There is an extra one which is "land a Nice Curveball" (as well as the 3 greats in a row) - last month it gave out Slowpoke but its switched over to Gastly

Awesome! Then you will get that Gold Sojourner medal no problem. You should start working on Recharger a good bit. That is a good one to do while at home just watching TV or so. Find some high level Portals, L7 and L8 esp, hang onto those keys if possible and recharge them every other day. With a bunch of those, you can easily gain 100k easily. I'm at 7 million currently.
It will be a slow grind to lv 10, but you will get there eventually.
I have now submitted 8 new portals, 6 or 5 of which are possible for pokestops. Hopefully I hear back soon.
So I was trying to remember all the Gen 3 Pokemon, so I looked online for a list of what there was, and I've come across so many that I had forgotten about completely. Like Zangoose, Tropius, Volbeat, Kecleon, and so on... Are any of these even in Pokémon GO?

Zngoose, Tropius & Volbeat are regionals.
Kecleon isn't released yet
Ah ok, thanks! Sucks that Tropius is regional. That was probably among my top 5 in Ruby.
Zangoose and Seviper are also the weirdest regionals in that originally :
Zangoose was region locked to NA
Seviper was region locked to Europe

The *best* quests are excellent throws - its either a single excellent for an Absol encounter or 3 in a row for a Larvitar
some quick suggestions
1) Pick something big to practice on so you have a big circle - Wailmer are great for these and if your in Europe Mr Mime is also a good choice (or do a T5 raid and go for Regice)
2) Give it a nanab berry which will stop it jumping around
3) Have something stored to do these with
For 3) if you get a quest reward which is an Onyx or a Wailmer then dont collect the quest (or run from it) and it will just sit and wait for you - when you then get this quest then you can keep throwing and the Pokemon will not run away

These bonuses are siiiick. After popping a lucky egg, it's about 1000 XP per catch and level 5 raids worth 40k. Amazing. I racked up over 100k just walking back from work yesterday.
I'm short like 30 coins to buy the Great Box for more lucky eggs though. I have two pokemon in gyms right now that would net me that, but just waiting for someone to bounce them out. Hurrrry. I'm really looking forward to doing that commute again after work, haha.

Yeah, I did a lunch time quad on one Lucky Egg. 160k XP plus I leveled up a handful of friends, hatched some eggs and caught like 30-40 random mons. Probably got close to 300k XP in one hour.

Those seemed pretty rare to me in 1st part, so hard to say currently.
Yes, but it matters what time you collected the quest in that case. The July quests came in at 1PM PDT. (If it helps, 1PM PDT is 15 minutes from the time of this writing.)
ah that's a good point, I'm in Mountain Time(one hour ahead of Pacific) and I don't really remember when on Sunday I got the quest.
Between this heat wave killing me and my GPS shitting the bed on my phone.. I've not played much recently and it makes me sad :'(
I've got 1 vulpix, 1 sandshrew, 1 meowth, and then 5+ Rattatas... I'd gladly take another Meowth at this point.
if it makes you feel better, it took me about 64-65 Alolan eggs to get one Vulpix.
I got a second one about 8 eggs later.
I'm done with 7km eggs now.
No idea why they added A Ratata into the rotation since they're so common in the wild. Seems like Meowth's is heavily weighted as well from reading Reddit.
havent been keeping count but I got my Vulpix about a week ago. I know I did get a crapton of Meowth though.
I've been using the free incubators from leveling up. Down to my last one now though.
I'm not even stressing about Alolan Vulpix anymore.

I mean Rattata just replaced Meowth, it's not like it really changed the odds of Vulpix at all
Oh is Meowth no longer hatchable? Guess I do still have a lot of older eggs.
not it is, but like Meowth was like a 70% chance or something. Now it's like 35% and Rattata is 35%. (pulling those numbers out of nowhere)
So your odds didn't really change, you just get more variety in the "common hatch" slot.

I complained about this before, so sorry in advance if it's annoying to hear me vent, lol.
There are 6 gyms in my neighborhood, and they're all basically being monopolized by one guy. He/she has 3 level 40 accounts (I figure it's the same person because they all have the same name, just with different digits 7, 8, and 9 at the end) and fills the gyms with max blisseys, snorlaxes, and chanseys. And there's no point in even trying to take down one of the gyms because they're almost instantly taken back with the same 3 trainers plopped back in simultaneously. Super frustrating.
I really don't get the motivation for this aside from trolling the people actually trying to enjoy this game legitimately.

Hey, at least you can do the "Battle a gym" quests easily. I have to trash those sometimes because all the gyms around me are blue.
It looks like you change your time zone to a place where it is tomorrow, trade, revert time zone, trade again, then go battle gyms together until you max out.

I got 4 alolan eggs waiting in my inventory though. Luckily I got an incubator from one of the mew reseach tasks that I just started paying attention to so things are going a bit faster than they would.
I know this is much more of a chance to vent rather than asking for specific advice around this but I did think about what I would do in these circumstances.
The best is of course to ignore it however depending on how much effort you want to put in :
Take a gym and defend it (via golden berries) - so put something big in and just berry it - works best if you can have a friend on the same team who can also put something in as well
Take a gym , go to the other end of the area and take another - when they retake the first one go back and retake it again and repeat (more to see who will get tired first)
Have friends of the same colour as this person take the gym and fill it with their Pokemon , then leave them in there - they cant put stuff in if its already full
Take a gym , and have a friend of the 'other' colour stay near the gym - when its being battled down wait till near the end and get your friend to join in the battle and as a battle winner they have the chance to get a pokemon in first - get them to put something in quickly which will switch the gym to the 3rd colour - if they start to battle it down do the same again for your colour
Just let the gyms degrade; it takes about 8 hours to fully degrade. Then clear the gym once the motivation is low enough to be able to clear it in one round; Chansey might take two rounds. Put a high CP Blissey in yourself and feed her golden razzes if she's attacked immediately. At some point in time, the multi-accounter will get bored with managing three accounts at the same time.
