clips won't stop huh?

"I have issues with the character design, especially the face being emotionless"

"But wasn't it based on a real life person?"

Trying to imply that this is a knock against a Korean super model ain't slick.
Yeah these people can fuck off. The character looks nothing like the model, neither the body shape, head shape, or face!
So you have a model within the beauty standards of South Korea who still wasn't 'sexy' enough for the CEO and whatever fantasy of his this game is based around.
Pretty dire innit

Huh? I don't recall that at all about the game, and it has multiple strong and interesting female characters throughout who aren't sexualised. The only person who gets naked is Jin.

Why would those awful people latch onto that game?
Chuds are not very logical, but the reason was that it came out roughly at the same time as TLoU2, and chuds chose to attack that game because it has trans people and a muscular woman who kills a popular male character in it, and so they also latched on to GoT because... it didn't have that specifically, I guess? Like I said, they're dumbfucks and illogical as hell. lol

Aye, that's what the "But, well, yeah" was a veiled reference to. 😅

My fiancée has just finished playing that introductory sequence and can't be bothered with the rest either after 10 minutes in the next area, saying even beyond the Breasting Boobily it just feels like generic Korean MMO 'glossiness' applied over a cover-band version of Nier Automata.

Just looked at the chest opening animation and the idle ladder animation, and watching the general reaction to this obvious objectification on display gives me an aneurysm.

Reminds me of when Kojipro scanned Stephanie Joosten for Quiet and the end result was literally that the only thing the digidouble and actress had in common was the face.

Which reminds me, the people super into this are engaging in some hardcore asian fetishism on top of all the misogyny. Because yea, the end result of them scanning people is a cast of characters ass deep in the uncanny valley/doll faces that can barely emote. Like ffs faces have muscles, which cause wrinkles, they deform. And even when stylized you gotta put some life into the eyes and expressions. Stellar Blade reminds me of something like Alan Wake 1 where clearly the cast are based on real people and the characters are driven by motion capture but everyone looks dead inside.

For sure. I was seeing this argument and rolling my eyes hard on the bad faith of it.

I was seeing a bunch of posts around it saying "beautiful women are real". But then we have exactly the last piece you brought up, FRICKING MODELS are not enough.
