What I take away is that Venom fans really will see anything with Venom in it :p
I wonder how good the second weekend will be though.
No thanks, please keep this garbage away from the MCU. I'd rather there be no Venom in the MCU than this Venom.

It made $5.5m total for last week. Even if it continues the same declines week after week, it should have enough to pass Something About Mary. How much higher than that is a question though. It's been out for a while. Does it have enough left in the tank to make it there?
Gaga will lose to Teen Titans GO! To The Movies.A Star Is Born is fantastic. Made me cry like a baby. Gaga has the best original song oscar on lock down. Good shot at best actress.
Oh man. That is going to hurt.Welp we are for sure getting a sequel to Venom
And I wont be surprised if Sony doesnt renew their contract with Marvel
Word of mouth didn't seem bad. I've seen many review among the line of saying it's a bad movie, but entertaining/fun/not bored etc.If it's really as bad as people say it is, Venom should have a big drop next week due to bad word of mouth. But a strong opening weekend like this is enough to make it profitable and basically guarantee a sequel.
Interesting statistics. Both Venom and ASIB had a great start curious to how the legs will be for both movies. But let's talk about audience breakdown:
The Star is Born audience is white AF. I am curious what other major releases swung that white.
Guess we have to root for Far From Home making a billiWelp we are for sure getting a sequel to Venom

Spidey is never coming.
Maybe Spider-gwen. But they didnt mention Spiderman at all. Got a random Daily Bugle mention.
I saw "A Star is Born" last night and honestly wish I had seen Venom or any other movie instead. One of the least enjoyable movies I've ever been to. Even my wife who normally loves these types of movies left it feeling just "meh". Gaga's performance lacked any soul, she felt one note and boring the whole time. The plot just coasted for 3/4 of the movie and the last 1/4 was so frustratingly stupid it's hard to any stomach. Her inability to actually show sadness really ruined the ending.
So normal superhero movie dropI am not expecting good legs per se, but I don't think that Venom is going to see anything approaching BvS' drop next weekend. I am thinking low 60s drop.
When I saw A Star Is Born there were sooooooo many old white ladies in my showing. But let's talk about audience breakdown:

People dismissed those massive trailer reviews at their own peril.People were delusional to think Venom wouldn't make a shit ton of money.
And I wont be surprised if Sony doesnt renew their contract with Marvel
"Kids love Venom"People were delusional to think Venom wouldn't make a shit ton of money.
Not to be dramatic, but in what universe would an R-rated musical drama open bigger than a superhero blockbuster with Spider-man's (arguably) most iconic villain?
Yeah the trailers views and overall buzz was substantial. It's also fairly low budget for this sort of film so it should almost already be profitable.People were delusional to think Venom wouldn't make a shit ton of money.
The Spider-Man Marvel deal was for only 2 movies. After the next Spider-Man this summer Sony is free to do whatever God awful things they want with him.
Oh they most certainly will.Welp we are for sure getting a sequel to Venom
And I wont be surprised if Sony doesnt renew their contract with Marvel
Nah. Keep that trash thing. Gives him character.
If next week's drop isn't too big, Sony is going to fast track Spidey 3 and make it a Venom crossover.
People were delusional to think Venom wouldn't make a shit ton of money.
Nah, I expected it to be no. 1 opening box office but I doubt it'll do that well long term especially with Halloween dropping in a couple of weeks.People were delusional to think Venom wouldn't make a shit ton of money.

The general audience seems to be enjoying this movie so I don't think you'll get your wishI still believe that Venom drops like an absolute rock next week and overall doesn't have an amazing run.
I'll admit that part of that is personal hope.
