Another one down

YouTube banned Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes on Monday, marking the latest social-media blow for the man who started the far-right men's group. McInnes had amassed more than 220,000 subscribers on YouTube before the ban, but now both his YouTube profile and channel on YouTube show up as deleted. McInnes' channel was deleted for copyright infringement, according to a statement on the page. McInnes' YouTube ban, which follows earlier bans from Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, means he no longer has access to any major social-media platform. On Saturday, McInnes lost his job at conservative internet video site CRTV, following its merger with Glenn Beck's The Blaze.

It's kind of dumb that he was banned for copyright infringement rather than, you know, inciting violence and hate speech.

they are cracking down on alt right voices now? gavin mcginnes was directly apart of an FBI watch list as the proud boys causing violence so...

but why copyright infringement? just say the reason why you are throwing him, the real reason. these folks deserve to be called out for their actions

Because then they wouldn't be able to weasel their way out of explaining why they haven't banned way more of these people.

Tech CEOs are a bunch of weenies

That's dangerous....cause you could do the same to any voice and then weasel out of it by saying something else. We need transparency from these entities which control our media

If they are gonna destroy this guy for being an alt right racist fuck, they gotta

A. explain clearly that they are culling him for being an alt right racist fuck

B. cull all the alt right racist fucks like roaming millenial, ben sharpio, pragerU, sargon, steven crowder...basically all the right wing voices

Now if they are culling him cause he was apart of proud boys for causing racial violence, that also should be called out.

Did something happen recently that they are now quicker to ban?
It takes only one successful case without significant backlash to prod other platforms into dropping these Nazi bozos. I think most of them are reluctant to make the first move but as long as one platform does it, it gives the go ahead to everyone else. In McInnes' case it started with his Twitter and snowballed from there.

but they dont need to take him down by legal means. isnt it in their TOS that they take people down for inciting hatred or racial violence? well just say that. its a legitimate thing to do
You're not wrong, but you'll get stuck in a semantic battle of what's "inciting." Instead of their teams battling for days on social with people about violence, they side step it and just say "nahh, he stole something and the infringement is cut and dry." It's the cowards way, but it's less intensive all around.

You're not wrong...

Just a half measure though. They only banned him on Copyright because they don't want the shit hole humans to leave their platform. Grow a backbone, Google. Jesus...
