This is most troubling. Report back your findings.I was born in '88 but I have older siblings, so Zelda's been in my life as long as I can remember. We had both NES games, Link's Awakening, and eventually both N64 games but for whatever reason never LttP. We had a SNES and a good amount of games for it. I'm going to have to ask my family about this. I have played it since, but I have no early memories of it.
The rain and trying to find a way into the castle is ny first memory I think, set a hell of a mood. I still think it is the best zelds game ever made. I'll never forget being at the top of the pyramid after entering the dark world the first time. The music, sunset background and realization that the game actually just started...damn Nintendo really cooked up something legendary with that game
First reply nailed it. What a tone-setter.
A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game ever. The ending feels meaningful and gives the player a sense of accomplishment (especially if you played this as a kid), and the end credits music is soothing and quite moving, as it ushers you out of the experience.
I think this was the first game where I felt depressed after having completed it (but unable to articulate why at the time) because, now looking back, I knew intuitively that anything else would be a disappointment.
This right here. Coming from the NES, this was legit a next gen experience. Incredible way to start a game with this graphical and audio showcase
Boy do I have a site for you: http://samus.linkThis is my favorite game of all time, period (Along with Super Metroid. I will NEVER choose between them).
Honestly, it's been way too long since I 1st played it, so I don't remember any early memories of it.
prop the best? yeah def the best randomized romhack ever made and its so smooth and seamless its like Nintendo did it themself
Think it's still in beta, but there's another one that mixes Super Metroid, LTTP, Zelda 1, and Metroid all together lolprop the best? yeah def the best randomized romhack ever made and its so smooth and seamless its like Nintendo did it themself
holy :OThink it's still in beta, but there's another one that mixes Super Metroid, LTTP, Zelda 1, and Metroid all together lol
This seems... amazing, and I'm going to tackle it as soon as I come home from work
How did you beat #5 without the hookshot? O_oI'm old, so I got the game when I was ~10 years old, and I loved it. It was definetly my favorite game until OoT came out.
Fun fact, I didn't have a guide as a kid, and I couldn't figure out how to get into the Temple #2 in the Dark World. I ended up beating temples 3, 4 and 5, before beating #2. I found it super cool that you didn't have to do them in order (you can do #4 before #3 as well).
Looking at a quick walkthrough, it indeed seems like the hookshot is 100% required. Huh. I must be remembering wrong. Definetly did 3 and 4 before the swamp temple though, I remember not being able to figure out the light world / dark world trick of draining its entrance. How did you beat #5 without the hookshot? O_o
(there's a glitch you can do in randomizers with the Cane of Somaria from #6, but not in the normal game cause you won't have it)
Fair enough lol. I guess technically you can do a bomb jump to short circuit the need for the hookshot, but most people don't generally know that weird little trick.Looking at a quick walkthrough, it indeed seems like the hookshot is 100% required. My best guess is that I got the hookshot, but then couldn't figure out the rest of the temple, so I went ahead and beat the ice level. Then 30 years passed, and my brain blended doing #3-4 first with #5.
I can't imagine that I was figuring out advanced speedrun tricks in 1994. I beat the game a dozen times before I figured how to get across that gap to the bonus room in Ganon's Tower.Fair enough lol. Oh yeah same haha. I was like 7 when it came out so I wasn't doing those eitherI can't imagine that I was figuring out advanced speedrun tricks in 1994. I beat the game a dozen times before I figured how to get across that gap to the bonus room in Ganon's Tower.
