My initial impression is very lukewarm. I want to be excited for this game, but between Forsaken and Division 2, this will get lost.
The combat looks terrible... the numbers.... 70,70,70,70,70,70 117...
and the heavy armor one doesn't move in the combat! How he shoot looks so boring.
Though I've pre-ordered the game. I'm not satisfied with what I've seen.
I'm guessing that you've never played a pve multiplayer thing before?Guess it is a pve multiplayer thing, but personally it makes me feel that my character is weak.
I'm with you on this, very curious to see how this turns out.As a person that loves destiny, this looks really awesome. The better Anthem it is the more it will push Bungie to do more so its win-win for me. They do need to tone down the damage numbers it's a little too big right now that's my biggest complaint as a person has not played it.
As a side note, I can tell this is another game that won't is good to talk about on ERA if these threads are anything to go by... I originally signed up to talk about destiny until I realized this site generally hates that game too, I know there is a good community but its pretty tight nit.. maybe ill be lucky and Anthem finds a place like that too, assuming it turns out good.

God, I can't imagine how some of you would react to some WoW boss fights. "Why does the boss take so much damage?"...
I understand that mindset for a game like The Division where you shoot humans, but not against non-human enemies.
A creature 10 times bigger than you (with probably hardened skin) won't go down with one or two shots.
Are people really saying that? That's hilarious, Destiny for all its faults has one of the best combat loops in the industry. Why people say "This is what Destiny should be"? Main problem with Destiny was content, no? How do we know that Anthem will have more content or better support?
Visually it was very nice, a lot better on that front than Destiny. Wish we could have more skills equipped though, feel like onsole control schemes and a desire for simplicity are holding things back there.

But if you're looking for discussion, I don't know. Anything positive about Anthem will be used as a stick to beat Destiny with, see the threads that were popping up just before Division dropped.
The more competition in the market the better. Hoping this turns out well.
I dont know. It such a big part of the game and battles that no cooldown would have been nicer imo,But you cool by diving down and the rushing air cooling the jet packs, or flying through water.
So I think its an incredibly cool and fun mechanic myself.
I'm not opposed to pre-ordering as I often pre-order games myself, but what about this game tipped you to pre-order? I mean if anyone has something to prove, its Bioware AND you don't like what you've seen so far.
It just seems odd to preorder a game that you don't have a a good feeling, and almost a year in advance at that. So I'm legitimately curious; what tipped you over the edge?
Back on topic - The shooting looks fine, but what seems to be missing is the movement. Destiny fights are so fun in part because of the constant give and take in positioning and your ability to get around the play area. Looking at Anthem so far, none of the play spaces look particularly interesting to fight in, just beautiful to look at.
Outside of the 4 players fighting a large boss, I don't see MH in Anthem. MHW does have the more open maps now but still not massive open world like Anthem is.Maybe it's just me but I think Monster Hunter and Warframe have more to worry about with Anthem than Destiny does. The structure of Anthem seems way more similar to those games, particularly MonHun.
This place wasn't gonna be positive on a Destiny like game anyways. As always, Anthem continues to divide people. Need more info on loot etc but the rest looks good to me.
Sadly with a feb 2019 launch, it means we still have months and months of people being meh on it and calling it a Destiny clone. This place wasn't gonna be positive on a Destiny like game anyways.

You can upgrade javelins and there are also freelancer perks to reduce your heat buildup and allow longer flights.

There haven't been as many The Division threads as Anthem so don't know how the reception is, as for Anthem, I agree the E3 showing was disappointing but this new footage is everything a fan of the genre could ask for, I think most of the negativity coming from fans of old BioWare, going from story focused games to a MP one can be disappointing.I don't see much negativity around The Division 2 and there are many people who said they're looking forward to Anthem, even in this thread. The revelation of a new Borderlands would likely lead to ecstatic reactions. ResetERA is huge and opinions vary.
The reactions to Anthem mostly come from the slow and weirdly muted unveiling. We just expected more of a bang from the E3 presentations. The footage in the OP is the best we've seen so far, after a lot of talking heads and little real gameplay, but it has some weak spots.
Such as?Yes I have played mmo's and Destiny. Even Borderlands sequels had bulled sponge bosses (weirdly the first one didn't as I could murder the last boss in two seconds). I understand that they want the bosses to not go down instantly. But there are other ways to do it besides just giving them ton of health. That just makes the fight more repetitive.
I am sure they will add more to large bosses than just shoot them for 10 mins. That boss you have to pop the sacks on its back and then it goes into other stages. Feels a bit more like a WoW Dungeon encounter.Such as make the players use the environment to harm the boss or to make it vulnerable. Not saying they wouldn't have this in the actual game, but that to me that battle in the video was just too bullet spongy.
Maybe it's because of my low expectations, but this looks incredible. I'm guessing the business model around it will be impossibly greedy though, so I will likely be playing it years after release.
