Is the publisher needed to bring the game to other platforms, or to finish the game, period? Hopefully it's the former.
Yeah, if after 2 years of a successful, very visible KS campaign they still have no publisher then there's simply no interest from anyone for taking the project.

The reasons we can only conjeture, but clearly there's something in the pitch that even with the backing of a very successful KS campaign pubs are shy to actually commit to the project.
Was that their initial pitch? To get development kickstarted (for lack of a better term) in the hopes of finding a publisher?Kickstarter funds are just to get a concept built to attract a publisher, it's nowhere near enough to build a game like Shadow Hearts.

Gotcha, thanks. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed that they do find a publishing partner, and one who cares about JRPGs.Some Kickstarters do use the funds to make a game or at least a sizable portion of it, but Penny Blood was not one of them yeah.
If so that would be rather strange I think, one of the backer rewards was a physical copy of the game (for both Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood), and that's already been paid for (at least in my case). Was that their initial pitch? This would also be good to know. Their updates are written as if they aren't concerned about it, so... hopefully? 🤞
I assume the current market is the biggest reason why it is having issues being picked up. If they were looking for a publisher 2 - 3 years ago they would probably have found one by now, but publishers seem to be very conservative and carefull at the moment.I don't think horror turn-based JRPG is THAT niche. I mean, that's Atlus' bread & butter and they seem to be doing just fine.
I wouldn't call Persona or SMT horror turn-based JRPGs.I don't think horror turn-based JRPG is THAT niche. I mean, that's Atlus' bread & butter and they seem to be doing just fine.
I tagged so many publishers on Twitter months ago to no avail
Others also did the same today
Honestly I don't know what else to do

99.9%. But it's worth remembering that the creator of Wild Arms (Akifumi Kaneko) followed up that 7 game long franchise with a huge multimedia hit in Symphogear, so he's got a lot of cachet and was doing the Penny Blood side a favour by partnering up.I think Armed Fantasia has found a publisher and has started full development unless I am just completely misremembering.
If this is true then at least one title made it, thank god. Hopefully the Kickstarter side of things isn't inelegant like it is in Eiyuden (backer names in towns, etc.)99.9%.
