I'll probably turn it off because I don't want to use it, but I don't give a shit if corporations "listen" to my conversations.
Hit me up with those sweet targeted advertisements baby.

Honestly... I don't care for this for game related stuff... but my question is... how in depth is the A.I?

Because if I want to cancel a preorder... I hope you can be like:
Me "PS5, I want to cancel a preorder"
A.I "What game would you like to cancel?"
Me "Fifa 23"
A.I "Please wait while I process your request... Thankyou, your game preorder has been cancelled!"

It's better than the dumb jumping through hoops to get it done now. There needs to also be a way to cancel preorders on the console OS... Anyways, yeah... I dont care much for the A.I integration in games... unless Sony can justify it somehow.

Nope. Stop caring about that shit long time ago. They're gonna do what they're do and I pretty much have nothing to hide besides embarrassing porn fetishes which in the long run ain't even that bad compared to other porn fetishes. Once you put yourself out there then that's it.

Fuck webcams tho.

Another generation spent muting everyone. Looking forward to it.
Enjoy doing it as long as you like video games

I didn't know many believe that they're being listened to, at least on Era

I mean, I have a smartphone, a laptop, VR headset with inside out motion tracking and that's just what I could've think of right now. A little too late for me to be concerned, that someone is spying on me. If anyone wants a video of me jerking off that badly, you're welcome, I guess.

If it's gonna be like you describe in the op, that shit will never get turned on. Sounds absolutely awful to me.

Not a chance in hell this is how it'll work, of course.

Depends on if it's activating for stupid shit all the time like Siri. If so, it's going off.

I'll probably disable it because it will be useless compared to Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Cortana. It's too late for Sony to enter this game.

As for privacy concerns - Sony will be gathering data a million other ways on the system.

Yes, I don't care for Google Assistant, Alexa etc. and I won't care for this either, so it'll be one of the first things I'll do.

I won't disable it but it's very unlikely I'll use it. The speaker seemed a waste of time on ps4 so I can't see it being better this time, and I intend to use headphones more often this time around too

This stuff never works properly, and even if it did I don't want to be talking to my console out loud, it's probably going to be irritating for other people in the same room.

I'll play around with it for a few minutes and never use it again.

If I get a PS5 I'll disable it for sure. It's a lot of fancy tech for a very minor improvement. Going from my collection of gaming magazines to the internet is a gigantic leap forward if I need help with a game. But going from the internet to internet with voice activation is barely an improvement. Not worth it.

Nah, in PS3 days I hated that there were no Halo-like social experiences on PS3, mainly because the online infrastructure sucked and the mic was a relatively expensive addition.

The fact that I don't need to plug in a mic to talk to someone is amazing and the greatest addition to the controller. Games like Sea of Thieves would be much better if you didn't have to plug in an uncomfortable headset just to talk to people if you encounter them.

And I can always mute anyone who is an asshole. Although I wish it had a physical mute switch. I can understand the privacy concerns.

Really depends on how they use mic and such for games.
Voice control and radio with in game AI similar to Elite: Dangerous, yeah that would be nice.

Siri and cortana like AI, yeah it's not going to be on.

LOL even.. if it was possible on a technical level.. no way they want to make it easy to cancel a preorder.

How about...
ME "PS5... I want to try out Madden23 before preordering, can you take me to the store to stream the demo?"
A.I "Certainly, processing......"
The PS5 then goes to the store... and we can play a demo of the game without downloading it (streaming it on the fly)

Ofcourse, I would like the A.I to refer to me as "Sir", "Emperor", maybe "King", also. I don't think thats too difficult for them.😁

Having a so called playstation assistant might be useful so I'll see how that pans out. As for actually talking to people in games and such I'll just stick to my mic on my headset.

The voice shite has never quite picked up my accent so I never use them anyway, so I will be turning it off for that reason. No point leaving it if it don't work.

Unless they come out with like a 'Hey you, Joel'. Like a Hey You, Pikachu but with Joel from TLOU. I'd turn it back on and put on a posh English accent to play that for sure.

AI assisted metrics, mics etc, off, and it will not be connected online for the longest time possible so there's not even anything to pool information resource from for it.

there are companies I trust* with my data, and companies I don't trust. Considering the history of Sony and the problems they had with security..I'll never turn it on.

*kinda. not really 100% but I see a worth in it to turn a function on that I need/find comfortable

Can't say until I actually here something about it. It could be rubbish, it could be amazing. It could be secure, it could be unsecure. I'm going to wait to hear what Sony say about it.

However there is the potential for it to be amazing. Imagine playing a game and you get a notification saying '[friend] is starting a multiplayer game of X, Y, Z' and then simply saying something like "Aloy, join game" (I'm thinking they'll go the feminine name route!) and you automatically drop straight into their party in-game within 10 seconds. You could even do something as simple as say "Aloy, find me a game of Duos in Apex/Warzone" and it'll do all the work to get you straight into the game or "Aloy, send the last ten seconds of this game to [friend]" and it'll send them a clip of some feat you've done or trophy you've earned.

To me there's a lot of potential so I'm not going to commit to anything until I see what it can do.

Unless your friends are all rocking Nokia 3210s then this is kind of pointless, our phones are collecting data all the time.

Sure. It's a game console, I don't need it for anything else, and if it's just to launch something, the gamepad is there for that.

This is the one I love.

Yeah, I will probably disable that stuff.
I had an index card rubber banded over my kinect and my phone alerts me when any apps use any "sensitive phone functions" or whatever (like phone, text functionality, microphone, location, camera, etc...).

Haha, I love it as well. I hope they make these products.

Yes. Don't want Skynet getting access to the amazing SSD powered processing power of the PS5.

Also these assistants are always just crap. They just screw up what you're trying to do and waste your time.

I said no but answer is really "it depends". if its works, is useful, and isn't a pain in the ass ill keep it. Cortana on xbox with kinnect did not work 95% of the time. My thermostat has Alexa, and will randomly unprompted start reading off scores of some sports game i dont give a shit about or even know anything about. So theres the two example of why I disabled the features on those devices.

I like siri on my iphone, and while i agree the functionality sucks, it doesn't have the two problems listed above. It works perfectly for what its capabilities are.

Also having a mic on the controller is something I think MS shoulda done with xbox one from the beginning. I am sure it would help with problems of cortana not hearing or misunderstanding if you have a mic that isn't on the other side of the room.

I'll have a play about with it but will probably disable. Don't use any of these smart ai/home speaker things. Don't see this changing any time soon.
