Why does it matter? They have a platform for testing new features with the public before they roll it out to the live game and they're going to use it.

Cool that nothing from the showcase leaked, and the demos seem cool. Bet that the sudden ghost song/SIGNALIS (the second one confirmed for Xbox) demos have something to do with it. I expect a ton of demos shadowdropping on the 9th.

Wow. While they're at it they can test another brand new and state-of-the-feature: a server browser. It's a very difficult and never-before-done undertaking, though, and may require extensive flighting.

I can't think of something Tom Henderson has gotten wrong. I also like that a lot of the stuff he leaks are soon after and not some vague far off rumor like Persona is going to Xbox :P
Looks like we'll find out what's new in Design Lab on the 9th as MS announced the new pride controller will be available to order from the Lab on that date. Seems that any further additions will be part of the series of announcements on the 9th.
I don't think I've been this excited for an Xbox showcase in years. With Starfield and Redfall being delayed, it's likely actual releases will be thin this year but I'm just pretty dang jazzed to see some gameplay of a bunch of new games that have been years in the making.
