So you are producing a movie and you have free reign to pick one of these composers for your movie. Who do you pick?

John Williams,
Danny elfman
Hans Zimmer
Randy Newman
Alan Silvestri

Now if none of these are who you would pick, please specify below. So to remind you of some of the movies these folks have done, here is a list:

John Williams- Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, ET, Indiana Jones series, Home Alone, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter 1-3, Schindler's list List, Munich, Memoirs of a Geisha

Danny Elfman- Batman 89, Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, Raimi Spiderman, Nightmare Before Christmas, Men in Black, Goodwill hunting, Beetlejuice, Avengers Age of Ultron

Alan Silvestri- Romancing The Stone, Back to the Future movies, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump, Contact, The Abyss, Mummy returns, The Avengers

Hans Zimmer- Driving Miss Daisy, True Romance, Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Lion King, Interstellar, Gladiator, Inception, Dunkirk, Dark Knight trilogy,

Randy Newman- Seabiscuit, Toy Story movies, A Bug's life, Monsters Inc, Cars, The Princess and the frog, James and the Giant Peach,.

So who do you pick Era?

Toby Fox. He is a prodigy who I am desperate to see more work from, especially in other formats.

My dream is to see Toby Fox write the music for an animated Disney musical (which I am also directing for the purpose of this thought exercise).

Zimmer. The Pirates theme is probably my favorite orchestrated song from a film franchise and I like a lot of the other songs he's worked on.

I remember him doing Black Ops 2, and for a COD game, it had a killer soundtrack.

Do they have to be alive?

If they do, Morricone.

If not, I'd also consider the ghost of Georges Delerue. He doesn't get enough love. Listen to this:

Your poll options are too Anglocentric, OP!

Oh, and shout out to Bernard Herrmann.

Give me Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings), James Newton Howard (Unbreakable/The Village/Lady in the Water), or Max Richter (The Leftovers).

And out of those three, I think I'd Richter?

Easy mode: Hildur Guðnadóttir.

Chernobyl and Joker have god-tier soundtracks.

If I'm making a movie, it's probably going to be the cyberpunk detective noir thing that I have in my head. In that case, I'm working with Mitch Murder.

Trent and Atticus with Rezz.

They have the best dark, moody sounds for the style of movie I would make. Rezz fits in with this style and I feel she could become great with their training.

Michael Giacchino,

He's the guy that did the Incredibles Theme.

The music for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

And Spiderman Far From Home

Among many others.

Martin O'Donnell. He composed Halo soundtrack (I think?). I absolutely love the Halo soundtrack. In particular, he depicted the mood of the game Halo Reach so well, it completely made the story whole.

I'm a big fan of Clint Mansell. His scores have such emotion and soul in them, which my porno movie is lacking.

if he were still alive (RIP) Jóhann Jóhannsson.

but since he isn't, his heir apparent, close collaborator and potentially a future master Hildur Guðnadóttir

Maybe Michael Giacchino if I was making an action movie, the dude is super underappreciated.
He is really good at making soundtracks that highlight the action on the screen, his atmospheric tracks are also pretty great.

Probably Bear McCreary or Ludwig Goransson since any movie I would make would likely be in the Sci Fi and/or Fantasy genre and I'm not overly fond of huge epic orchestral arrangement.

Ennio Morricone. You're going to compose for my spaghetti art house film. I call it, Sunday Morning.

Hideki Naganuma and yes, I know you asked for movie composers. In this bullsjit reality where I'm given free reign over the movie of my dreams, better believe I'm bringing some antifa French anime movie to the screen.

I would honestly just fund Shane Carruth's (Primer, Upstream Color) The Modern Ocean, which Tom Holland called the best script he ever read. He wrote, directed, shot, produced, starred in, composed for, and distributed Upstream Color, so imagine if someone's actually looking out for him and his film instead of being left to fend for himself all alone.
