This was running in almost every major gaming magazine in the 90's. Prizes changed overtime. This was the late 90's version...I think other/earlier version had SNES, Jaguar and 3DO as prizes.

So did anybody actually win any of this? Know anyone who did? Or was it a scam!?

subwoofer, cd player, graphic eq, dual cassette hifi, dvd, vcr. probably receivers for the satellite and dolby speakers somewhere in there.

I admit I thought that was the coolest thing back in the day. When I saw Dark Forces and Doom running full speed on a friend's Packard Bell P-75 with the snazzy speakers, I was blown away.

My cousin got 3-4 rounds in on the previous generation of the contest, SNES, Gen, TurboDuo.
He said it cost him $5 for each subsequent that also required you to solve a word puzzle.
This was before www so you actually had to use the dictionary and supposedly was hard.
Maybe not so hard or how would they keep milking kids for this?
