Good thing is people who are usually very critical of gameplay seemed to really enjoy playing the demo. I just hope EA doesn't fuck things up somehow.

This is such a mechanical game that everything else, like the world and atmosphere, somehow is getting lost. It's an open-world-ish loot shooter with skills and classes. Sure it looks good but there is no unique charisma to it. :-(

The gameplay seems to be good, but that's not enough for me sadly.

"See those radiant pieces of energy? They're echoes from the Anthem of Creation. Return them to the relic. You've got to silence it fast."

Even the writing smacks of Destiny to me. I know I'm going to play this thing regardless, but lines like this don't inspire much confidence in terms of getting hooked by the story.

All those videos that are released now showcase enemies that are absolute bullet sponges. Either that or the players are weak as heck in those demos.

Still moderately hyped for the game.

Having played it myself, I was pretty floored by the controls. The feeling of motion and flight is extremely well executed. Very curious to see how this turns out in the end.

Hopefully the combat feels good and the narrative/content is fun, because it looks like the most cynical Destiny clone imaginable.

As a person that loves destiny, this looks really awesome. The better Anthem it is the more it will push Bungie to do more so its win-win for me. They do need to tone down the damage numbers it's a little too big right now that's my biggest complaint as a person has not played it.

As a side note, I can tell this is another game that won't is good to talk about on ERA if these threads are anything to go by... I originally signed up to talk about destiny until I realized this site generally hates that game too, I know there is a good community but its pretty tight nit.. maybe ill be lucky and Anthem finds a place like that too, assuming it turns out good.

The combat looks terrible... the numbers.... 70,70,70,70,70,70 117...
and the heavy armor one doesn't move in the combat! How he shoot looks so boring.

Though I've pre-ordered the game. I'm not satisfied with what I've seen.

I'm not opposed to pre-ordering as I often pre-order games myself, but what about this game tipped you to pre-order? I mean if anyone has something to prove, its Bioware AND you don't like what you've seen so far.

It just seems odd to preorder a game that you don't have a a good feeling, and almost a year in advance at that. So I'm legitimately curious; what tipped you over the edge?

Back on topic - The shooting looks fine, but what seems to be missing is the movement. Destiny fights are so fun in part because of the constant give and take in positioning and your ability to get around the play area. Looking at Anthem so far, none of the play spaces look particularly interesting to fight in, just beautiful to look at.

Presentation and graphics seem very impressive, and the mechanics seem good. However, I the encounters themselves seem pretty standard, without even the spice of narrative context, and the boss battle, while exhibiting some impressive weaponry and effects seems to be a bit bullet spongey, and the enemy didn't seem to have interesting abilities or hostility.

I really don't like how the boss is a total bullet sponge. Guess it is a pve multiplayer thing, but personally it makes me feel that my character is weak.

I'm guessing that you've never played a pve multiplayer thing before?

God, I can't imagine how some of you would react to some WoW boss fights. "Why does the boss take so much damage?"...

I understand that mindset for a game like The Division where you shoot humans, but not against non-human enemies.

A creature 10 times bigger than you (with probably hardened skin) won't go down with one or two shots.

I'm with you on this, very curious to see how this turns out.

But if you're looking for discussion, I don't know. Anything positive about Anthem will be used as a stick to beat Destiny with, see the threads that were popping up just before Division dropped.

The more competition in the market the better. Hoping this turns out well.

I realise this is a backhanded compliment but I'm not sure how they can possibly have enough unique areas and things to do when the game looks expensive as fuck.

Yes I have played mmo's and Destiny. Even Borderlands sequels had bulled sponge bosses (weirdly the first one didn't as I could murder the last boss in two seconds). I understand that they want the bosses to not go down instantly. But there are other ways to do it besides just giving them ton of health. That just makes the fight more repetitive.

Why people say "This is what Destiny should be"? Main problem with Destiny was content, no? How do we know that Anthem will have more content or better support?
Are people really saying that? That's hilarious, Destiny for all its faults has one of the best combat loops in the industry.

Comparatively, Anthem combat looks boring.

Let's wait to see if this game has any longevity. I personally don't think this will amount to much.

Agreed. Its one of the reasons I hope they smash it out of the park, Bungie needs it to push them, look at what Destiny did for The Division it pushed that team to make a great product.

