Every time I see a picture like that I'm reminded how cheap playing on Xbox is. And that's just a small selection of the games making up the Game Pass buffet. It crazy how much you have access to for so little.
GP certainly has improved massively. I still remember the old times when the service launched and people said that it would be not realistic that third party AAA games would launch Day One. Like no chance at all. It's crazy to think that we are STILL not at the end of the road and GP will increase even more in value.
I like the people around here so I want to interact about this subject on ResetEra as well, as I do with my friends. 🤷 And stop stalking me please (jk). lol
Keep acquisition talk if necessary in this thread, creating its own one would be an absolute cluster-fuck. Don't care for it too much personally, but easy enough to scroll over..
There's a point with the acquisition talk where I just find the speculation of it rampant to a point where it's super obnoxious, and I haven't been posting much in this thread for that reason.
I want to be excited about games, and talk about them, and it's a shame that it actively feels like this thread isn't that.
There's a time and place for acquisition talk, sure, I just find it being a recurring theme here exhausting. Especially when, love or hate acquisitions, we know that MS is likely buying more studios. With that in mind can we just chill out then and enjoy the games, and when they do announce an acquisition talk about it then? So many of these "insiders" don't know dick, and at this point I feel like teh acquisition folks are grasping for so many straws they're citing random wannabe users on Xbox Era and twitter, as their "source" for something happening soon.
I feel like I could go on twitter, pose as an "insider" who knows something about Microsoft acquisitions and I'd see my tweets here, it's ridiculous. People were fuckin interpreting Sony Japan taking down the Bluepoint acquisition tweet they accidentally posted months ago as "Microsoft getting to them."
If you don't like something scroll past it. It's not that hard every now and then you guys discuss how Xbox should make a "GOTY" game and what it needs. I find that whole topic eye-rolling and TBH fucking stupid, but I don't complain. The acquisition is a big factor in Xbox and gaming right now. While stuff like Take 2 is way out there(The same thing was said about Bethesda) stuff like IOI or now CD are fair game to talk about and very realistic

Exactly. Quit policing what other people want to talk about in here for real. Just scroll on by. I see people in here complaining about it that I have to scroll by tons of their posts that I don't care to comment on for lack of interest in the subject. And, yes, it does mean I post less at times compared to other times in the OT. But the idea that I need to be posting in here on every page or else the thread is going to shit is ridiculous.
The likelihood of being bumped up to Alpha as an Insider before the console cloud gaming gets moved to possibly Beta/Delta/Omega is probably super low, right?
I'm apparently in the Delta ring and have been part of the system for 2 months. I've started doing the surveys and quests though, so hopefully that has some sort of effect.
The Gears 5 accessibility feature of visual cues in Escape mode is pretty cool though!
On to something different we need a list of semi-confirmed and confirmed games in development. With Tango's second game announced, that has to be like 15 known games
Phil Spencer has said that Xbox is working "every single day to increase our line-up of Japanese games", in order to "help bring Japanese games around the world."

Insanely well rounded. Just need a fighting game in there. Also global publishing games the same vein as Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey would really help round things out. Oh and some more family friendly stuff like Viva Pinata and Banjo of course. But all things considered, this is a far cry from just a few years ago.
I would also list Flight Simulator as an ongoing game.

Two things.
Usually people mostly talk about games in the OTs for the games.
Psychonauts 2 wasn't that much talked right here, for example. It's the same in the Sony thread. They've been fed constantly with big releases, and yet they're always looking forward to the future, the next event, not reflecting on what just happened. That's what these threads are about, really.
But also, let's not forget this is a thread about Xbox Game Studios and their games. Sure, we just got Psychonauts 2, but before that, the last time there was any big big massive content that wasn't a DLC was more than a year ago.
Believe it or not, a lot of us are still in a waiting mode, for the bigger games that are to come. Starting with Forza and Halo, sure, but further off personally what I'm really looking forward to is Fable, Starfield, Avowed, Hellblade, Perfect Dark, etc.
These games aren't coming anytime soon. So of course we're going to talk about a lot of other things in the meantime.
Also, when I actually talk games, like what I'm feeling about the Infinite's campaign, people tell me that I worry for no reason and move on. It's not like it's that easy to discuss, give honest criticisms and debate.

