Power Drive 2000. Dude just up and vanished. I mean, I think it was only $20, but still...

Everything else has delivered, some more than expected (and others less). It's balanced out pretty well for me in terms of gaming KS projects. I think I have much better luck with the physical ones as opposed to software.

We still receive regular updates for La Mulana 2, but hooooooly shit, it's taking forever. Original delivery date was supposed to be December 2015.

Only games I have backed:

-Pillars 2 - (Haven't started yet lol)
-Yooka Laylee - (I was fine with it personally)
-Bloodstained - (Curse was a cool bonus, hopefully the full game don't suck)

The only game that I have ever backed was Bloodstained, and based on how things are going with that it will more than likely be my last.

Drift Stage. Been like, 3 years (due date was Dec 2015) - first year was OK, backer builds went out. But they'd thrown out the physics engine to make a new one that barely anyone actually liked, and so as far as I can tell the bulk of development just went into unfucking those. And then backer builds stopped and shifted to a small amount of backers instead, and now a couple of years later a Steam build has finally been released to backers... and you can't even pass the track select screen in it without a lightning strike of luck. And the one time I did load in, the only new stage to be added in like a year was almost entirely a straight line. Every update was "Steam builds are nearly done!" and then they'd be saying the same a year later.

And one time when I was chatting with a friend about how I felt it'd been mishandled (they launched vinyl sales, apparel sales, some JP car event sponsorship barely a couple months after the Kickstarter 3 years ago) one of the two main devs blocked me, meaning I can't even ask about the issues with the game. And the day Slipstream (another Kickstarted racing title), got released, the dev in question put up a not-so-subtle tweet insinuating it was a Drift Stage rip-off.

Well damn, good thing Slipstream didn't rip off the "not releasing a functioning game" part then.

I am glad that I am not the only person who feels this way.

Friday the 13th. Mainly because of the recent news that they basically skated close to the edge of the impending law suit and despite promising content like Uber Jason etc, they're ceasing any ongoing dlc or support for the title.

Even if the lawsuit doesn't come to pass for them they've said they still won't go back and continue supporting the title which irks me to say the least.

I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I've never sent you a PM. I don't even know who you are.

And the game IS coming. I recently started a discord.

recent gif I took to demonstrate something:

72ICdRG.gif

Game is still pre-alpha, but I had to restart its development in Unity about 6 months ago because the engine was fucking up so bad. I'm working on it full time.

Please don't spread lies about me. If you have questions or concerns feel free to hit me up and I'll do my best to respond, but this is just weird.

Anyway -- I'm actually getting semi-close to posting new video(s) and soon after that a new backer demo. I think that'll go a long way to renew peoples' faith in the game since I so strongly feel the new build is so much better than the old one. Making a game is really difficult and time consuming, and for various reasons I ended up having to work on this thing alone. It's a tremendous burden, but I take it very seriously and it's still my only job. I've completely displaced my life to work on and finish this thing. I understand and deserve criticism, and I'm here to listen to and answer it, but what I don't understand this level of vitriol. I'm doing this because I love and care about it. I'm deeply embarrassed that it's taking years beyond the original projected release, and I fucking hate that I've disappointed anyone -- But I'm never giving up, and finally delivering a good game is what I look forward to more than anything else in the world.

Apologies if I am being dense, but I just simply cannot find the name of your game anywhere...

What is it called, and what platforms are you aiming to release this rather interesting looking game on?

You have got my curiosity, that's for sure!

I'm in the middle of moving and today I found my unopened physical NES box and manual for Mighty No 9. I had forgotten about it and the minute I saw it all the regret came rushing back.

