I have five days to beat Yakuza 5 and I'm only six hours in.
...I don't think I'm going to make it.
Man, after spending a bit of time in the God of War thread I feel really awful for Sega of America right now.
That delay is going to murder this game in the west.
did you ask IrishNinja i see him on the retro Sega Saturn community i'm a part of time to time.I have some banners, but I could use help applying character graphics to them if anyone is willing or able. I've been really busy since this is my last week at my current job.
I have some experience so I'd love to help, I'm free for the weekend starting tomorrow. If Irishninja wants to do it instead tho that's fine.I have some banners, but I could use help applying character graphics to them if anyone is willing or able. It should be noted that Kiwami 2 (28/8) will be released a few days before Dragon Quest XI (4/9), and Spider-Man (7/9).Haven't had much free time as of late, so I decided to put Kenzan on the back-burner until I've completed 6. Next week is going to be fun.
We'll just have to hope Kiwami 2 makes up for it
I'm so looking forward to all of your impressions once the game is finally officially out in the west. Not just story reactions, but also reactions to sidequests, minigames etc. Please enjoy everyone!

I definitely think that what will affect Y6's sales the most is the number 6 in its title and what it represents, haha. But on the other hand it's a niche title that as such has a dedicated fanbase behind it and will probably still sell relatively well regardless of other big games coming out.

I kinda hope they don't title the Ichiban game Yakuza 7.
Make it clear that people can start fresh with that game.
This is true, I loved Zero but had no intention to buy 6 because I thought you had to play all the other games to get something out of it. I bought Kiwami and loved that too and because everyone told me it's ok to play 6 without the other games I decided to preorder. But I imagine a lot of people won't bother due to the 6 in the name.I definitely think that what will affect Y6's sales the most is the number 6 in its title and what it represents, haha. Well I can confirm I did exactly the same thing myself. I didn't even mean to either, the plan was to do most of it then come back to it later, but I just couldn't stop playing that segment, it was so good (in my opinion). And once you reach the city, a bunch more stuff opens up to do! Its my favourite looking city in the game as well, the ice sculptures to the north of the map, so good.I 100% Saejima's Hunter and Killer before ever seeing Tsukimino for the first time, wonder how common that is lol. Really thought hunting and trapping was quite fun and relaxing, and the storytelling of the main quest wasn't bad at all.
Right on! I don't know how the majority of fans felt about it, but I too, really loved it. Wasn't my intent to do the whole thing either, I just kinda kept going. I even ended with twice the amount of stuff to sell to the trader as part of that one mission. Finally onto the town itself next time.Well I can confirm I did exactly the same thing myself. I'm assuming once Kamurocho finally comes along, gambling will be just as lucrative as it was in the last couple games? With the use of cheat items for roulette, Blackjack, Cho-han, etc., that's some additional easy millions right there. I hope a couple Zero Jewel are in as locker and substory rewards, since getting 3.5 million for doing nothing at all is always nice!Like me then, you probably have a huge bank account with Seijima. Which was super useful to do the hostess stuff etc. once you hit the city!
Yeah, gambling as per usual can net you some big bucks :)I'm assuming once Kamurocho finally comes along, gambling will be just as lucrative as it was in the last couple games? I don't think people are fully appreciate the gravity of the situation.
By September, Western Yakuza fans will be fully caught up with JP releases. I don't think that's ever happened since the time between Y1's english release and Y2's JP release.
I wonder when we get Fist of the North Star, since it looks fantastic, and Shadowman's impressions have been really good too.

PSA: Yakuza Dead Souls is currently on sale on the US PSN store for $7.99. In case you feel like shooting zombies with Majima or "get to the top" with him in Karaoke, hehe. (I still think it's a fun yet very janky game).
Speaking of: I wonder how impactful the Yakuza 6 storyline (especially everything around Haruka) will be for newer Yakuza fans who only played 0 and Kiwami 1 so far. I do think that it helps when you played all the titles (be it over the years or just recently, doesn't matter). After all we saw those characters grow up, become older etc. Personally it had a huge impact on me, also knowing that this will be the final chapter in the Kiryu saga. I got so attached to all the characters. Due to characters aging etc the Yakuza series pulled something of, which I haven't seen or experienced in any other video game series so far.
Contender for bet side story in 6. So good.
And while its not directly Yakuza related, yay! Shenmue 1 & 2 HD happening. Now I get Yakuza, Shenmue and Mega Man releases all in a year. Not to mention everything else Sony and Nintendo have on their consoles. Amazing year.
And Hokuto got released in Japan. So yeah, amazing stuff :) And on the wider Sega spectrum I was also super happy about Mania's physical release announcement.Pretty crazy month for Yakuza related news.
Within a span of 30 days we got the Kiwami 2 rapid localisation announcement, Shenmue 1 & 2 HD announcement and the Yakuza 6 release.
Decided to go back to the demo again just for the hell of it. Got 230,000 yen roughly so a nice amount going into the full game. Also around 300 - 600 in each of the exp things.
Btw the entrance to LIttle Asia that you're blocked from in the demo. It makes things awfully buggy with enemies in that area. They completely forget about you while near it, they can stop fighting you as if you ran away and sometimes they run at you and then suddenly forget you exist.
It's hilarious.
Also I assume you can't find cats at all in the demo? Looked up some locations but couldn't find any. I do have a lot of cat food with me for whenever I do find some.
Side note: Karaoke is bullshit. No misses, mostly greats with some goods and I get 87.xxx - should have been 90 at least :/
(Karaoke is still fun though :D)
Still miss bowling though.