The acquisition stuff to me is just kinda in phases. There are times where it feels reasonable, and when it's reasonable I think it can be alright, but I also think there is a part of the Xbox community here, that wants Xbox to just keep acquiring and acquiring studios and developers and well, to be blunt I'm not a fan of that.
I think acquisitions are at best a grey area, where depending on the circumstance I'm all for or completely against it. Stuff like Crystal, and say IOI seems reasonable to me, but then I hop on over to other sites, and I see people thinking about MS buying Take Two. just a few days ago I saw posts about how the reason why Playstation Japan pulled down the bluepoint tweet is because MS got to them.
I'm very happy with MS's current first party studios and I don't think they need to buy a single additional studio for me to be happy, and I bought my Series X because of the Bethesda acquisition.
A lot of time it honestly just feels like a pointless circle jerk. Acquisitions take months to years, and a lot of the time I feel like they're speculated and talked about as if they're happening tomorrow.
I doubt they merge them. There's no reason to. Crystal Dynamics has name value. And they're over 300 employees and 3 locations. They can still work with The Initiate on some projects and work on their own for others. They're huge.
Grubb on Grubbsnax saying that Xbox has billions marked for Game Pass games for the rest of the fiscal year is pretty exciting. Sounds like their could be some big titles coming day one before July.
Compulsion would've been pretty inexpensive and they are located in a massive game development city(Montreal). IOI and CD both are studios that have multiple different offices and hundreds of employees.
Went on Twitter to read some reactions about xCloud launching in BR, MX, JP and AU and it's cool to see that there is a lot of excitment. A lot of people using the touch controls too.
Also Scarlet Nexus seems to have some kind of personalized touch controls interfaces. I want to see more games having unique interfaces.

If you don't look for deals and buy on ebay around 100 for one in decent condition. I was able to get one with 2 controllers and a few games for 80 but I was actively checking over several weeks
It's not a matter of being happy then need to compete.
Sony is making acquisitions like crazy when really they don't even need to, MS needs the studios since they are focused on a subscription. And the longer they wait the more likely companies like Apple/Google/Netlfix/Amazon/Facebook will buy companies like SE, Capcom, T2, Ubisoft, EA and make all their games banned from Game Pass and only available on their subscriptions.
Game Pass can't survive with just its first party games it needs 3rd party until they no longer require 3rd party to compensate the 1st party they should continue acquiring.
Microsoft can be happy with their portfolio of studios, because, they still have a gargantuan amount of studios under XGS. More doesn't automatically equal better and there's a significant risk of just growing recklessly.
Some rumors first appeared back in 2018, if I remember correctly. It was probably in design stage for years. Massive projects like that usually are. We know they're making/made a new engine for it, too. We know there will be vehicles in it.
It may not be a coincidence that 3 of ZOS's offices are pretty close to BGS's locations. It would make sense for easy coordination on the lore/design decisions. If it's really a MMO based in Starfield's universe (likely in the past, in order not to interfere with single-player games), I could see it releasing around 2024, which would make the wait until the next single-player game less obnoxious while BGS works on TES VI and FO5.
On a related note, Sarah Bond says Xbox is partnering with over 200 independent developers based in Japan: Astria and AI Somnium are some of the examples along with previously released Scarlet Nexus:

Made the thread.
Edit:
When I made the thread, I looked in Google to see where the other games are based. I really thought Mighty Goose and Eternal Return were Japanese.
But they were from Argentina and the Netherlands!
Man, the variety in indie games on Game Pass is insane.

About JP games on Xbox, what needs to be done:
1. Xbox increase the global install base. Not at PS level, but must be much better than Xbox One.
2. Xbox community buys/plays(via GP) JP games. I would say the overall interests in JP games from Xbox community is still low comparing to other 2 platforms. This is the big issue and this is a loop hole. Currently, the sales split of JP games is often 85/15 in favour to PS version. I think the gap must be narrowed to 60(PS)/40(Xbox), then JP publishers will NOT ignore the potential sales on Xbox and then the game will come to our platform (day 1 or at a later date).
3. Xbox Cloud gaming really takes off to give JP publishers a new opportunity to launch JP games on Xbox ecosystem.
A very tough uphill battle to fight and I don't think this issue will be gone in this generation (might be never solved...)
