Former Dragon Age creative director's new game receives a teaser trailer ahead of full reveal

QUEBEC CITY, MARCH 27, 2024 - Yellow Brick Games, a new independent studio founded by AAA industry veterans Thomas Giroux, Jeff Skalski, Mike Laidlaw and Frédéric St-Laurent B. just announced its next move; they will fully transition to self-publishing. Their first title, a fantasy Action-Adventure game crafted over four years by a team of 68, will be releasing in 2025.

After years of quietly working on the project, the team shared a short teaser of the game across their social media platforms this morning. The game will be fully unveiled on April 2nd with an IGN First takeover scheduled for the entire month of April, providing many more details into this anticipated new title.

"We are thrilled to share this exciting news with our community. Self-publishing is a leap of faith, especially in the current turbulent industry climate, but it's also an opportunity to take our destiny into our own hands and reach out directly to players and the wider gaming community during this release." says Mike Laidlaw, Chief Creative Officer. "Our team has been hard at work for years, and we can't wait to showcase our debut project to the world. It's a huge milestone for us, and we see it as just the first step on what we hope will be a long and rewarding journey for the company, charting our own path, and growing our talents and products brick by brick."

Worth noting that this project was originally going to be published by Private Division. Now Private Division is no longer publishing and Yellow Brick Games will publish on its own.

Art style isn't doing a whole lot for me so far. I don't know if there's a word for it's style but it reminds me of several things.
I'll still check it out of course, hope it's good.

So many RPGs lately have this gritty, dark fantasy look to them. I'm glad this seems to be a change of pace.

They just published Penny's Big Breakaway but they're also publishing No Rest for the Wicked and Game Freak's new IP that's coming out in 2026 or something.

In addition to this, they have:

New Survival Horror IP (Bloober Team)
Project Bloom (Game Freak)
Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game (Weta Workshop)

They had also previously announced a new project from Due Gute Fabrik, but they unfortunately closed down.

Laidlaw knows his stuff. Definitely interested in what he's been cooking up.

Art style is beautiful just from that teaser.

Really excited to see how these projects by studios with former BioWare leads turn out (as well as current BioWare projects). Looking forward to the full reveal.