I don't think we need to beat on destiny or anthem if they do something better than the other its way better to support and hope both products are good but your right it happens.

I just wish the hive mind when it comes to EA and Bioware wouldn't taint this product but I think its too far gone for that to change in most peoples minds, no wonder the dev team is so worried about it all.

Not really seeing why people are going apeshit after this.

I'll probably wait until it hits the EA Vault at this rate.

This was a much better viewing than the E3 showcase (awful)
I'm finally mildly interested in this, flying looks fun along with the shooting. Hopefully there are good story cinematics/lore and interesting characters like the intro showed.

Colossus seems like a snooze fest Javelin though. I want to see the Storm and Interceptor.
I'll definitely need to play a beta with some friends before committing to picking this up but shits looking up after seeing this vid.

Edit: glad we can turn down those yellow damage numbers. Can't see crap when shooting enemies with all that in your face!

As always, Anthem continues to divide people. Need more info on loot etc but the rest looks good to me.

I'm sold on the world setting and the trailer they explain about the myth behind this world. It's not earth. It has something to reveal. So I pre-ordered... but after I see more of the combat, it sets my expectation downgrade...

Maybe it's just me but I think Monster Hunter and Warframe have more to worry about with Anthem than Destiny does. The structure of Anthem seems way more similar to those games, particularly MonHun.

Outside of the 4 players fighting a large boss, I don't see MH in Anthem. MHW does have the more open maps now but still not massive open world like Anthem is.

Doesn't show much happening and I'm somewhat concerned over the movement and gunplay as it looks rather stiff.

Still think it will be fun for a while and looks a lot more like The Division rather than Destiny when it comes to combat, looks to be very bullet spongy with emphasis on spraying bullets into enemies and remaining fairly static.

Looking forward to seeing more of the world and how progression works. They could do quite a bit with the game just with having a large variety of monsters to fight against which has different weaknesses/attack styles and what not which is one of the more limiting factors in The division and Destiny 2.

Anthem doesn't have the same gameplay loop as MonHun- the loot system is more traditional Diablo inspired system where enemies exploded into colourful rewards.

MonHun also doesn't have grunt enemies to kill by the dozen.

Essentially Anthem follows more conventional loot base game with immediate gratification (I'm using this term as neutrally as possible)

A lot of unwanted pessimism on the first page without even seeing much of the other aspects of the game firsthand. Tone down your negative wishes for a minute and look at how beautiful the game is first.

This place wasn't gonna be positive on a Destiny like game anyways.

I don't see much negativity around The Division 2 and there are many people who said they're looking forward to Anthem, even in this thread. The revelation of a new Borderlands would likely lead to ecstatic reactions. ResetERA is huge and opinions vary.

The reactions to Anthem mostly come from the slow and weirdly muted unveiling. We just expected more of a bang from the E3 presentations. The footage in the OP is the best we've seen so far, after a lot of talking heads and little real gameplay, but it has some weak spots.

Seems like I'm not the only one who feels Anthem shares more similarity to MH than Destiny.

Mainly the single player hub and the mission system (reminds me of MH quest board).

There haven't been as many The Division threads as Anthem so don't know how the reception is, as for Anthem, I agree the E3 showing was disappointing but this new footage is everything a fan of the genre could ask for, I think most of the negativity coming from fans of old BioWare, going from story focused games to a MP one can be disappointing.

Such as make the players use the environment to harm the boss or to make it vulnerable. Not saying they wouldn't have this in the actual game, but that to me that battle in the video was just too bullet spongy.
I am sure they will add more to large bosses than just shoot them for 10 mins. That boss you have to pop the sacks on its back and then it goes into other stages. Feels a bit more like a WoW Dungeon encounter.

If I remember correctly they also said you will encounter that boss a few times so it makes sense it's nothing special.

Maybe it's because of my low expectations, but this looks incredible. I'm guessing the business model around it will be impossibly greedy though, so I will likely be playing it years after release.

LOOKS awesome but I'm reserving my judgement for customization/loot video. Also, not sure about flying. It's no coincidence Blizzard restricts flying mounts on the release of every new WoW expansion. I fear flying will make us completely disconnected from the world :/

Yeah, in retrospect, this game is basically Destiny but I like the environmentsame here a ton more and the lore seems more interesting than Destiny to me. I can't wait for this, only thing now is ill need a squad.