So lets see:

Cryamore - Sad its taken so long, bit worried about this one though they do seem to be pottering along and working hard on it, so here is hoping. (60$)

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters - Wanted a signed copy of Alice Madness Returns, got that so A+ lol (60$)

Road Redemption - Eh, not as road rash as i wanted tbh, messy and flimsy, feels cheap (£20)

A Hat in Time - 3D collect-a-thon platformer - Fun great little game, happy with that though it was massively late on delivery ($30)

Alice: Otherlands - Got 2 short Alice films out of this, both were very cool, well worth it. ($60)

Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope - Slow progress but constant communication, looks better and better with every update ($10)

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Slow progress again (i see a theme) but an excellent game ($15)

Cosmic Star Heroine (Sci-Fi/Spy RPG) for PC/Mac/PS4/Vita - Top notch game that i really need to finish. Brilliant RPG wish i had backed higher ($10)

Darkest Dungeon by Red Hook Studios - Great well known successes story, love it. ($24)

Noct - Indie horror top down title, lovecraftian, messy and a bit dissapointing, communication was poor and mostly dead now? Technically delivered, eh. (10)

That Which Sleeps - Dev ran off with money i think on this one, shame, 'Kickstarter staff pick' blehhhhh

Yooka-Laylee - A 3D Platformer Rare-vival! - I kinda liked it, too much like 'Tooie' Than Kazooie for my liking though. (£35)

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - LOVE LOVE LOVE, demos are amazing, everything i could have asked for, can't wait for it to come out ($200)

Stygian - A Lovecraftian Computer RPG - Lovecraft RPG, updates are constantly, looking very cool, cant wait to try it ($20)

Sunless Skies - the sequel to Sunless Sea - Looks neat, very Sunless seas ish, which is no shock i guess...($30)

Blasphemous: Dark and brutal 2D non linear platformer - Looks baller, the demos play well, very impressive pixel art, good communication too, happy with this one so far ($35)

CULTIST SIMULATOR: BEHOLD OUR END - Great E-Board Game, tons of fun, very creepy, lost many many hours to this one. Brilliant. ($10)

Lust for Darkness - Cool if short walking sim/Amnesia style horror game with lots of lewd bits. Good back, happy with this. ($20)

The Good Life - SWERY! No idea yet but i have faith! (£85)

I also backed the Vagrant (which came out on steam even though the Kickstarter failed, really good!) and Shadow of the eternals, which im sad failed, that coulda been awesome.

So overall, i've been pretty happy with the stuff i've backed. I backed lots of non gaming stuff too and havent been burned on any of those.

Cryamore worries me, but i think the wait will be worth it!

Are you...are you implying that someone would just go on the internet and scream "fake news"...just to protect their ego?

Not actually sure what you mean here, to be honest? My only intention by bringing up the article was to provide evidence to support the notion that at one point the game was definitely placed on hold while they figured out what they were going to do with it. Nobody can question that the development of this game has been abysmal -- even if it's on track now, it has been shaky at the very least.

The only game I've ever backed on Kickstarter is Yooka-Laylee. The game didn't quite live up to the hype, but it wasn't terrible. In retrospect I probably shouldn't have upgraded to a physical copy, but I didn't spend a huge amount on the Kickstarter or anything, so I don't really regret backing it.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Didn't end up liking the game at all. :/
Hover: Revolt of Gamers - Not horrible, but not the JSRF game I was hoping for. lol
Amplitude - Disappointing list of songs
Midora - Cancelled game, so RIP $15 (Thankfully I didn't back it for much, lol)
Friday the 13th - I actually liked the game, but now it's shut down and never gonna be worked on so yep.
Agony - Wtf even happened to this game? It looks and runs horribly on the Xbox One X. Also, I didn't get my code til like 3 weeks AFTER the game was already out... I should be one of the corpses in this game (since I upgraded my backer amount for some event they were doing), but I'll never find out now. lol

I've Kickstarted some really good games though (recently Wizard of Legend and Moonlighter), and some more games that I'm still anxiously waiting on (Re-Legend, Edge of Eternity, and more). I'm a lot more hesitant to back stuff now though.

Failure of this game was super disappointing to me, because I really liked the proposed concept. It really should have been expected though, as the dev was clearly awful at setting deadlines he'd actually meet even before and during Kickstarter.

I didn't backed it up but this project went into dev hell and ever since there's any sign if the project is still alive. It was Fleish & Cherry in Crazy Hotel, an isometric, Super Mario RPG-style, adventure with 30's black & white cartoon style. It was nominated in some events back in 2013 and even Emily wrote an article about how promissing it looked. If the dev didn't screw up so badly, they could have popularized this graphics/art sytle prior to Cuphead. It was really a shame.

Funny seeing all the people who regret backing Ghost Song. I regret not backing it. Game looks rad.

Anybody here who might be considering Kickstarting something, you need to enter into that process expecting delays. Long delays. Hollow Knight and Hyper-Light Drifter were both nearly two years late.

Good things take time.

Three: Massive Chalice by Double Fine's B team. Massively underwhelming and really only a shadow of what was promised in the Kickstarter, Yooka Laylee which turned out worse than its pedigree would tell you and Torment: Tides of Numenara, which just turned out to be a poor game in general.

This hurts me to say but I really regret Heart Forth, Alicia. It wasn't funded over 4 years ago. The estimated release date was May 2016. There was finally an update last week after radio silence for 3 months. That update is "we don't have a release window yet"

I understand games take time but this has become really frustrating.

Midora

The creator raised $73k, abandoned the project, promised refunds on Aug 17 and then went silent (still active on twitter @epicmhyre). Such a scam.

Mercenary Kings. I never backed it on Kickstarter, but I donated/pre ordered through the developer's site shortly after the kickstarter ended. The game came out, and it wasn't good. I donated because I like Metal Slug and it looked like Metal Slug but with customization weapons, but good god it was just so mediocre, and apparently you have to grind excessively to do anything. The female character sprites are so bad too, like their tits are CONSTANTLY jiggling, whether they're standing still or going down a zip line.

I backed Battalion 1944 because I was itching for a new WWII shooter. When I finally got my code, the game was filled with COD2 elitist douchebags. Basically, if you're not a god at COD2 you will be cussed out and trashed on. Really turned me off to the game (it didn't help that it's also an unoptimized mess).

Edit: I wanted to add that I regret not having backed Shovel Knight. I didn't know about it during its campaign, but if I had I would have totally backed it. It turned out to be one of my favorite games.

I only ever backed three things:

1- Skullgirls Character Expansion: No regrets, they were a lot of fun,
2- Tooka laylee: Game was disappointing.
3- Indivisible: Demo was all right but I wasn't a fan of the streamlined for animation character redesigns.

Classroom Aquatic, which is a fucking scam.
It had a fully working neat demo. Game was supposed to releases years ago. It was delayed to release day and date on PSVR (which wasnt fuckin part of the kickstarter). Then it went delayed months and months again. They reappeared to say the game will release FIRST on Google Daydream before doing the PC/PSVR versions (which wasnt part of the kickstarter too). As of today, it's still not out on Daydream nornPC/PSVR.
Still no refunds, fuck them. They barely communicate on top of that.

Been relatively lucky with KS, generally cos I don't back and huge number of projects. Biggest disappointment is probably Slain! Just didn't really enjoy the game, even after they put out a major remade version which did fix a lot of the more pressing issues in the original release. That said, it was only $10 so I'm hardly beating myself up over it.

Project Phoenix. They are silent with updates since forever. I wonder if they ever found a developer

I've only backed a few. One of them was a pretty simplistic puzzle game because my friend did the art for it, so I never actually kept up on the project. I also backed Fear Effect Sedna just to support the franchise because I adore it so much but Sedna is..... eh. Not mad about it; again mostly just supported it just because of the license and I appreciate that it even came out as promptly as it did. I also pledged for the physical tier of Bloodstained and I'm confident that will turn out well.

Amplitude turned out to be a really good game in the end, and I didn't back this particular tier, but it amuses me to no end that there was a tier you could back at to get the game and all future DLC they ever released for it.

They never released any DLC for it. I still wonder what the people who backed at that level got instead.

You got PSN cash worth as much about as the DLC would have been (which was just included with the game) - depending on the level of DLC you backed at, you basically got your entire KS money back in the form of PSN money.

The one and only game I've ever backed was The Dead Linger. It changed engine like 3 times, barely made any progress and was cancelled.
